yes... there are lots of nasty viruses out there...
so if you do not now have a firewall get one FREE for
personal use at

http://www.zonelabs.com

you may have to search around on the web site a little
to find the FREE version...
have been using ZONEALARM for over two years and the only
worm/virus that got by came in by email somehow... ususally
i am REALLY careful but must have messed up...

admittedly it does take a little tech savvy to figure out
how to use the firewall... but there is a built in tutorial
and a little mental elbow grease can get you there...

This is a letter to the editor of the
Illinois Valley News by Lou Chauvin(Magic Forest Farm)
I think some of you chatters would recognize Lou
It's titled 'Puppet President'
President George Bush "the speech reader" performed
poorly on Sunday night, Sept 7. He was just a bit
too obviously a puppet, mouthing words that, unforunately, merely fogged reality.
For starters, there are real wars (World War 11, our
invasion of Vietman, our invasion of Iraq, the Civil War)
and there are metaphorical "warsd" (the war on cancer,
the "war" on drugs). For Bush to confuse the "war" on
terrorism with our illegal, poorly planned invasion of
the sovereign nation of Iraq is cynical propaganda
at its worst.
We have not been provided with a single, factuallly
supported justification for Bush's war in Iraq. For
him to mix the tragedy of Sept ll, 2001, with events
in Iraq is insulting.
Everyone should know by now that there was absolutely
no traffic between Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein,
that Iraq possessed no weapons of mass destruction--
chemical, biological or nuclear--and that is absolutely
no connection between Iraq and the destruction of the
World Trade Center. Our soldiers are dying and the
administration is lying again.
Our presence in Iraq is unrelated to the twin towers
of 9/11. For Bush "the swaggerer" to go before the
nation and say that our escapade in Iraq is a war on
terrorism is just flat wrong.
Not surprisingly, many in Iraq see the U.S. occupation
force as a kind of terrorism. And their occasional and violent response is seen as terrorism
Who is the terrorist is kind of relative. If being
a Palestinian suicide bomber at a bus stop, killing
innocents, is terrorism, then maybe Israel sending
missiles and (U.S. made) black hawk helicopters
into civilian apartments, killing innocents, is
terrorism also.

I thought this was worth printing-----Rita

Hey, anybody know what's happened to bob hale? There's a big story in the washington post about a guy who now calls himself poppa pilgrim but whose original name is bob hale
Guy's got 15 kids, long beard, story says he spent time on an Oregon commune.
Poppa Pilgrim bulldozed a road through a national park in Alaska.
Guy does look suspiciously like Hale - hard to tell exactly - he's got a long beard.
Did he call himself sunstar?
You can catch the story on the Post online
Anybody know?

call "REALITY" and join the rest of us in the real world.
all you have to do is spout god this and god that and
anything you do is ok.....bullshit! we all have to answer
to our actions, and if bobby boy thinks he's any different
because he's the perennial born again nut case, to bad.
there is no difference between the nutcase who blows people

carefully..

BREAKING NEWS: ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER CAN SPELL CALIFORNIA!

after months of speculation, Arnold Schwarzenegger has
finally proven he can handle the tough job of spelling the
word "California".

although many of his detractors had said he just wasn't up
to the immense responsibility of it, Mr. Schwarzenegger
held a live news conference where he actually spelled
California three times in a row without a hitch!

Arnold went on to say he has no doubt he will one day be
able to pronounce "California", although he emphasized this
would not happen over night. he also went on to say his
first order of business as Governor would be learning how
to spell and pronounce his last name, although he added he
might change his name to John Kennedy.....that way he could
say "I'll be Jack!!!

ted, thanks for being a good audience.....

soooooooo, what's new in the world of weirdness? let's have
a looksy...

The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry has published a study on
"rhinotillexomania", which is the medical term for nose
picking. in the study, researchers came to the startling
conclusion that the habit is "common among adolescents".
the study also found that 65 percent of people use their
index finger to do the picking, 20 percent their pinkie,
and 16 percent use a thumb. ( I use my big toe.)

Filipino Sen. Sergio Osmena announced that if necessary,
he will have sex on the floor of the Senate chamber to stall
further appointments of committee chairmen.

James Reilly, 36, an attorney from South Africa, won a radio
contest for the "wackiest act." His stunt: Skydiving naked
into the middle of an army parade with the sponsor's
product- a deordorant stick - taped to his genitals.
he won a new car.

according to a new survey by Roto-Rooter, 70 percent of
Americans have experienced an "unforgettable moment" in the
bathroom. ( hmmmm )

The Group Of Eight Summit drank 7,800 gallons of Evian while
discussing the world shortage of drinking water.( must have
been thirsty for a solution )

A Norwegian air ambulance crew ignored the smell of an
onboard fire because they thought it was the patients
farting. After smoke filled the cabin, the co-pilot
managed to bring the plane down safely. (...no comment...)

The town of Lost, Scotland, has lost it's town sign.

This really surprised me...
250 people were injured in this year's stone throwing
festival in Pasham Pud, India.

A mile long swim in Boston to celebrate the city's clean
beaches was canceled because of water pollution.

A burgler broke into a Berlin jewelery store containing $3
million in precious gems...and got away with $59 worth of
costume jewelery. ( more like a bungler, not a burgler. )

Didn't we just go through this?...
More than 600 people were injured, many seriously, in this
years Stone Throwing Festival in Pasham, Pud, India.
the ritual, in which residents of the village form groups on either side of the river Jaam and hurl stones at each other, is held every year.
last year, only 250 were injured. ( some advice. if your
ever in Pasham, Pud, and someone ask's if you'd like to get
stoned, say NOOOOOO!!!!)

A woman who claims to be Saddam Hussein's mistress says he
takes lot's of Viagra and dances to Frank Sinatra's
"strangers in the night".

talk about goin' to the dogs....
A 10-year-old boy who escaped from a care center two years
ago in Santiago, Chile, was found living in a cave with a
pack of stray dogs.
"he lived in a cave with dogs and roamed the streets for
food with them," said Della Delgato, head of Chile's
National Child-care Service.

and finally, a fitting story to end this...whatever it is..
A Malaysian food vendor has been arrested after boiling food
and dirty underwear in the same pot. Health officials were
about to search the man's stall when he pulled the underwear

Hi everyone--an added comment to Eugene
missing Arlo's performance. I will commiserate
with you Eugene--I would feel badly too if I
had missed him--he's one of my all time favorites.

A little trivia from the Eaton History book.
In the 60's, every Thanksgiving Day, we had to
play Alice's Restaurant before dinner. Everyone
enjoyed doing so-we all had our favorite parts(not turkey).
My favorite was of course the 'group W bench'.
And on any given Thanksgiving Day during that time,
there were at least 10 graduates from that bench,
my oldest son included, at our banquet.
Maybe this Thanksgiving I'll resurrect the old album.
Haven't played it in years. Anyway, thanks for the memory.
Peace, Love

In Sept. '66, as I was getting ready to move to New Paltz, I met a guy in the East Village named Geoff Bowie Outlaw (a Native American). He was about to celebrate his 4-F classification with a giant joint. I went to his (tiny) apartment with him, where we smoked it. He told me he had friends in Stockbridge, Massachusettes, who were renovating a church, and that I should come up and visit. I never did. But, later, when I saw "Alice's Restaurant," I saw Geoff again. He was Roger, who went to the dump and got busted with Arlo....

Hi jim, rita and all - staying pretty unaffected by all the war and weirdness outside of my little community of Oregon House. Hardly go to town or beyond - mainly because of my health, but partly from choice. Prefer the quiet here. My radical political days have passed and only have occassional urges to protest, but haven't done anything more radical than vote since before SR. CA politics are a sad joke. National politics, well...don't want to go there. Things heated up in the summer - kind of like SR summers - things got really hot Aug 15 when a small forest fire swept through my property and several of my neighbors. Total of about 15 acres burned, probably about 4-5 of mine. Lots of firewood for the next few years, some very memorable moments, and a better view. Got a phone call about a fire next door, got dressed (laying nekkid in bed) grabbed my purse, called my dog and hopped in the truck, drove down my very long driveway through some flames....so yes, it's been a hot summer. We lost 2 sheds and some stuff but our house is fine. Driving away from the flames, I was so gratefull just to be, that I really did not care what was burning. Other than that, life is pretty peaceful...oops, forgot, we just got a new puppy so forget the peaceful part - change that to playful. Everytings just fine....

That sounds like you had an exciting ( and not the good kind
of exciting ) summer, Alice. Glad you and most of your
property came out OK. As for us, they just issued a fire
weather watch for southern Oregon and northern California,
due to very low humidities and rather high temps. ( 80's )
we've had literally no rain, while the northern half of
the state has at least seen modest amounts. Between the
stupid weather and the stupid president, it's hard to keep
a good attitude.....but I will anyway...maybe.

may rain and peace be in the forecast soon.

stan, I found a lot of info typing shankara in search engines. Shankara is the name of an Indian saint.

From:     SIG     10/28/2003     7:46 A.M.

The word "Shankara" is a combination of two words, namely "shanka" and "hara". "Shanka" means doubt and "hara" means destroyer. Thus the word "Shankara" means He who destroys or defeats doubt.

George W. Bush is still an evil, stupid bastard who is
killing our young men with impunity and driving our country
right into the shitter. there is absolutely no difference
between a serial killer and our ugly, evil little president.
If Georgy boy were Ted Bundy the country would be all aroar
and up in arms over such brutality, but for some reason his
being president makes murder ok. He's arrogantly and
stubbornly sticking to his embarrassing foreign policy like
a fly sticks to fly-paper, and everyday more young
Americans, your sons and daughters, are being killed and
maimed because of an evil bastard who could care less about
loss of life and who will use any resource he has at his
disposal to continue with what can only be described as
complete madness! this chat was filled with supporters of
this administration a couple short years ago, and now not
one person who supported this fucking murderer and his ilk
have anything good to say or even try to come up with a
reason why he's anything but the troll-like creature he
is. What he's done to this country in just the few short
years of his un-official dictatorship is scary, and as sure
as shit stinks, we'll pay dearly for the ignorance of
electing this monster for our president.(we already are)

but thank our lucky stars we have a president who's to damn
ugly for a sexual scandal.....there isn't an intern in all
of washington, female or male, who would give him head!

but other than that, I don't have much to say.

i generally agree with the concept that anger should be
avoided at all costs... but we are human... and things
do make us angry... so to me the most important thing
is how do we deal with anger... explode? get violant?
or use the emotional energy to try and create change...
this does not mean that the anger must be expressed as
such... but the energy can be used in a motivational
manner... "i am angry... and i am going to do something
to change things"

this would to me be a positive use of anger... my basic
precept of dealing with life is compassion... but i do
get angry and try to deal with situations that have made
me angry... in my past i ran away from situations that
made me angry or turned it inward on myself... i have
found that both of these responses are counter productive
in the long run...

rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and

So what are you saying? That because there is clearly evil in the world that good does not exist - and that there cannot possibly be a God. The questions of why a good God would allow evil, suffering and pain, have been asked by all generations. Our own Jewish tradition deals with this question extensively in the book of Job. You might try reading that someday in an attempt to understand what answers are provided there. Another Jewish prophet, speaking for God declared "My ways are not your ways. As far as the heavens are above the earth so are my way above yours." Our lack of ability to answer the most perplexing questions in life does not mean that there are no answers. It just means we are limited in our understanding. Man afterall is not God.

The quote from Genesis was a description of the world just before the Flood, and was in answer to Rita's question in the quote above it. The human condition is no different now--with the exception of an open door to salvation from sin. The answer to Rita's question, for the majority of humankind, is "Never." There will be no world peace until there is true peace in every human heart--and that will never happen. But a few will find peace. I just don't see that kind of peace on this message board.

trying to cope with evolution.....please do not push your archaic
victorian shovenism upon us like junk mail....i have studied for years and
have seen the many traps laid out to make cults, sects and slaves out of
searching flourishing beings. ignorance is bliss so i heard....there are
crazies out there who kill and destroy for insane superstitions, or no
reasons at all except the thrill.....what's the use, you can only see what
you have been fed.......compassion and comprehension of human nature
as it is evolving could enlighten.....belief is not reality...and yes there is
hope, as i can see in our children, who have managed maintaining

jesus!!!

back to arguing religion again???

OK!!! well it has been relatively quiet lately...
there is nothing on earth to prove or disprove the existence
of god, heaven, hell, or any other religious belief...

it is what it is for gods sake <-- ironic, no???
so just live and let live... let each one discover for
themselves what they want to believe and get off your
high horse, for christ's sake <-- more irony!

myself... i try and practice compassion... that meets all
my needs spiritually... it provides immediate payment to
my inner self by making me feel good... if there is an
afterlife... i do not really care about a god that will
hold me guilty for not mumbling a few words... but will
redeem the most dispicable character for mumbling those
words... (ok... i know... true transformation thru redemtion
is the actual criteria for absolution)... but i really do
not like theology very much... anyones... and especially
those followers of theology who want to tell everyone
else how to live...

by the way... i agree... it is not likely that we will ever
have "peace on earth"... to many humans abound... <-- irony

also if i have misused the word irony by pointing out things
as ironic when they are not... hey... its semantics... not
something i have studied in depth... but perhapse you will
get the general drift...

In fact I wasn't raising the question of good God, bad things at all. Just questioning the good sunsets means God theory. God means a lot of different things to a lot of different people.
Stew, you say true peace will never happen in people, sounds pretty shortsighted to me, can you see 100,000 years in the future?

But I have a request...
This a personal appeal for help getting my new book - now in a middling draft - edited. It's the story of Sunnyridge (and a lot more) only set in the year 2999. In the case of String of Pearls, my first book, time and money and life conspired to compell me to publish it without proper professional editing, and it shows, and I am committed to putting out an upgraded second edition eventually.

But first, a significantly higher priority is my novel. It will have much wider appeal and has to be done right the first time. I’m including a brief synopsis to give you an idea of what you’d be supporting.

If you can afford $20 - $50 - $100 - $200 towards the $3000 I need to hire an old friend who is perfect for the job, send me an email and I'll let you know where to send the check. What you’d get, in addition to feeling good about helping and being paid back as soon as I get my slippery hands on a significant chunk of moola, is a signed copy, however small the contribution.

Also let me know if getting paid back is a high or low priority - everybody will be paid eventually, but I might not get the whole $3000 in my hands at one time.

Y3K

Y3K is a look back from the year 2999 at the world’s looming social/ecological crisis - I figure in the middle twenty-teens - from the viewpoint of thirtieth century hippie communalists, here called ‘huggers’. In contrast to virtually all novels of the future I’ve come across which are either post-apocalyptic disaster scenarios or depictions of built worlds covered with 200 story buildings but whose people have not evolved mentally or spiritually, Y3K postulates a peaceful, pastoral future where wars, human degredations and large income disparities are long past.

Loosely based on the biblical ‘1000 years of peace’ subsequent to ‘Entropy Gaia’, the earth’s near death experience, it describes a world’s people who have learned their lesson, i.e., they live lightly on the earth and allow the natural environment to regenerate. The conflict arises, ‘Satan returns’, in the form of a political movement that proposes to reestablish a cycle of growth and exploitation starting with logging of ancient forests which have been held inviolate for the previous millennium.

It is an exposition of communal life - I postulate about 100 million of the world’s 1.7 billion people in 2999 living in communal families - and my views on nearly everything; God, spirituality, society, politics, environment, love, sex, drugs, what have you.

Y3K is a road novel that nearly circles the world - it takes place in about a month in the fall of 2999 and describes different cities and communal families and huggers’ attempts to protect the forest and counter the new growth mania.

Y3K is hopeful in the long run, pessimistic in the short view. It describes a hip earthly paradise under threat from the very same callous and disrespectful attitudes towards life and the environment that we deal with today. But at least Eden is attainable.

hello all. sitting with my coffee waiting for my annual eye
check-up and listening to the radio.( Simply Red, holding
back the years...love that song.)
yesterday at work I came across an interesting item. as I
was trying to clean-up what was an old chicken coop, I
noticed out of the corner of my eye a piece of paper
stapled to the outside wall. I'd seen it before, but never
really took time to ckeck it out. The reason I took notice
this time was because I saw the name "Korican" in the upper
left corner. When I got closer, I realized that it was an
original eviction notice from Sunnyridge! I coudn't believe
it. The upper left corner has Peter, Betty, Leah, and Nina's
names. The gist of it says all people will be removed and
all buildings will be destroyed on these premesis, etc, etc.
I thought if anyone was interested, I'd "carefully" take it
down, maybe send it to you Ted, unless there's bad memories
or something and Peter and family would rather I just leave
it where it is. I'll wait for some feedback before doing
anything with it. peace to all.

From:     Ted     webmaster@sunnyridge.net     11/18/2003     7:50 P.M.

mij, that must of been so cool.
I would love to make a "history page" out of the notice or if we get feedback from the Koricans that it is somewhat private, we could either post it on the password protected Questionaire area or Secret Garden or....not! There's my feedback.

From:     mij     11/19/2003     6:51 A.M.

Ted, thanks for your feedback. I'll try to carefully take
it down today and then we'll get it to you and we'll go
from there.....

Later today I'm gonna try to make it out to the Illinois
river falls, the ones about 3 miles or so out eight dollar
road. A couple of friends were there yesterday, and said it
was an amazing sight! literally thousands of fish are
waiting to get up river. He said he's never seen that many
fish before, and that you could almsot walk across the river
on them. anyway, I'll get back later with details. peace.

From:     Mij     11/19/2003     4:49 P.M.

Ted, I'm sending you a scanned copy of the sunnyridge
eviction notice via E-mail, and will try to get the paper
itself to you via regular mail.
Remember, this is almost 25 yrs old, so it's hard to read
in places, although if you look hard you can read just about
all of it. The paper itself was origanally in laminate, but
it will still be a trick to get it to you in one piece. I
hope this is ok for now.

Tomorrow is December 7--"THE DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY"

And in 63 years, have we as a people,
come any closer to knowing that war
never solved a thing. Of course not.
Just look around--

Korean Police Action-1949-1954-
Thousands killed, maimed, cities
ruined, people homeless--never should
have been there, it never solved a thing
and after 50 years, our troops are still there.
FOR SHAME AMERICA

VIETNAM WAR--A DOUBLE SHAME FOR AMERICA.
AGAIN, AMERICA WAS NOT THREATENED--
The use of napalm, whole villages being
burned, and subjecting these 18 and 19 year
old teenagers to such horrors, under the phony
'warcry' of stopping communism. Of course, we didn't.

The Gulf War--Desert Storm
Again, We were not threatened one iota.
Again, we bombed and we bombed and we bombed
the hell out of Iraq--made an ungodly mess
out of that country. And for why?? Ask the
veterans of that war--all the 'yellow-ribbon'
people weren/t supporting 'the troops' when they
came home--they came home sick and our goverment
just turned their backs to them--to this day the
veterans of that war are still trying to get their due.

THE IRAQ WAR--We definitely should not have
started that war. The government lied to us,
But did we raise our voices when we were told
we were lied to? Of course not. There were a few
cries of protest here and there. But the yellow
ribbon people never came to support the troops,
like they did when they sent the boys to war on
a people who were not any threat whatsoever to America
A TRIPLE SHAME to AMERICA--and the shame is that our boys
are still there getting killed and wounded and mentally
depressed--America is in a quagmire we can't get out of.
I do hope next time our government wants to war,
we will not be so gullible and think by supporting
war, you are supporting our troops.

WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN, WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN

From:     eugene     12/17/103     5:29 P.M.

dear lester...

those weapons (actually chemicals and technology) were supplied
to the iraqis in the 1980's by france, germany, and (yes!)
the united states... at the time iraq was at war with (guess)
iran... and we along with other countries wanted to overthrow
the ayatollahs... we knew they had them and we knew they
used them and we stood by and did nothing... this was with
the implicit acceptance of the use by rumsfeld, cheney etc...
they were at that time in the reagan administration...

the UN documented the destruction of over 90% of the WMD
that were left over in the 1990's... so it is possible that
there were some perhaps as much as 10% remaining when we
went to war this time... and yes they did use some against
the kurds... i am fairly certain this was ALSO in the late
1980's before we went to war with iraq the first time...

again we did and said nothing... again rumsfeld et.al. knew
about it... and as of yet nothing has been found in iraq this
time around... so between the hypocrisy and the twisted use
of intelligence reports for political means... i am a bit
hesitant to believe anything the current administration has
to say about this...

and... saddam was a real asshole and i am glad that he is
gone... but... sometimes the cure is worse than the disease
remember: "we had to destroy the village to save it" ???

and... i hope all turns out well in iraq and for the iraqi
people... but the fact is the current administration lies
and is in the process of destroying this country... all that
will be left are the very rich and the very poor... the very
definition of a third world country... let us hope we can
oust the criminals and charlatan patriots!

Revering the Winter Solstice--or the Summer Solstice, or the equinoxes--is like worshipping a clock. It would be much more fruitful to observe the birth of the Messiah--How he was prophesied, how he consented to limit himself in flesh for awhile, what he came to do, how he succeeded, and what it means for each of us.

Hi everyone--Well Ted, had four teenagers
here tonight for Sunday dinner--they took the
Christmas word test willingly--Marie got 25--
Angel got 30--Will got 26 and Cody(friend)
got 18. The ages were 13-15. I put a 10 minute
time limit or they would still be trying and putting
plurals--
Peace, love--

Why bother doing anything? Why look at the stars, the sky,
redwoods, raging rivers, new born children, freshly fallen
snow, flickering firelight....why do anything else but read
the scriptures and compare them to everything? In fact,
maybe we can implant the scriptures in our brains at birth
and have entire lifetimes of scripture. We can make all the
food in the shape of the bible and drink liquified scripture
juice........It'll be a hoot!

Psalm 19

1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.

In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
5 which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The ordinances of the LORD are sure
and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
11 By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

Ted, you do a cool job with this website!

Peace and happy holidays to you and yours, and to all

I leave you with a christmas poem....

"There once was a man from Nantucket"....
oops, wrong one! let's try again..

Reflecting back on those times, it's a special mood
thinking of family, friends, and generic food
riding into town, in that flatbed machine
loaded with hippies, dogs, and kids..twas quite a scene

barreling in the flatbed, down the tarder gulch drainage
hoping to find a store that would except hippie patronage
and though many at that time wanted to put us in the slammer
we we're always welcome at a place called hammer's

and though we,ve all moved on to different stages
ditchdiggers, librarians, designer of webpages
We all have that feeling that only we know
Remembering those times with a warm peaceful glow

Peace to all.

From:     SIG     12/25/2003     8:19 A.M.

Growing up in a Jewish home in the ‘40’s and ‘50’s, there was no Christmas for us. And so I have no sentimental attachments to card-sending, gift-giving, Christmas trees, lights, home-baked cookies, and such. In a way, I’m glad, because these types of things never present a distraction for me.

My parents might have worried that we were jealous of the Gentile kids, and all the fuss that was made. But I don’t recall feeling jealous; we Jewish kids got to play with candles and candle wax for eight days.

Back then the elementary schools would have Christmas assemblies. During them, the whole school would sing “Silent Night.” I knew I wasn’t supposed to sing that; my family had nothing to do with “yon virgin mother and child.” My mother told me to just move my lips, to pretend to be singing. She was, no doubt, afraid that if I didn’t at least appear to be singing, I might be singled out as a Jew. The memory of the Holocaust and the concentration camps was still fresh in the minds of Jewish Americans.

About ten years later, I read the Gospels for the first time. I had never read anything like them before. I loved Jesus, and believed everything He said. So I put Him with my other gods, with Buddha and Krishna and Lao-tzu and Bodhidharma and such, up there on my god-shelf. Now Christmas became a special time for me, and I could imagine the light of the Christmas star shining pure white down through the centuries, timeless.

But merely believing what Jesus said wasn’t enough, and seeing Him as just one of many ascended masters wasn’t enough. It wasn’t until eighteen years later that I came to understand my hopelessly lost condition. My ship was sinking, and I couldn’t swim. I begged Him to save me, and He did, instantly. He was my life-saver, and still is. That was eighteen years ago. Since that day, every day is Christmas for me. I wake up each morning out of a confusion of dreams, and remember the One to Whom I belong. Every day, Jesus is born in me again, and every day becomes a new Christmas Day.

“So--we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.”

"It takes a village to raise a child".....to hate all the

"You can do anything if you want it bad enough".....guess
that's why we so many can fly.

"You have to learn to crawl".....before you can grovel.

"Every dog has his day".....of course, that day consists
of smelling other dogs butts.

"You can run, but you can't hide".....except, apparently,

"An optimist sees the glass half full".....and then goes

"No news is good news".....Unless your a T.V anchorman.

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks".....What the pimp
said to Phylis Diller.

"The pen is mightier than the sword".....now, put the second

"A penny saved is a penny earned".....NOT!

Ted, I hope you enjoyed 'Lord of the Rings'
as much as I did.

From:     Joel     12/30/2003     3:08 P.M.

I find it interesting that mij enjoyed the most recent Lord of the Rings movie, given that its creator, Tolkien was a strong beleiver in the Christian faith. Given mij's not just antipathy towards Christianity but seemingly outright disdain for its worldview, again I find it strange that he so enjoyed the LOTR film.
Not that Tolkien wrote the LOTR as a way of expressing his theological views - he strcitly denied that. But more than a little of this man's faith and philosophy comes through the books and movies however much he did not set out to do that.
I am not criticizing mij for liking the movie. I loved it and was in tears the last half hour or so from the point where Gandalph shared his view of life beyond this one with Merry or Pippin, I can't remember which.
I am not suggesting that mij or other non-beleivers change their views about Christianity based on the LOTR or anything else for that matter. I am suggesting that the animosity often expressed on this website towards a Christian or biblical world view be tempered by an appreciation for the fact that great men, such as Tolkien and many small men and women such as me, have concluded after much searching that the Christian faith has valid and meaningful answers to the questions about life, death, good and evil, love and God we all ask. We are close to the beginning of a new year and I think it would be a good resolution for all of us to make who participate on this website, to respect each other and our respective belief systems and to treat one another as the Good Book says, as you would want others to treat you.
Wishing you all a Happy and if you don't mind, blessed New Year.

So now the big question, is if Mars has life
A place which looks more lifeless, than George Bushes wife
Many have questioned, whether this planet that's red
supports any life, or is completely dead
A question which to me, seems kinda dumb
for that's obviously where, Michael Jackson comes from
When I look at Bush, Rumsfeld and Chaney
I question just how long, just how many
How many years, and how many scars
Before our very own planet, looks like Mars
And if lifeforms far away, sitting around their hearth
Will debate if there was ever, any life on Earth.

From:     Ted (Forewarded by Barbara B)     1/9/2004     6:01 A.M.

With Washington insiders yelping out reasons why your campaign can't win, and with pundits trotting out failed candidacies of the past in order to make facile comparisons, we thought it instructive to dust off the history books and look at a landslide election that might be particularly relevant this year. While a few commentators have dared to compare George W. Bush to Herbert Hoover - the only other modern president to preside over a net loss in jobs - the potential similarities between the 1932 and 2004 election are much deeper than that.

Elected in 1928, Herbert Hoover capped a three-decade reign in which the GOP won seven of nine presidential elections. Hoover inherited one of the biggest economic booms of American history. But the boom was misleading - despite a skyrocketing stock market, the gap between rich and poor was widening, and when the bubble burst in 1929, Hoover found himself presiding over the country's worst depression ever. After a decade in which the policies of Presidents Harding and Coolidge heavily favored their cronies in big business, there was no safety net to support a nation suddenly unable to make ends meet.

Hoover's undoing - and the undoing of the long era of Republican rule - was his inability to respond to the economic needs of millions who had lost jobs and wages. He took a hard ideological stand that the market would fix itself, and that government should not interfere. Though Hoover was widely considered to be a good and decent man, his rigid ideology prevented him from finding solutions to the problems of most Americans.

And thus the stage was set in 1932 when a brash and charming northern governor won the Democratic nomination for president. Franklin Delano Roosevelt promised to use government to unite Americans and to advance social and economic justice. His message resounded across the country, and Roosevelt swept into the White House in a landslide, winning 472 electoral votes to Hoover's 59, and bringing with him large pickups in the House and Senate.

FDR's 1932 victory was just the beginning. By energizing the Democratic Party, he launched an era of progress and common purpose. Between 1932 and 1968, Democrats won six of eight presidential elections and were strong in both houses of Congress. During this era, the United States achieved great social progress - the New Deal, Social Security, Medicare, labor legislation, and civil rights laws - and established itself as a powerful moral leader in the world by defeating fascism. After the war, we helped Japan and Europe to rebuild and founded an international order based on the rule of law. It was American resolve, rooted in the rule of law, that laid the groundwork for the implosion of communism and the triumph of freedom.

Since 1968, the Republican Party has won six of nine presidential elections. Now with their control of the House and Senate, they are intent on rolling back decades of progress to the era of Hoover. But history has proven that the American people can unite to reverse this country's direction. It happened in 1932, and you can make it happen in 2004.

FDR's 1932 inaugural address is one of the great documents of our democracy. Read it now, or better yet, listen to the actual recording:

http://www.hpol.org/fdr/inaug/

And when you hear talk of the possibility of a landslide in 2004 - jump right in. Tell your friends that, yes, it's possible. First you have to look at history, and secondly, you gotta believe.

Forward this email to everyone in your address book, and ask them to join your campaign at:

http://www.deanforamerica.com/join

Let's see how many Americans will join the landslide. The pundits' role is to doubt - but we have the power to believe.

found out that the "stalker" was actually Fitzpatrick's

Sometimes some inane trivial information helps take the mind
off the more serious issues of the sadder side of reality...

a Crete, Neb man scratched a million dollar ticket from a
local burger king contest, but when he got home three hours
later he realized the stub had fallen out of his pocket, so
he coolly returned to the store, retraced his steps and
found the million dollar stub still lying on the floor in the checkout line.

In Braintree, Mass, the city purchased a new $650,000 fire
truck....then discovered it was to big to fit into the
town's fire station.( They must fight a lot of marijuana
fires...)

Two Floridians have filed a $1.1 trillion lawsuit against
Osama bin Laden for "scaring them".

To the screams of hundreds of spectators, a 47 year old man
in Fond du Lac, Wisc, who since 1980 had gone only 8 days

Jim - that's about it.

Leah, Nina, Miriam and Melina were all together in the SF area after the attack and were able to be with Peter until he died, and Elizabeth went to spend some time with them afterwards. She said they were doing well, or at least as well as could be expected.

Leah, Nina, Melina and Miriam - I hope you don't mind me speaking on your behalf, and I do hope you're well. It was such a shock and I feel so much for you. I wish I were well enough to have traveled to the service, but my doctor advised against it. Hugs to you all.

Leah, Nina, Melina, and Miriam...

You know we all share Alice's thoughts and feelings. Some
words printed on a page will not do justice to your father
and how he touched the lives of others, my family included.
If it were possible, we would all have been there to send
him off to the next stage of his journey....

It's at these times we reflect back...kinda take stock in
what was and what will be. I myself think about those days
back then when we were little hippie kids running around.
We never hung around alot together...you guys ( Leah and
Nina ) being little girls and I and my brother ( Patrick )
being punk boys. I do believe I had a crush on you Leah, but
please don't hold that against me! I remember me and my
friend Marc Bottenstein ( he lived right there on Browntown
road, the one that goes by the Holland store )would talk
about you girls and whether or not "you liked us"....

It's strange trying to remember when we went from those
hippie kids to.....not being those hippie kids. What I mean
is, I can't place when that changed. It was just the passage
of time of course, but there is no clear cut memory of when
that was and when it wasn't. Life took us on our own paths
and we just naturally drifted apart and went on to do our
own things, but I'm glad we are able to share some memories
together. When you think about it, we kids had a truly
unique childhood, one that not many kids got to experience.
Once again I thank your father for that opportunity. I wish
you all the very best, and hope life shines it's magic on
you and yours forever....

Peace.

Sunnyridge still seems so fresh and so it's hard to think of Peter, so young, dying.
He was a large part of the glue that held SR together. He kept the place functioning, but got frustrated with the likes of me whose do your thing, thing meant being lazy and watching people like him work. I remember him coming by early one morning trying to wake up us lazy stoners for a wood run.
I didn't mean to be a slacker, I was just too freaked by life, and had mountains of weird shit to work out. In spite of everything do your thing actually kinda worked.
Later on working at the recycling company I became the Peter pushing all to work for the good of work.
I'm looking forward to seeing him up there, whenever, (but I hope not too soon).

"Look, up there in the sky".
"It's a bird",
"It's a plane",
"No!....It's STUPORMAN"!

It's stories like this that make guys like me look
absolutely Einsteinian....

In rural Carbon County, PA, a group of men were drinking
beer and shooting guns ( theres a good combo! ) from the
rear deck of a home owned by Irving Michaels, age 27. The
men were firing at a raccoon who was passing by ( the
f---ing nerve of that little bastard! ) but the beer had
apparently impaired their aim, because despite the 40+
rounds which they fired at him, the raccoon escaped into a
3ft diameter drainage pipe some 100 ft away from Mr.
Michaels deck.
Determined to kill the animal, Mr. Michaels retrieved a can
of gasoline and poured some down the pipe, ( I bet you can't
see where this is going! ) intending to smoke the "critter"
out. After several unsuccessful attempts to ignite the fuel,
Michaels emptied the entire 5 gallon fuel can down the pipe
and tried to ignite it again, to no avail. Not one to admit
defeat by wildlife, the determined Mr. Michaels proceeded to
slide feet-first 15 ft down the sloping pipe to toss the
match.
The subsequent rapidly expanding fireball propelled Mr.
Michaels back the way he had come, though be it at a much
higher rate of speed. He exited the angle pipe "like a
polaris missile leaves a submarine" said witness Joseph
Mcfadden, 31.
Mr. Michaels was launched directly over his own home, right
over the heads of his astonished friends, onto his front
lawn. In all, he traveled over 200ft in the air.
he suffered only minor injuries.( DAMN! )
no word on how rocky faired.

later.

are mostly cloudy with patchy fog....
The forecast calls for continued war with steady casualties
and useless loss of life today, and an increase in the smoke
being blown up the public's asses. The chances for
measureable misinterpretation by the public remains high at
about 70% today, decreasing finally after the election.
The radar currently shows a wide band of evil stretching

--------------------------------------------------------
IT'S ELECTION TIME AGAIN

Just so you know:

I attacked and took over 2 countries.

I spent the U.S. surplus and bankrupted the US Treasury.

I shattered the record for the biggest annual deficit in history
(not easy!).

I set an economic record for the most personal bankruptcies filed
in any 12 month period.

I set all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the
stock market.

I am the first president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.

In my first year in office I set the all-time record for most days
on vacation by any president in US history (tough to beat my dad's, but
I did).

After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, I
presided over the worst security failure in US history.

I set the record for most campaign fund raising trips by any
president in US history.

In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost
their jobs.

I cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than
any other president in US history.

I set the all-time record for most real estate foreclosures in a
12-month period.

I appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions
than any president in US history.

I set the record for the fewest press conferences of any
president, since the advent of TV.

I signed more laws and executive orders amending the Constitution
than any other US president in history.

I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and
refused to intervene when corruption was revealed.

I cut health care benefits for war veterans.

I set the all-time record for most people worldwide to
simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the
record for protest against any person in the history of mankind.

I dissolved more international treaties than any president in US
history.

I've made my presidency the most secretive and unaccountable of
any in US history.

Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US
history. (The poorest multimillionaire, Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil
tanker named after her.)

I am the first president in US history to have all 50 states of
the Union simultaneously struggle against bankruptcy.

I presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud in any
market in any country in the history of the world.

I am the first president in US history to order a US attack AND
military occupation of a sovereign nation, and I did so against the will of
the United Nations and the vast majority of the international community.

I have created the largest government department bureaucracy in
the history of the United States, called the "Bureau of Homeland
Security"(only one letter away from BS).

I set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending
increases, more than any other president in US history (Ronnie was tough to
beat, but I did it!!).

I am the first president in US history to compel the United
Nations remove the US from the Human Rights Commission.

I am the first president in US history to have the United Nations
remove the US from the Elections Monitoring Board.

I removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of
congressional oversight than any presidential administration in US
history.

I rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant. I withdrew from
the World Court of Law.

I refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by
default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions.

I am the first president in US history to refuse United Nations
election inspectors access during the 2002 US elections.

I am the all-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate
campaign donations.

The biggest lifetime contributor to my campaign, who is also one
of my best friends, presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy
frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).

I spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in
US history.

I am the first president to run and hide when the US came under
attack (and then lied, saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1)

I am the first US president to establish a secret shadow
government.

I took the world's sympathy for the US after 9/11, and in less
than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the
biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history).

I am the first US president in history to have a majority of the
people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world
peace and stability.

I changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded
government contracts.

I set the all-time record for the number of administration
appointees who violated US law by not selling their huge investments in corporations
bidding for gov't contracts.

I have removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans
than any other president in US history.

I entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in
less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight
down.

RECORDS AND REFERENCES: I have at least one conviction for drunk
driving in Maine (Texas driving record has been erased and is not
available).

I was AWOL from the National Guard and deserted the military
during time of war.

I refuse to take a drug test or even answer any questions about
drug use. (wink,wink)

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas have been spirited
away to my fathers library, sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public
view.

All records of any SEC investigations into my insider trading or
bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

All minutes of meetings of any public corporation for which I
served on the board are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

Any records or minutes from meetings I (or my VP) attended
regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public
review.

With Love,
GEORGE W. BUSH
The White House, Washington, DC

Note: this information should be useful to voters in the 2004
election.

reminded about
this record.

actually he is like a lot of other conservative politicians...
the reason he is in office is because ralph nader pulled
enough votes in the election to throw it to bush... now i have
nothing against nader... but... i would still have rather had
gore as a president than bush... the is a neat phrase i heard
about this... don't know if i posted it...

when you vote... do not sacrafice the good on the alter of
the perfect...

in other words... gore was good but some people voted for
was they saw as the more "perfect" candidate... nader...
and thus we sit here today with the greater of two evils
as our president... and you are right... he is truly awful
and to my mind is intent on completely wrecking the country
with his fiscal policies that are going to bankrupt america
when the baby boomers hit social security age starting in
2010... that is when all these tax cuts hit their full effect
and it is again in my mind done for one reason... political
gain...

anyone trying to fix the problem will have to raise taxes...
and the right can then attack them on that... so we will be
left with the wealthy and everyone else will be shit out
of luck...

Eugene, the election was stolen. Without Ralph we wouldn't have understood that such a thing could happen, besides more Florida democrats voted for Bush than voted for Ralph.

And if we do get a Kerry we will discover that however much he's an improvement over the bush (even an ordinary earthworm would be better than bush) he will still take the country and world down the (logistically absurd) road of unlimited growth and eventually cataclysm.
Consider; every one percent of growth in America is equal to the total in Cambodia! Who really needs the money? What actual good comes from america's increased growth?

Kerry gets a lot of his money from media giants, and is as beholden to special interests as anybody, notwithstanding his latter day embrace of populism.
Kerry, in 1997, along with 97 other senators voted against the Kyoto Treaty. Why? because it didn't require the developing world to make any immediate changes. Americans only produce 20 times more greenhouse gases per capita than Indians, but Kerry and the rest thought Kyoto was unfair to the US!!!
Gore's top environmental advisor had just spent the previous decade working for Monsanto, one of the world's sleaziest, least environmetal corporations.
and I could go on and on.
Ill be glad to see Bush go but I have no need to apologize for voting for Ralph and I'll still never happily feel good about voting for a Democrat.

All politicians have their own agendas, and usually are
backed by some sort of corporate money, as sure as Michael
Jackson is black. ( bad example! ) Anyway, This current
mal-function for an administration is BAD....100% PURE
UN-"ADULT"ERATED evil.
Now, I'm sure since governments were formed, there have been
bleak outlooks, a feeling that all is going into the shitter
without being wiped, but life and countries have gone on.
You hope for a lesser pile of offal, and try to Roto-Rooter
the bigger piles into the over flowing toilet of right wing
conservative bigotry, thereby keeping what balance is
possible in this never-be-perfect world. Gore, Kerry, etc.
are like leaking dams, it isn't perfect, but it stops the
backed up water of ignorant self-serving rich ME ME ME's
from completely inundating everything in their paths.
You know, we can't change civilization....what I mean is,
are we suppose to go back to the 1700's? all periods in time
have had and will have there own dire situations, from
deadly diseases that wipe out half the population to a
computer age that seems to have it's own self awareness,
limiting the hands on human experience. No matter what, you
do what you think is the best at that time, and hope the
next generation will do the same. Earth abides, and so do
humans, it's the ever changing circle of existance...

From:     Rita E     2/15/2004     10:26 A.M.

Stan, I think you are so utterly wrong
about our political situation. Bush would
not be in power today, if Nader had chose Not
to run. And you people who voted for him, definitely
knew there wasn't a chance of him being elected.
And if you had any 'smarts' at all, you must have
realized it would take away from the democratic vote.
I know you think there isn't any difference between
the two parties, but to me, no way would we be in
this predicament today, regardless of 9/11.
There would still be an ancient city of Baghdad--
There would still be thousands of young teens enjoying
themselves in America, instead of lying dead in a
foreign land for no good reason at all--
not to mention thousands of Iraquis dead, wounded
and homeless in a devastated land--
and here at home, there wouldn't be thousands of
jobless men and women, who are losing their homes
and every state in the union next to bankruptcy--
to me it is so shameful what Bush and his thugs have
done to this country in just three years.
I know alot of Nader voters said 'I have to vote my
conscience'--I wonder what their conscience will tell
them this November.
Peace, Love

i would love to see a world that practiced sustainable growth
or any other term that you like... and i met nader in the
oakland, ca airport on the way back to NM from visiting
friends in SF... and really liked him even though i only had
about 5 minutes to speak with him...

however... the one really big differance between myself 30
years ago and now is that i am more realistic about how the
world IS and how it works... this does not mean i am totally
apathetic about environmental issues etc... but given the
complete sell-out of this administration to destruction in
all forms, environmental, economic, and war etc... how can
anyone have been or could they be worse???

the fact is republicans will ALWAYS be for the interests of
big corporations, rich people and themselves first... this
is not to say that democrats are necessarily less selfish
or more altruistic... it always depends on the individual...
as a matter of fact there are MANY replublicans that i admire
for the statesmanship and character... it is just that this
new rush limbaugh type of republican party is so horrible
that i cannot even think of words to express my disgust with
them...

so i think with democrats we have a better chance for making
things better (in general) than with republicans... but hey
we do need both parties going at each other to get anything
approaching a balance in life... differant opinions and
compromise make at least a livable world even if it is not
perfect...

but who after the age of 30 can believe much in perfection...
it is just not reality... i wish it were... but i have been
too often stomped by the bootheel of reality to have many
illusions about it any longer...

peace, love, happy sailing to all

In general I have a much different perspective on things than Eugene's but I have to applaud the comments he made above suggesting that the two party system is a good one that helps keep each party accountable to the people.
I especially appreciated his acknowledgement that there are MANY Republicans who have earned his respect. Sometimes I think we allow sterotypes and political type-casting to cause us to forget our common humanity. Thanks to Eugene for not falling into that trap.

From:     Mij-potty-mouth     2/19/2004     6:29 A.M.

I usually disagree with anything Republican, just the way
it is. and as for the Democrats not being much better, well
that depends on what you think is better. THE FACT IS, our
current government, Republicans, has this country on a
nosedive to ecologic and economic disaster, not to mention
the complete ruination of health care, social security, and
anything resembling social programs. Oh yeah, let's not
forget that pesky little war that's KILLED HUNDREDS of
Amercicans...you know, the war Georgy boy said was over
6 months ago. ( I can still see him standing on that ship,
all proud with his ignorant face beaming, like he was the reason for the fictituous victory, a complete slap in the
face to those young men and women losing life and limb
thousands of miles from their homes )
He lied about the new jobs, said yesterday that the 2.6
million new jobs projected by the end of this year was
"unrealistic". His whole damn presidency is unrealistic!!

I cant't ( and won't, for that matter ) pretend that all
this shit isn't directly attributed to this REPUBLICAN
regime. THEY'RE in power, THEY are responsible, end of
debate. I'm sick of the war, I'm sick of George, and I'm
sick of this whole fucking G-DUB-lican party!!!!!!!!!!!

he is not troubled with his lies for getting
us into this devastating war and other lies
that he continually spews, especially his so-called
national guard service. The war is the main
horrible act that he sponsored.
My question to you Joel is--
How can your christian conscience condone
these outright lies???
And the republicans in control of congress?
George should have been on the impeachment
table two years ago.
No, I definitely have no respect for any group

that, bush continues to LIE practically everyday.

I got this e-appeal to speak up about how I feel personally about the latest news, re the sneaky judge appointment: it doesn't take much to get my blood boiling these days:

Bush Subverts Democracy

How many more ways can the Bush Administration devise to undermine our own democracy? At times it seems even the long-suffering Iraqi people intuit what perhaps 50% of Americans slide by on their way to watch Survivor while eating McDonald's. This administration is blatantly doing its best to subvert our own longstanding Democratic principles. How hypocritical is it to any thinking person that they continuously say one thing and do or mean the opposite? By war I mean peace, are ya with me? Our greatest defense has always been the model we upheld that caused others to want to emulate us. Now our economy, our underlying values, our political system, our standing in the world has been made a house of cards.

They bemoan "activist judges setting policy," while they bypass the process and appoint Fundamentalist Christian activist judges. Is the greatest irony that it was judges who anointed Bush as President while the will of the people was still - at best - in question? Or maybe that Dick Cheney sees no appearance of impropriety at duck hunting with Antonin Scalia just before he's to hear his case? Or is it that US Supreme Court Justice Scalia sees no reason to recuse himself?

It seems to me that drug criminals had to forfeit their ill-gotten gain. Why don't all these robber barons who have profited and profiteered be required to contribute theirs to the needy or the national deficit they wantonly created in their own unbelievable greedy interests? Or maybe just to the individuals and families whose lives they have shattered. The Emperor is naked, just open your eyes.

but hey... it is all we got to try and change the government

yeh... read that about the judges... at least it is only
good till the end of 2005... and he has done it twice now...
so he only needs to do three more to over ride the veto
that has been happening in the senate... ok... the filibuster
of republican appointees... and yes... it is ok to have
activist judges if they are CHRISTIAN activist judges...
just not ok for the rest of us... huh... how does that work

oh... i forgot... hypocrisy...

Hi Everyone--about the candidacy of Ralph Nader--
He might not even get on the ballot, but if he
does, he will be talking about the war and the
lies that led us into this tragic situation--also
about health care, creating jobs, etc. And what I
like is he will be much more vocal than John Kerry
can be. I still think he costs us the election last

Hi Everyone---Howdy Alice---
News item you might be interested in--
The Mayor of New Paltz is charged with
marrying 25 gay couples. And I did laugh
at the next sentence--there were so many
couples wanting to get married so he made
a list, and already 500 couples have signed.
Personally, I don't think it should be
legal or illegal--its a commitment between two
people and the vows they take should be applauded.
This hopefully doesn't open up a religious war,
but I am curious about the reasoning of some people
who are against gay marriage.
Peace--Love--

From:     mij     3/3/2004     4:46 P.M.

if you don't like the idea of gay marriage,
Or of marrying in the traditional way,
Then I'd say you have a big problem,
Unless you find a hetorsexual who's gay

But there is another solution
you can call it a contingency plan
You find yourself a transexual
that way you can marry a woman and a man!

From:     Mij     3/4/2004     6:38 A.M.

...or not.

From:     Mij     3/4/2004     5:02 P.M.

Gay marriage? How about this....

A dutch artist is set to marry herself to show people how
much she loves the "different sides of her character".
Jennifer Hoes ( yep, Hoes is her real name) 29, has ordered
a complete wedding party, wedding dress and marriage
certificate. "I want to celebrate with others how much I'm
in love with myself," she said.

That lady is actually close to playing with a full deck of
cards compared to this nut case...

"Duct and Cover"
After hearing recent terror warnings, a Connecticut man went
out and bought hundreds of feet of plastic sheeting,
battens, boards, staple guns and ladders.....then wrapped
his entire house in plastic.( My guess is he voted for Bush)

In Fairfield, Ohio, motorist Christina L. Willis, 36, who
was finally caught by police following a thirty minute
chase after she hit an officer with her car, still refused
to get out of her car....until she had finished her beer.
( that was hard to swallow..)

In London, a machine operator lost his thumb in a workplace
accident. then, as he tried to demonstrate to his bosses
how the accident happened, he lopped off part of his index
finger.(That guys a real thumbshit!)

A 38 year old Pike Creek Valley, Del., man attempted to
dispose of his gunpowder by, how else, throwing it in the
fireplace.

he survived.

And Finally,
In Sarasota, Fla, a sheriff's deputy drove his patrol car
to a familiar spot beside the highway to watch for
speeders, but his cruiser immediately rolled into a neatly
created hole about 5 feet by 5 feet, which was disguised
by someone who laid palm fronds across it.( hole-y-shit!)

Before I go, a quick thought...
When that lady who married herself goes out for dinner,
who pays?

From:     Ted     3/6/2004     7:53 A.M.

She goes "Dutch" of course.

Can't believe the balls on whoever dug that hole.

What happens if she gets a job? Which of her stays home

If she wins a cruise for two, can she still bring a guest?

If you leave a message on her/her phone, do you have to
say it twice?

If she plays on your softball team, does she bat twice?

Does she knock before going into the bathroom......in case
she's already using it?

Bush Lied?
A collection of quotes I received in an email from the Harvard Republican Club.

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Iraq is a long way from [the USA], but what happens there matters a great
deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear,
chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face."
-Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times
since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the
U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if
appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction
programs."
- Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle,
John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass
destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
-Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

"There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons
programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs
continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition,
Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies."
- Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others,
December 5, 2001

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandates of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and
developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every
significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he hasrefused to do" Rep. - Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members .. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

BULL SHIT to truth seeker--
Most of those quotes were five years ago.
That was diplomatic sparring--
Why dont you come out from under your
'bush' and see the Truth.
BUSH DID LIE--that is a proven fact.
He LIED about Iraq having missiles that
he could launch in 45 minutes. He certainly
LIED about Iraq having Weapons of mass destruction.
And he LIED about Iraq being tied to al-Quaida.
And bush is still LYING about that misrepresentation!
Why dont you seek the truth from the United Nations,
whose people were there in Iraq? Those were the
truthful quotes--and that's why 90 percent of the
nations around the world are against us and bushes war.
And doesn't it bother your conscience at all that our
troops are being killed daily to salvage bushes ego?
And doesn't it bother your conscience at all that our
country is going down the drain trying to pay for
bushs arrogance--millions out of work--thousands losing
their homes--states trying to keep much needed programs
from disappearing--how the hell can you condone this
horrible mess bush and his thugs perpetrated on the
American public????????????
He destroyed a country with his 'shock and awe'
that we all should be thoroughly ashamed.
Bush and Powell were the biggest LIARS at
the United Nations--they both should be IMPEACHED!!!!
I am so sick of all of you who try to defend bush.
The man's a LIAR and continues to be one.
He is undefendable.
And so are you truth seeker--the media and the
press are all controlled by corporations--
no such thing as a liberal press--wish there
was--we wouldn't be in this mess!!!!!

...truth seeker....not identifying yourself, a lie

From:     eugene     3/16/104     3:09 P.M.

dear truth seeker...
you need to do a little research about what the UN weapons
inspectors found... documented and destroyed in iraq up until
the time they were removed... there was very little discrepency
between the created WMD, the used WMD, the destroyed WMD and
what could not be accounted for...

also you need to read a little about what the CIA, NSA, DIA,
et. al. said about potential WMD and/or existing "known" WMD
in iraq... all of it the exact opposite of what bush etc.
said leading up to the war...

also... the plan for the war had been in the works since
about 1991-92... white papers about it were worked up by
wolfowitz, cheney (i think), rumsfeld, etc... and also there
are white papers documenting the need to gain a secure hold
on the oil in the region... i am not certain of the dates
on those papers...

by the way what liberal bias in the media... this is a
fiction promulgated by the right... i am a liberal and i
do not see much if anything at all that i consider liberal
reporting... just the opposite in fact... i do not see any
hardball questions asked of anyone in the administration...

one of the great ironies of life: as the working classes
and middle class are destroyed by the right wing leisure
classes... the owners of capital... they flock to the
republican party under the banner of "family values" and
moral political correctness... and a culture war where the
political liberals and progressives are labeled "elitest"

who are more elite than the moneyed classes??? private
schools, yachts, mansions, guaranteed cushy life because
of connections... stock options, access to the levers of
power... geez... our current president couldn't even make
it when he had his own oil company... ok... he didn't pay
for it himself... his dad's friends did... but heck he
still failed at it... of course he sold his stock a few
weeks or months before it went belly up (insider info) and
made his first million... but heck... what else is having
connections for... poor martha... she must be registered
democrat!!!

nothing like loving the thief that steals food from the
table... oh well... another 30 years and it will turn
around again... maybe...

Truth seeker, you should get another hobby, because
apparently seeking the truth isn't working out so well.

Maybe start out small, like trying to find the Loch ness
monster...or maybe the fountain of youth, etc., then move
on to something a little tougher, like seeking truth in this
administration.

Bring a lunch, cause it will take awhile. Good luck.

-Win an election without the votes.
-Lie about WMD.
-invade and blow up a country, killing thousands, leveling
and razing everything in sight.
-Declare the war over on a navy destroyer with a stupid shit
eating grin while lying about and evading his own non-
military experience.
-Cut and abolish everthing from health care, unemployment
benefits, housing, social security, enviromental programs,
etc., all the things that thousands of americans died for
in the past to make this country something to "fight for".
-Tell the puplic that the war is still over, it's just that
Iraqui's and Americans are still dying....everday, all day,
all night.........but, let's not forget, the war is over.
-Keep the have's having, and the have-not's working and
giving everthing they work for to the haves, cause they
always can use more.
-Drill the Alaskan wilderness, log and burn the rain
forests, strip mine, whatever you can think of to ruin and
demolish what little is left of our once undiscribable
beautiful planet. ( and remember, do it all so the haves
can get more.....MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!! )
Use the tragedy of 911 to keep perpetrating these assaults
against man and earth, cause the puplic laps it up and
believes everthing through ignorance and fear.
-Get re-elected, call it a day.
