WOW! A new page....but what will we do without that
ugly snowman to look at?..

it's weird writing a first message, you feel almost
obligated to start it out with some sort of relevant, deep,
meaningful contribution which will open it up like a
blooming flower of discourse reaching for the sun of
Knowledge....

"There once was a man from Nantucket, who's d--k was so
long he could suck it"..

sorry, i guess i'll leave the flowering discourse to
someone else..

Later.

I made a few changes to the Outhouse...
Since most people now have pop-up blocking, we can now enter our password right on this page.
Hope that helps.
And if you think the "Mad Spammer" has disappeared..
think again. I have more or less confined his activity to the "pending page" and in some areas his posts are simply "hidden" till I reload the page.
And by the way...
If anyone changed the background music and got some kind of weird page instead...
better run a virus scan.
(thank you, "Mad Spammer")

and go through my "pile o' jokes"...i'm sure i can find
something to turn the stomach and boggle the mind....

We had a rather damaging snowstorm over night and today..
we've had about 8" of nice wet snow..we were without power
for 8 hrs from 3:00 to 11:00 am...lots of minor accidents
and other snowstorm antics...weather is interesting all
over the west coast, including down in your area Ted, if
not yet it should be soon...heavy snow, rain, wind, and
power outages from Seattle to SF...moving your way...

until next time..

Peace.

Outhouse Chat has been redesigned because most people have pop-ups blocked these days.

Right above where you post a message is a box that should say PASSWORD.

Click it and type in the password.

That is an incredibly well done presentation of the cutting-edge emergence of science and spirituality holding hands. I too don't know if I endorse the website. I will research a little more. But it is totally cool and right on. My immediate reaction however requires a little introduction, however:
I have heard that all the spiritual paths in the world can be reduced to bascially the "head" the "heart" and the "hand".
The Hand is action..karma..morality..good deeds
The head is knowledge..enlightenment..cosmic consciousness
The Heart is love..devotion..desire
I believe there ultimately will have to be a balance.
The presentation above initially strikes me as totally attractive to the mind.
But how do we give up egoism?
How did we give up our dolls and toy trucks?
By growing up and seeing the shiny new bicycle awaiting us.
Likewise...personally...I need to water the garden of my love above all else.
I need to fall in love with the ideal to surrender this paltry substitute called "me".

sooooo, we have returned to our oregon home. It has snowed and snowed and it sure is culture shock after living mostly outside for 6 yers in hawaii.i guess will hafta start writing a book as stuck in house much of time. just can't get excited about going out to play in 40 degree or less weather

our home here was calling us tho, lots of little household projects to fix, faucets( i guess plastic seals wear out even when not used), driveway( all rock dissapeared into mud), fences(elk deer and cows just tore them down), and many other unobvious problems.
then in a fit ff something i brought home a milkcow..jees.
so now we have butter wow and yoghurt wohee and sent for some cultures for soft cheeses.i won't sell milk although everyone in town has come by to ask.since it costs 15 bucks to drive to town for a quart.
this week I expect the arrival of a portable milk machine as both of us have cramps in hands and lots of booboos trying to keep milk buckets clean of hay and hair and crap.
horses are happy to be home and the dog seems estatic. no more constant earthquakes all the time.
so busy and busy and setling in.
hoping to get one year off of work before i think about next project. but definetly thinking the carribean or maybe south south seas fiji or something close to that.

adventures are great but home is wonderful

and more is suppose to fall the next few days..but as soon
as it stops snowing, it settles and melts down enough so
it's not three feet deep, which it would be by now...

But seriously, after looking at them thoroughly, which i
suppose could be called a "CATscan", i think they're
probably real..the question is..WHY?..

Maybe the artists are trying to CATapult their careers..

They seemed to have a good CATalog of pictures..

The most talented artist is sitting in the CATbird seat..

What CATegory would those paintings fall under?..

i bet if you could sell one for enough money, you could go
to a CAThouse..

Maybe see a CATfight..

Anyone?..

The long awaited moment is here (for me at least). My novel Y3K is finally in print. The first part is a reasonably faithful description of Sunnyridge, only set a millennium in the future. Below is a short description.

Y3K is primarily a look back from the year 2999 at the world’s looming social/ecological crisis from the viewpoint of Max and his extended family; thirtieth century hippie communards.

Loosely based on the biblical ‘1000 years of peace’ subsequent to ‘Entropy Gaia,’ the earth’s near death experience, it describes an ecotopian world where society has advanced far beyond war, exploitation and deprivation; where humanity has learned to live lightly on the earth and allowed a natural Eden to regenerate.

However, their hip earthly paradise is under threat—Satan returns—from the very same callous and disrespectful attitudes towards life and the environment that we are dealing with today.

Y3K is a road novel that nearly circles the world. Travel along with Max through a fascinating and flourishing communal movement as he plays his part in trying to protect the world’s forests and counter the destructive new mania for growth.

There you have it. If you enjoy my writing, you’ll appreciate Y3K.

Y3K can be purchased online at the publisher, wingspanpress.com (scroll down to bookstore) and other online bookstores. Be the first on your block.

cover.

Y3K is primarily a look back from the year 2999 at the world's
looming social/ecological crisis from the viewpoint of Max and his
extended family; thirtieth century hippie communards. Inspired by my
own five years of living communally, the beginning of the book
unveils an evolved form of that lifestyle in the old growth forests
of the Pacific Northwest.

Loosely based on the biblical '1000 years of peace' subsequent
to 'Entropy Gaia,' the earth's near death experience, it describes
an ecotopian world where society has advanced far beyond war,
exploitation and deprivation; where humanity has learned to live

Hello all, hope everyone's doing well on this..4th day
of spring..

i'm trying to maintain my sanity after an Orthoscope on my
knee Wed. i'm not good at having to have people do what
seems like everything for me! i manage to wipe myself,
but other than it seems like i can't burp without help!..
( actually, i don't wipe, i just hold it in! )

i do seem to have maintained my warped sense of humor
though...

i go in on the third of April to get the lowdown on the
results of the surgery. Until then, i just find new ways
to smack, pull, bend or otherwise torture my knee! You
don't realize how nice two lower limbs are until you lose
the capacity to use one of them...

But, despite all my efforts to the contrary, it seems to
be progressing in a positive direction towards healing..

As Howard Cosell use to say: "The knee, the knee, always
the knee!"...( FRANK! )

Well, i see a wall i haven't smacked my knee against, so
i suppose i better do that asap...

Peace and goodwill to all ( except that bastard MB and his
Gollum-like sidekick Cheney..)

Hop-along-Mijaddy.

Peace.

Ps. thanks for the well wishes Ted, i saw your note on
live chat..

May the happiness of a thousand hooker customers bloom
like daffodils throughout everyones lives..

Huh?..

From:     Mij     3/27/2007     11:23 A.M.

i had orthoscopic surgery on my knee last wednesday
Kelse....although smacking walls and running into inanimate
objects has always been something i've aspired to, it's not
as pleasant when your knee looks like something Steven King
would write about!..
Seriously, it had been "popping", sometimes rather loudly
and with good amounts of pain, for awhile, so i finally got
the gumption and perserverence to have it looked at and
they decided after X-Rays and MRI'S that an Orthoscope was
necassary. i went to a Physical Therapist yesterday and
he made me feel alot better about the whole thing, said
it looked good and that i should eventually have almost
full use again. i'll be out of work for a month or more,
that sucks worse than gravity, but not much i can do...

i'll let you know though if i sense anything painful about
to happen!...

Hope all is well with you hon, and thanks for your...
concern!..i'm here to entertain, what can i say..

i don't "kneed" mental help though, but i could use
some well "kneeded" rest...everyone is "kneedling" me about
my situatuion...
i'm off to "kneed" some bread dough...

Let me know if you "kneed" any more info...

And, it's snowing here a bit.."kneed"less to say it's
a bit colder than normal..

i think i'll listen to the rolling Stone's "Let it kneed"

MB?..No, too..loud and painfully unispiring. And, he's too
ugly to waste perfectly good letters on.
Cheney?..might as well talk about MB.
Tom Cruise?..he's like MB, especially when he jumps up and
down on a couch..scratching his armpits.
Don Imus?..he "blacked" out the other day. it was a "dark"
day for radio..
Mij Notae?..he made racist remarks and tried to hide them
behind Don Imus.
Weather?..it's raining.
Food?..we already covered that.
Firetrucks?..OK!

Finally! Something different!..and i bet it was the last
thing you expected!

And since we're talking about them, do you know why a Fire
Truck is painted red? Well then, let me regale you on that
very subject!..

Because,
-A newspaper is read too.
-And two and two is four.
-And there's four inches in a ruler.
-And Queen Elizabeth was a ruler.
-And Queen Elizabeth was a ship too.
-And a ship sails on the ocean.
-And fish swim in the ocean.
-And fish have fins.
-And the Fins were defeated by the Russians.
-And a fire truck is always known for rushin'.
-And that's why a Fire truck is painted red.

Wow, the shit i never knew!

Well, so much for fire trucks.

Guess that's all, later.

Peace.

cool.

God...no way?
Hey, God may very well be the formless eternal reality and all...
but the word "God" is an evolving concept subject to atrophy and deterioration as well as expansion and hitherto simply unseen possibility.
God...no way?
To speak or not to speak.
To be vulnerable or hide.
To be defensive or to be willing.
God...no way
Tao...the way
Cream...no whey

Hi Everyone--
Sunnyridge is known for the classic event,
"Two Token while Taken"(Hi Stan) way back in the 70's--
But we all missed the event of "4/20 Day" last
Friday on this chatline--
But lots and lots of people in CJ had '4/2o'
parties or just stopped whatever they were doing
and took time to have 'a toke' around 4/20--
I'm sorry to say, I was one of the forgetfuls--
But its nice to know that 4/20 day is alive and well
in southern Oregon--
I would like to remind everyone of this upcoming event--
It's around September, 2008--That will be the
Anniversary of Sunnyridge, 40 years young--WOW!!!!
I thought I should remind us chatters(what, about
10 of us) that sometime chat with us now, so they
could pass the word around in the coming months--
It would be a great time to dedicate this anniversay
to all who are gone now, especially Peter and Jim!!
Would love to have some input--
Peace, Love

This was an interesting experiment. "Is beauty noticed?"

"... It's an old epistemological debate, older, actually, than the koan about the tree in the forest. Plato weighed in on it, and philosophers for two millennia afterward: What is beauty? Is it a measurable fact (Gottfried Leibniz), or merely an opinion (David Hume), or is it a little of each, colored by the immediate state of mind of the observer (Immanuel Kant)?..."

The Washington Post does this experiment in context, perception and priorities -- as well as an unblinking assessment of public taste: In a banal setting at an inconvenient time, would beauty transcend?

so busy so little time to write got cowbabies coming out me ears..also we had to butcher our huge steer that took a week and we thought we would have a heart attack trying to get carcass hoisted in barn for skinning, even bigger than an elk...jeez.actually first time i had to use a 12 foot ladder to tuen hide loose from hocks...we could not keep our knifes sharp long enough so allan scribbling away at stone while i skinned and yanked.have freezer full to brim and house freezer too..sure wood like to trade some good organic beef forsome other commoddity..as we just can't eat beef only or probably shoudn't. we bought a lovely grill on sale at Bimart and have had several barbecues while the weather was warm and sunny..was great. i love farming, nothing like your own foods that ya know don't have melamine in them. the dog in seventh heaven with the homemade beef trimming and oats and rice, so don't hafta worry about poisened dogfood either.
so far i have resisted planting out flowers as it is still freezing at nite, but we did get our little greenhouse back up, have one more day of work fastening down and can start tomatoes and lettuce, spinach, and marigolds and calendulas. happy to see my bulbs and fruit trees and honesty and poppies survived the six years of neglect and no weeding watering or fertilizing. is amasing but once i weeded i found a gorgoues garden..
so other than fencing, building, animal care and gardening we don't have alot going on. i hafta finish off another scientific paper i just got the tailend of data for, and apply for a value-added grant to start a specialty dairy. i want to make brown cow yoghurt...although my cows are kinda black chuckle. sounds bad tho black cow yoghurt.

Hey Ted...yup, I got high speed internet. Fun video's you posted. I especially liked your golf ball collection. Cool thing is...you don't need no 'stinkin' golf course' to practise your swing.

So do you hit those suckers back out daily?

To bad the Eaton's can't view them.

Actually, it may be a good thing. Think of the endless Mij 'diatribe' we'd all have to endure if he could view it?

Oh, Oh, I think I just opened the Pandora's box...he's going to be hounding me to view them on my fancy 'high speed' computer.

Really I just wanted to let you know Ted that I really enjoy reading this chat page.

We all live such busy lives and although we may not contribute to the dialog, many of us 'vicariously' check in to get our dose of reality and that warm fuzzy feeling (like checking in with Mom) to make sure we have a collective vision and we all remember what 'community' is.

I think it's important for you to know that you've played a huge part in keeping that communal 'fabric' together. THANK YOU!

PS Rita...I did remember 4/20 at 4:20 with my son's traditional phone call (this year a text message at precisely 4:20). Love those holidaze's!

Thank you so much Ruby, that's very flattering..now, flush

Hi Leah, good to hear from you. Hope all is well..i always
get an ache when you mention your dad, and the same with
Jim..they still float around this site i have no doubt..

Been really busy..with what i don't really know!...lifes
minutia which although at the days end adds up to squat,
it nonetheless contributes substantially overall towards
the final mosaic of a full day..

Speaking of absolutely nothing, How about we peruse the
world of the weird, strange, and bizarre..( kinda like
reading my postings! )

-A former Hooters waitress is suing the Panama City, Fla.,
restaurant after claiming they cheated her in a contest.
Jodee Berry says the top waitresses from all the Hooters
were entered into a contest to win a Toyota. Jodee was the
excited winner of the contest, and was led, blindfolded, to
the parking lot. After an agonizing wait, the blindfold was
whipped off, and there it was!..a toy...Yoda! Yes, she was
given a toy Yoda, about 4' tall, made out of ceramic! The
officials of the contest claim it was not misleading, but
Jodee is suing for the value of a new Toyota nonetheless.
( i'd take the toy Yoda..it's the "breast" prize..)

-In Geneva, Switzerland,( where the hell else would it be!)
a 32-yr-old man won a lifetime supply of toilet paper after
proving that, while blindfolded, he could identify
different brands of toilet paper.....by taste.
( First, exactly what is a "lifetime" supply of toilet
paper?..this family could "wipe" out a fairly good-sized
forest inside a year!..
Second,..ahh, that's it. )

-A san Francisco man unveiled his one-act play called
"The John". it will be staged in the men's room at the
city's Maritime Hall throughout the month.
( sounds shitty. )

-A South Wales woman has told her husband to decide between
her and his ventriloquist dummy.
Maureen Roberts says her husband, Ray, sets a place for
"Charlie Boy" at the dinner table and takes him on trips
to the supermarket. "I thought it was funny at first, but
it's grinding me down now!" she said. "Ray spends more time
talking to a lump of damn wood than me. if i had my way, it
would be kindling..i can't even watch tv without the thing
chipping in with stupid comments!"..
( kinda like having a Mij around..)

Speaking of high intelligence..

-Chaddrick Dickson, ( isn't the name enough! ) 25, was
hospitalized in Monroe, Louisiana, after being wounded by
the .22-caliber bullet he was trying to smash against the
floor. Dickson said he was trying to remove the gunpowder
so he could mix it in the dog's food to make him "meaner".
( Chaddrick shouldn't be allowed within a 1000ft of any
living or breathing creature what-so-ever....and he should
do something about his name. )

-In New Zealand, a woman suffered a fractured skull caused
by her 3-yr-old boy who repeatedly hit her with his toy
truck for 30 minutes! Said the mother, "Yeah, he does that
to people sometimes".
( She should be spade and neutered immediately )

Speaking of strange animals...

-A mother duck in Vancouver, B.C, saved her ducklings by
chasing a police officer, grabbing his pant leg, and
leading him to where her brood was caught in a sewer.
Vancouver police officer Roy Peterson said when the duck
grabbed his pant leg he thought it a bit goofy and shoved
it away, but it grabbed his trousers again, led him to the
sewer grate, and sat down. He went up to where the duck was
lying and saw 10 little babies in the water below. After
he rescued the ducklings, the mother gave a "friendly peck"
and marched her babies to a nearby pond.
( What the duck is going on! )

-Every Sunday morning in the small town of Sabrado,
Portugal, "Preta" the dog gets up, leaves her owners house,
and trots 8 miles to church in the neighboring village of
Ermesinde. Preta saunters right up to the church's altar
and lies down. She rises when the congregants rise, and
sits when they sit. Afterwards, as soon as the service is
over, she trots the 8 miles back to her home again.
( Well, dog backwards is god afterall...)

-In Cave Junction, Mij Notae finally signed off the
sunnyridge chat. According to fellow chatters, the relief
from his exiting the chat was like a "spring breeze
caressing ones soul"....

And all joking aside, thanks Ruby, i appreciate your
comments...i really am flattered.

Peace all.

Hellooooooooooooo...........

The evening news is on..a more annoying broadcast would be
hard to find. We, the family, could easily power the modern
western world for a good half century were we able to
somehow harness the energy expended during our ranting
which occurs during said broadcasts..
Same ol' craposis: War, drought, pestulance, and basic
overall worldwide misery and unfortunate events..and of
course the never ending, always the same, rhetoric which
oozes like a smelly slime of goo from MB's mouth..

Luckily there was a story on an ice shelf the size of
California which was recently found to have melted off the
Antarctic ice shelf...finally, a happy story!

And there's going to be a story soon on Anna Nicole Smith!

She's still dead...

But, other than that, i really enjoy the news.

Alrighty then! just thought i'd pass that little tid-bit
of info on.

Anyway! i'm outta here! Been a slice, hope all is nice,
don't think twice, i have a friend named Brice, i can't
stand Condoleeza Rice, i'm unlucky at dice, kids get lice,
elephants are scared of mice, a winning lottery ticket
would sure be nice, if you do meth you'll pay the price,
i can't stand Condoleeza Rice, i just decided to say that
twice, coffee is my current vice,...

In truth, I've been out of the chat room loop for a while... but will soon post a story of "Two Token While Taken" which was actually a headline posted in several newspapers around the country

From:     stan
stancam@ekit.com     5/22/2007     11:32 A.M.

Two Token While Taken

Well, there we were – Me and Phillip; buck naked hanging around the plants, stoned, naturally, when rifle toting police show up. The patch was quite close to the courtyard, on an old logging road which I mistakenly thought was impassable. Story was, the police had been clued in by some Jesus freak who had been snooping around the claim aiming to cleanse his county of the evil weed.

They weren’t sure what to do with our nakedness; they were inclined to wrap us up in sheets, which I protested to vigorously. I absolutely insisted they take us down to the courtyard where we could get our clothes.

As we walked down the hill we passed within 100 feet of one of Ted’s small patches which they amazingly didn’t notice. It was in front of some small trees but still completely out in the open and visible. This was good since Ted saved a sizable stash of it for my homecoming.

The courtyard was quite abuzz with our arrival, as you can imagine. I went for a shirt and pants – I think I only had one change of clothes at the time – and immediately realized I had put two joints in my shirt pocket that morning. This is all ancient history, of course, but I believe I was a bit confounded by the logistics of getting the incriminatory stuff out of my pocket with a cop standing by my side, so I just left it there. In the excitement and confusion – lots of irate hippies including topless women milling about – the police didn’t think to search my clothes.

So there we were in the cop car heading to Gramps Ass. Soon after we started up Phillip rolled a cigarette and lit it up. A cop turned around and demanded to know what we were smoking. Just tobacco, we assured them. Once the car was smoked up I lit one of the joints. I think we each got a couple of hits off of it before they wised up to the change of smoking substance.

That simple act of defiance saved my life; well, not my life per se but a damn good chunk of it. Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself. A doctor from New York, who had just come to visit the claim that day, went down to the courthouse to make my bail and while he was at it he had a little private conversation with the judge, who was inclined to let me off easy.

But this now gets a little complicated, you see, because possession or use – ‘token while taken’ – is a simple misdemeanor, while cultivation is a felony with some pretty serious potential consequences. Possession was decriminalized in Oregon in 1973 but this was 1972.

I went to court on the misdemeanor charge feeling irate about having my plants uprooted and my life messed with and righteous about pot in general. As a result, I wasn’t as deferential towards the court or the legal system as I should’ve been, had I wanted to get off easy. In fact I was nearly belligerent: I went on to the judge about how I only grew it for myself and friends, received no money for it and besides told him I thought smoking pot was a perfectly normal and reasonable thing to do. As the session was culminating he was getting a bit stoked up himself and asked, “Do you mean if I set you free today, you’d go right out and smoke again?” To which I replied in the affirmative. To which he replied with a six month sentence in the county jail.

I had been going through a lot of changes in my life – who didn’t at Sunnyridge? – and almost looked forward to ‘getting away’ for a while. However, it didn’t take more than a few minutes behind bars to realize that being in jail was really, really, really not where I wanted to be. Even today, I feel sorry for people sent to prison, even when they really deserve it.

At any rate my attitude towards the system changed with lightening speed. I realized that they had ultimate power over my life and that my five minutes of fame – Two Token While Taken – wasn’t going to do diddly squat to make my time easier, let alone set me free.

I decided I’d better go with the flow. No sense in being a martyr for pot. Within a week I had shaved my head and beard and within two weeks I was made a trustee. As a trustee, I had a bed in a relatively spacious four room dorm, compared to 12 bunks in a very small room in the lock up. I served meals and got to go outside every few days to wash cop cars. I also learned to skin and gut deer: we did the work when poached deer were confiscated. Not long later we had venison sausage for breakfast.
This came in handy, since very soon after I returned, somebody picked up a fresh road kill deer and I was the only one who any idea what to do with it.

Three weeks after I entered the jail, it was time to stand before the felony judge. Believe it: I was as contrite and deferential as a young hairless hippie could be. Oh no, your honor, I won’t do that again. Oh yes, your honor, I’ve learned my lesson: I’m sure not interested in spending a lot of time in your prison system.

So that’s the part about tokin’ up in a cop car that saved my life. The felony judge had a reputation as a hard ass. Without the wake-up call of spending three weeks behind bars, I would have gone before him with the attitude I had expressed to the misdemeanor judge, and he would have thrown the book at me – ten years in the slammer for sure. My bodaciousness saved me a grueling stint in the Oregon prison system, and made me famous... for five minutes.

Hey... Wait a minute. Two Token While Taken seems to have become the stuff of legend, so maybe it wasn’t five minutes after all.

Questionaire and which one of the 21 questions would be most appropriate. Then I discovered we already had a description of 4/20 on the History Page pretty much dedicated to you and your love(s). Check it out for a few more details everyone...Special Herbs.

Happy Memorial Day all, hope everyone has a great start to
this summer 2007...

Breezy, but nice here in CJ..it's Boatnik weekend in GP and
of course it's a madhouse up there..just got back from
there as a matter of fact..

Check back in soon, until then best to all and everyone..

Peace.

Ps. Ted, haven't had time to see if we get that...i'll try
later and hopefully we can..people starting to show up so
i have to sign off for now. Have a great day.....

Adieu.

From:     Ted     5/27/2007     7:11 P.M.

Boatnik? I'm dying to hear what that's about...
So, the holiday of remembering is upon us, like we don't already remember things ad nauseam. I, for one, will try to remember I am the witness to the noise.
On the other hand...my deepest thanks to all those who out of heroic and noble intention gave of themselves for humanity. Good karma, man.

From:     Mij     5/28/2007     6:46 A.M.

The Boatnik is an annual festival in Grants pass at
Riverside park..besides the usual fare which you'd expect
to find at such an event, such as booths, rides, etc.,
they have jetboat races in high-powered, VERY LOUD jet
boats up and down the Rogue River...may be considered
obnoxious and enviromentally insane by many, but it's
Grants Pass, so there you go!..

Actually, if you can overlook and get past that part of it,
it's quite an event..one of the biggest shindigs of the
year for the bustling town of Grants Pass..sort of GP's
version of the ever popular and well renowned Labor Day
festival that occurs every year in the small, unique town
of Cave Junction..

Well, there you go, the incomplete, biased version of the
Boatnik Festival!..

Have a great Memeorial Day everyone, and that's the way to
come at it Ted..celebrate and honor the fallen in any way
one feels comfortable with..it's not the fallen who'm make
the wars, they're just the ugly backwash of the ever tragic
and uselessness of war..i hope all whom have lost loved
ones under such tragic circumstances can somehow find a
little peace and make their losses a little less horrific..

Sincere peace and happines to all...and happy BBQing!

Adieu.

Sunnyridge Finacial Report
Thanks Rita and mij on your recent donation.
(and thanks for testing out paypal for me)

So Memorial day wasn't really that memorable.
I took a stroll down the beach where they have 1000 white crosses set up with the names of those who have died in Bush's war. No tears, but a little vaklempt.
Made my first "pot roast": Seared the meat, added left over tomato sauce and half a bottle of beer, a few vegies like onions and carrots and cooked at 300 for 3 hours.
Wow!
Next time I will use the solar oven I made last year.

From:     Rita     5/31/2007     6:10 A.M.

Ted, your Memorial Day may not have been very
memorable, but your Pot Roast sounds great--
By the way, you used the word 'vaklempt'
WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?????

THE BLUE MOON tonight, 9:30 P.M.

Through the ages, the second full moon in one month
has been called the Blue Moon--only a few times is it
really blue--We have tome to use the phrase "Once In a
Blue Moon" for something very rare--as an example--
Mij is NOT funny, once in a blue moon--or--
Sunnyridgers use this chatline, Once in a Blue Moon--

From:     Ted     5/31/2007     6:30 A.M.

Hi Rita,
vaklempt means "choked up". It is Yiddish, a combination of German and Hebrew. The word was made famous on Saturday Night Live. vaklempt is that lump in the throat that can signal a readiness to break down and cry. It is the ominous cloud before the rain.
How's that?
I only use the word "vaklempt", once in a blue moon...

soothing time. every time i go to Crater Lake i still get
that "first time" feeling like i'm seeing it for the first
time. Stopped at the Rogue River Gorge on the way up which
is also incredible in it's rugged beauty...we really do

Well Ted,you would especially relate to it because of the familiarity - the stop sign etc. - but all who've read it here in Cambodia - assuming anyone here is normal - have liked it.
I just want it to provide enough income to relieve me of having to work for a living - not a whole lot of money but still something.
I expect to stop in the Illinois Valley this July... seeya

From:     Mij     6/12/2007     5:25 P.M.

Hi all..a sad and somber day here in the valley. There was
a horrific car accident yesterday on Takilma rd which took
the lives of two young local girls and seriously injured
three other teens..

One of the girls was Kiera Richardson, the daughter of
very longtime valley residents and friend's, Michelle and
Jimmy Richardson. Jimmy's mother lived out at Bob's for a
good while when Jimmy was just a boy, so we know him quite
well. Michelle is a longtime friend whom has worked as a
receptionist at Dr. Nordals for many years...
Although i don't have all the details, it seems the driver
was 18 and the others just out of school..He and the girls
and two other passengers ( 5 in all ) were apparently going
extremely fast( estimates are 85 to 90 MPH )when they lost
control and the vehicle rolled..

This is a small community as many of you know..population
has grown, but it's stil a place where something as
tragic as this touches many people...i haven't gone to one
place today where it wasn't being grieved over or talked
about...so, although they don't know this site exists, i'd
like to send them my deepest condolences..from me and my
entire family..to them and their family..our thoughts and
prayers go out to you..

Peace to you..and may perseverence and love sustain you
through this most tragic of times...and to the family and
friends of the other passengers also..

..

Footnote..i'm still getting details of the accident even
as i write this..i have just learned the other three
passengers were released from the hospital and are going to be fine..also, the three survivors were wearing seat
belts and the two girls were not. The driver is being
charged with vehicular manslaughter due to the nature of
the circumstances. Apparently a popular thing to do is
"E Breaking"..you floor it on straight-a-ways and then
stop abruptly..this was what the young man was doing when
the vehicle rolled..

..

I have had the privelege of observing a blue jay family this spring. First they courted, then the male fed the fat momma, then the babies appeared. One got eaten and the other left to join a commune. Now it looks like they made up for the loss. I heard a commotion next to my hammock and what do you know...a little baby blue jay with eyes not even open yet lying on the ground. So now I have the little guy in a shoe box with 2 quarts of hot water to snuggle against. Fed him (or her) some water and bread with an eye-dropper. It is so cute. Hope he makes it or he'll (or she'll) be dinner for the crows. So be it.

Sorry to hear about the Blue Jay Ted...maybe it's on
"Blue Jay Way"....

Been awhile since i've contributed to the existing banter..
i've been very busy, but that's still no excuse not to
post something now and then. So, to make up for my lack
of participation, you will now pay dearly with these!..
( "Sorry Charlie" )

-A Canadian entrepreneur is launching a service that will
deliver talking underwear to your front door. The boxers,
briefs, and lingerie come equipped with sound chips that
say, "Yoo hoo! Pantygram!"
( They should come with skidmarks for better effect! )

-A hospital in Fargo, N.D, appologized after it read a
man's X-rays wrong and removed his testicles for an ailment
later diagnosed as Arthritis.
( That hospital has balls! )

-In Cambridge, Ohio, a teenager stopped by police for
driving with his car stereo blaring at an obnoxious level
was sentenced to listen to 4 hours of Polka music.
( Better than a polka in the eye with a sharp stick! )

Hey, it's been awile!

moving right along..

-In Brockton, Mass., a man with a full cast on his broken
leg robbed the "Dip N' Sip" cafe and fled on foot
( literally! )..he was quickly tackled by two customers..
who broke his other leg.
( Now he can rob from a wheelchair )

-In Blythe, Cal., a teenager ( again with the teenager! )
jumped on a city bus, pulled out a Swiss Army Knife, and
tried to rob it. But he was surprised when his mother, who
happened to be sitting a few rows back, stood up and
shouted at him to, "behave yourself and get off the bus!"
( i guess he was "Bus"ted...)

-A woman in a Prague bakery, after being asked to move
a baby stroller aside because she was blocking a loading
area, injured sixteen people after she repeatedly rammed
the stroller into the line customers.
( She went dough"NUTS"...now she "kneads" mental help..)

-Packets of cocaine from local drug gangs in Rio de Janeiro
have recently been found to have bar codes.
( the police "sniffed" out the info.)

-43 members of Melbourne's "Bay City Scuba Diving Club"
broke the world record for ironing underwater when they
ironed in ten feet of water.
( DAMN! i was just getting ready to break that record! )
( the competition was called "ironman triatha-nylon"...)

That sucked.

Speaking of sucking..

-Police in Lagos, Nigeria, have organized groups of
officers into street choirs to help disperse unruly mobs
by singing.
( "Let go of my Lagos" )

-OK, you gotta keep up on this one!..
A man in Constanta, Romania, was married to the wrong lady
for three years. He met the first lady during a trip to
France. They spent many days and nights together, and when
it came time to depart, they promised to meet again in
Romania. But lady ( #1 ) was in an accident and decided
not to meet due to needing to recover and all. Meanwhile,
lady ( #2 ) who happened to be the twin sister of lady
#1, happened to meet up with the man. The man, thinking it
was the twin sister ( lady #1 ) asked her to marry him,
which lady #2 accepted. They were married for three years
until the man found out it wasn't really lady #1. He has
now filed for divorce...
( i hate it when that happens! )

-In Port Angeles, Wash., prosecuters have charged a 63-yr-
old woman with arson after she set her apartment on
fire because, as she later told investigators, "The kitty
litter smelled and i was tired of cleaning it!"
( sounds like she has "cat's in her belfry". )

Soooooon, very soooooon. this will be over....

But not until this..

A lady writes:
"My very first day on the job my boss asked me to make a
pot of coffee. Of course, i walked right out the door!
He and those other sexist pigs at Starbucks can kiss my
ass!"

it's funny if you squint your brain and wrack your eyes..

-Two cows are standing in a field. The first one says, "i
was artificially inseminated this morning".
The second says " no way, i don't believe you"!
The first says, "serious, no bull"!

And finally..( Really! )

-A Romanian prisoner is suing God.
He claims that God failed to save him from the Devil and
that his Baptism was a contract between himself and God
and that God was suppose to save him from the devil and
keep him out of trouble.
( sounds reasonable. )

Deep thought #25468956642: Atheism is a non-prophet
organization.

I must sure have a sick sense of humor.
I was pretty much strait faced but entertained with your newest, mij, but that cow saying...
"serious, no bull!"
Got me laughing uncontrollabilly

From:     Mij     6/21/2007     6:31 A.M.

Thanks Ted...i really do enjoy posting those...whatever
the hell they are!...i've gone through many hours of
newspapers, etc. to come up with the very few semi-funny
stories i've been able to annoy with. it's amazing, but i
was just noticing an end is near for my "pile o'prose" and
other craposis i've gleaned from periodicals over the
years, so i'll have to start doing some more research into
the strange, bizarre world of people and their mysterious
ways again soon..
Thanks for this outlet, i'm pretty sure i would be hard put
to find another site which would not only post them, but
enjoy them as well...
i'll write again soon, until then keep on keepin' on.....

Peace.

Ps. "Shoot from where it lands" is a game i invented while
i was on the toilet...no, not really, but that would be
appropo! it's real simple: a person shoots the ball, and
after the ball completely stops, the next person shoots
from that spot. it's ridiculously stupid, which probably
explains why we have so much fun with it! Anyway, you
won't be seeing it on ESPN anytime soon, so you'll have to
imagine the intense, mind-boggling fun and the incredible
talent it takes to play it...

Hope peace and tranquility rule everyone's days, and don't
forget:
MB is a waste of good skin and perfectly good brain cells!
They should melt him down and try to obtain whatever
useful matter is left after he's just a pile of quivering
manmeat..maybe use what's left as a trial basis for
Soilent Green..

or not.

Peace.

Hope everybody is doing well on this Monday....of course,
how damn good can a monday be!?..

Saw a couple concerts over the weekend..i'm becoming some
sort of "upper-aged, ex-hippie, just finding culture for
the first time and still a bumpkin anyway" kinda guy..
Been to four or five concerts in the last month..anyway,
i digress! ( can you believe i used such a complex word as
digress in a complete sentence?! )..we went to the Rogue
Theartre Friday and saw a great band called
"devil makes three". The first act, a local solo act who
was trying to be Bob Dylan but came across more as just an
annoying man with a guitar who happened to know a few
notes, was as entertaining as a festering
hemrroid that has been scraped raw by a cheeses grater..
The second act however, made up ten-fold for the screaming
blister man. Called the Devil Makes Three, they comprised
of three people ( Go figure! ) and put out some awesome
sound for a three man band..or in this case two men and
a nappy headed ho..i mean girl. Good show..
Saturday i saw Josh Ritter who was an opening act for....
HMMMmmmmm..forgot her name..oh yeah, Madeline Pereaux.
She wasn't that good unless you happen to prefer sad
people who sing sad songs..great voice though. Josh Ritter
was absolutely great though..they should have switched
the acts..
This weekend i'm seeing "Joan Armatrader" ( i think that's
how it's spelled ) and in a couple weeks
"The Cowboy Junkies"...i'm a man about southern oregon!

Anyway, i'm off to the river...

Hi Larry and Barbara!

Peace.

Summer...the season of excitement..romance..and unexplored

seems to have that sensation of relived memories, as if
this is the season where Deja Vu exists in an underlying
tingle of anticipation..we have been here many times, and
know what's next, yet can't wait for it..as if it's all new
and unexperienced.
Sensations..always there..an almost achingly blissful
feeling that can consume ones entire being..not sexual,
not physical, more like ethereal..feathery and light..
adhering to our souls like a blanket of pure nectar..and
reminding us ever and a day how lucky we are to see, feel,
and experience this ever mystical sphere we call life.

Summer...

Hi Barbara, i'm the son of Lefty and Rita Eaton, brother to
Bob and Sue and Mike and Rick and Patrick..the Hays cut-off
crew. You remember now..but probably wish you didn't!

An amazing day in Cave Junction yesterday. An RV, which was
towing a Volvo station wagon, ran the red light at the
Caves highway intersection..where the Junction Inn is.
he hit two cars, careened off the highway, and plowed into
the "Pizza Pit", a restaurant right there in the
"Shop Stupid" parking lot. ( Shop smart )..anyway, he took
out the entire front of the restaurant! he smashed into the
front, went through the inner part, and came out the other
side into shop stupid's parking lot, stopping a few feet
away from a fireworks stand! The sound was heard all over
town, and people came running from everywhere! within
seconds, over a hundred people were at the scene..including
my nephew Cody, who said it was just plain horrible..
The driver was flown out of the Junction Inn parking lot
by helicoptor, and his condition is very critical. Four
others were injured, but are going to be ok. Everyone is
just amazed and thankful more people were not killed or
seriously hurt. Two employees were in the restaurant, but
no customers because they open later in the day on
sundays. One of the employees ( We saw it on film on the
local news..a surveylance camera caught it all on tape )
had just been walking into the front, but turned around
at the last minute and went back to the rear of the
restaurant..seconds later the mobile home crashed in...

All traffic was re-routed through the side streets of CJ
for over 7 hours! it was a mess to say the least..all of
199's traffic all of a sudden was going through these
small bumpy backstreets..you can imagine how crazy that
was! They reopened i99 last night, and today there's a
huge pile of twisted rubble where a restaurant was just
hours ago..

Well, that's the latest from your ex-home town. Hope
everyone is doing well and i'll talk again soon..

Peace.

Stay cool and have a great rest of the weekend..

Hi Rita.
You live with the greatest comedian in Oregon but still sometimes miss my sick twisted humor...
That "Doctor" is not me. He's got the same name, however.
I did a Google search on my name, just for fun, and saw his website. I thought it might be good for a laugh and a good reminder that we should always be asking, "who the hell AM I, really?"

From:     Ted     7/11/2007     6:33 A.M.

Hi Barbara,
Yes, sometimes I feel the same way, that I am the only one reading and responding to all the sunnyridge posts.
But if you look at the ARCHIVES you will see some active participation in the past. Nina, Betty,Stewart,Stan,Leah,Michele,Michael & Mona, Don Yo, Tom Miley even...Not to mention the famous JAF and beloved Peter. Also take a look at who has posted their profile in our Address Book for more names.

Also, I can see from a program that is available to "webmasters" that sunnyridge.net actually gets quite a bit of traffic from all over the world.
Stan said he visits quite frequently but doesn't leave a message. Stew says the same thing.
So thanks for adding your beautiful voice to the site, Barbara. Maybe you can encourage Larry to say a few words.
AND REMEMBER:
All Sunnyridgers...Add your profile to our Address Book.
Email or send pictures you have to add to the site.
Send your artwork...your recordings of music...

I thought I would remind everyone something that Rita pointed out:

I would like to remind everyone of this upcoming event--
It's around September, 2008--That will be the
Anniversary of Sunnyridge, 40 years young--WOW!!!!

So...
Any thoughts on a REUNION!!!!

Hello fellow ex-hippie types...

We had a once in a decade thunderstorm yesterday ( actually
it was the day before..time flies when your having brain
loss! )
Anyway, it was awesome. constant lightning for three hours
that lit the night like daylight, thunder that shook the
house and rattled your brain ( in my case, not much
rattling actually occured..) and LUCKILY, a good douse of
rain with it. There was still fires satrted but not nearly
as bad if it had been "dry lightning"..
EVERYONE talked about it the next day of course! From the
Building Supply to Shop Stupid, from the O'Brien Store to
the Dairy Queen, it was the biggest thing since The Pizza
Pit was demolished by an out of control mobile home! i tell
you, this town has seen more action lately than
Heidi Fleiss!!
Well, that's your hometown update for this, the 12th of July 2007....for more information, please log on to:

Hi Everyone--
We had a wonderful visit with Stan and
Mike Menge yesterday--Lots of laughs from
Old stories, new stories and just plain crazy
stories.
Stan, you look great--for some reason I thought you
lived out in the jungle in some village type setting--
I was truly surprised when you told me you lived in the
capital city of Cambodia in a nice luxury apartment--
And it was especially nice seeing you again, Mikey Engem--

Sunnyridge 40 Year Reunion
Barbara, I think the best way to get the Reunion thing started is to just throw around a few ideas right here in the Outhouse.
(any crappy ideas can easily be disposed of)

here's a few...

How would you Eatons like to host the reunion?

Could we have it right on the old Claim site?

What's the story on the "tree houses" place...room enough...expensive...how far from the claim...etc?

Is the place we had the last reunion still available?

I could make a web page just for the occasion so we know who is going and perhaps, like a pot luck, who is doing what to make it happen.

Would we want to combine it with a Meadow's reunion (Woodstock 2008).

If all proves to overwhelming we could have a "virtual reunion" online for a few days. I'll have to think about that one.

From:     Stan     7/19/2007     10:40 A.M.

The campsite we used before is still around and has the advantage of toilets and cooking facilities. Doing it at SR would probably require portapotties - There's certain to be more than a 100 people considering all the kids and now grandkids.
As for me, I've just done a reunion tour of my own - 9 places in 17 days - and saw relatives I hadn't seen in 20 years as well as Ted and Jim in Santa Barbara, Don Yo in Arcata, Mike and the
Eatons in CJ, Larry and Barbara and Demetra in Eugene. Altogether a great trip, and I'm psyched for SR 40th reunion.

From:     Rita     7/19/2007     12:47 P.M.

Sorry folks--We Eatons can't host the reunion--
We only have room for 99 people--

But here's a great website at the place we had
the 25th reunion--

www.countryhillsresort.com

Can you make this URL work Ted??

From:     Mij     7/20/2007     7:45 A.M.

Good Morning fellow ex-hippie types..

i can't add a lot of input as far as where it would be
good to hold the reunion..but i'd just like to say it's a
cool idea and i hope it comes to pass..
Our place wouldn't work..to many reasons actually, but
suffice to say it's just too unopen..all the trees that
were not so big 40 yrs ago have now grown into full-sized
trees, and what little space we did have is non-existent
now..
( We could always clear-cut the property real fast! )

But whatever is decided i support, and i look foreward
to attending..and of course anyone who wants to is always
welcome to come by here...

i hope this all works out, and hopefully we'll be seeing
each other in the not so distant future...

Peace and tranquility to all..

Adieu.

Ps. 40 yrs!....wow...pretty cool.

i'm gonna go change my depends now..

Later.

i'm thinking about my dad so thought i would drop by. had a far out dream about him the other night. . . we were chatting. . . i told him i was a bit confused, "you're dead" . . . he said, "i'm confused too. i'm still dealing with my unconscious". i woke up knowing that jimmy had visited me.
i'm living in a highrise in seoul korea. . . teaching western culture to business people. . . tomorrow i'm going to honor my father on the anniversary of his passing in the korean style. . . .. . . make a special meal for him . . . and bow four times . . . inviting him to join me . . . my korean friends say that it is appropriate for me to be dreaming about him at this time. . .
love to all of you out there . . . thank you jimmy! jaf lives!

when i say i'm "teaching western culture". . . i mean that i'm helping koreans understand western culture . . . so they can have an easier time doing business with us. . . teaching adults is quite a bit different than teaching kids. . . way less stress and a lot more intellectually stimulating . . .
. . . those that know me will remember that i had begun a masters program in eugene. . . well. . .. i got a kidney infection two weeks into the program and got booted out because i missed too much school. . . kept coming up against brick walls. . . and when i moved with the flow it brought me back here to korea. . .

From:     Mij     7/23/2007     4:46 P.M.

Thanks Ted, always good to make someone laugh..usually i
have to pay them..

Hi Michelle! Good to hear from you...glad all is well..

Two cents worth:
Sounds like the old Woodland Echos, which is now Country
Hills, would be best..facilities, semi-close, and it's
not Kerby!

End of two cents worth.

So, what is it with Kerby, and what did they ever do to
me!?

Speaking of absolutely nothing, did you hear MB does not
have cancer? There is no god.

hey, i don't mean it, i just don't not wish it would
happen..

Huh?

In other news, Cave junction is still between Grants Pass
and Crecent City..officials say they predict a continuing
of this location, although many residents believe they've
been secretly relocated to a place where trees are no
longer allowed anywhere on, near, close to, around, in
the vicinity, close to the area, even thinking of being
nearby or adjacent to, the north end of town...

Luckily the trees were an eyesore and begged to be
eradicated from the face of this way to tree covered earth!

Have to go, until next rant...

Adieu.

Yeah, Adam is in "the hole", poor guy. We all have our ups and downs and our beautiful and ugly side. If you remember Adam, he was at the last reunion and and said, when everyone was sitting around introducing themselves, "I was at Sunnyridge...just not physically". Anyway...if you do decide to write him and want a return letter I would highly recommend you include a self-addressed and stamped envelope and maybe a piece of paper to write on. He doesn't get much to work with where he's at.

HI all! my name is Terry I lived further up Althouse Creek from Sunnyridge in Browntown a friend sent me this web site. I am in tears and my heart aches looking at places and times I yearn for. We were forced out of Browntown and lived in a TeePee in a magical meadow high above Sunnyridge .I gave birth to my first child (LIKAIA) at sunnyridge on feb 16 1974.with the help of the wonderful women at the Ridge.I think I gave birth in the Lodge, not sure, I later moved to Takilma and lived at circle S on the other side of the river.I lived with John ,Eddie, and Danny we all came from Reading Pa. I now live in Orange Ca. I have four wonderful daughters I work for Hospice as an aide I'm single and poor SHOCKING!! I would LOVE to hear from anyone that knew us. PS I had no idea Sunnyridge was also brought down so very sad. Love to all Terry

From:     Mij     8/2/2007     6:05 P.M.

Hi to all you whoever you are that are reading whatever
it is that is being written by whatever i am about
whoever i can...

If that makes sense, you should seek immediate help.

Hi lady from Browntown! ( sorry, i've only just seen your
message once and of course being the drug soaked brain
mass that is called my mind, i couldn't retain your name
from the time it took to read it and sign in...)
But, we were close to the Browntown folk..at least for
awhile. The people i remember was Browntown Bill and his
sister Gayle or Gail..i think there was a Peter also.
That was 34 or so years ago, so the fact i can remember
that much is quite amazing.

Anyway, thought i'd add my 1.5 cents worth..i think you
were there after that...

In other news, MB still cannot talk, think, feel, or
even utter what once passed as complete sentences. His IQ
is lower than the Minniapolis bridge..

OOOHHHHH...

OK, so that was a bit...crass! What do you expect after
3 thousand hours of the same drivel, something different?!

Well, luckily for everyone i'm off to my softball game.
Good to hear from someone who was around in that same
time period lady from Browntown, hope you keep in touch
with the site...

Peace.

Hello all fellow people who use to sit around the fire,
watch the rain, and eat brown rice in-between acid trips
and woodruns!..

Hope everyone is doing well..we were talking reunion a bit
ago, and i wanted to say i went this weekend to a gathering
very similar in attitude and meaning up in Sunny Valley..

Vickie had old stomping grounds around that area and some
old friends were having a combination birthday party and
celebration of old friends and old memories..the host was
60 and all his friends and aquaintences from the old
communal and hippie days from all around Wolf Creek, Sunny
Valley, etc came and celebrated. i really didn't know
anyone, all though some people did look familiar, but it
was just the same in..atmosphere and familiarness with the
past...all good people whom came to the area in the 60's
and early seventies to get away and do something different.
Some of you may know or remember the people who attended
if you were ever in Sunny Valley or Wolf Creek back then..

Anyway, it was a beautiful place and a really nice time.
it's weird seeing how far we've all come yet at the same
time never seeming to have changed at all..everyone still
have the same values and political views, etc..yet in
different garb and driving newer vehicles!..

Hope the reunion plans for Sunnyridge come to fruition..
it's good to reunite and remember there's still something
to grasp onto from the past even though so many years and
changes have come and gone..we all came here for the same
reasons at the same time, and the exodus of young people
looking for new everything in lieu of their old nothing
was nothing short of astonishing in it's overall impact
and the permanant roots which were laid down by so many..

Anyway, that's your update on fellow hippies and friends
from the North!..until next time,

Peace.

From:     barbaraw.     8/6/2007     8:05 P.M.

hey mij..i am glad you are more facile on the keyboard than me. nice reminiscences i hope the reunion happens too ..we have to make it happen.. just like the old days you know...manifesting? ok love barbara

From:     Ted     8/7/2007     6:13 A.M.

How depressing to think we have not changed.
Yet that is an observation I have heard quite frequently.
"You haven't changed a bit!"
But the 60's was about real change.
And besides "manifesting", the other big Sunnyridge slogan was "going through changes".
So I'm sending out a thought...
A hope...
Whatever you want to call it.
Let's all dig deep and let the reality of who we really are shine more brightly than our old love beads.
And now a word from "Evil Twin":
"You surely gonna fall off that high horse, Mr. Ted"
Anyway...
Reunion sounds like it is taking shape in the ethers...
manifestation is only a hairsbreath away.

From:     Mij     8/7/2007     4:21 P.M.

But it's ok Ted to not change..at least deep down. We are
who we are and i think people spend to much of their lives
trying not to be what no amount of fancy cars or huge
houses or espresso coffees can alter..those things can and
do make people PRETEND they're someone whom they really
are not..i guess it's the material plane in which we exist
and thrive that colors our innate being..
That's why i'm not..very keen for lack of a nicer word, on
"organized religions". i believe to many people spend so
much of their lives trying to figure out what "it's" all
about and where and what and why and etc..they figure
themselves out of an amazing opportunity that who or what
bestowed upon us in this unbelievable thing
called life. i'm not begrudging anyone who does aspire
to such beliefs, it's just my outlook on why and what and
who i am..i don't see the point in throwing myself, body
and soul, into something that, when it comes down to it, is
still just a word on a page which was put there on this
same linear level of existance that we wake up to
everyday..which brings us to that thing we as humans have
decided to dub as "time"...a theory i believe to be not
possible. There is no such thing as time, there just IS.
if putting a label on this force which we can only fathom
as time helps us cope with it's immense presence, then who
are we to make waves over something that's so finite and
final..

Anyway! That's the "Doctrine of Life" by Mij Notae.

I'm off to play softball..a hobby upon which many such as i
find interesting and thrilling enough to take what passes
for our minds off the presence of is..

Peace.

Ps. By the way, i'm an IV graduate, who ingested more
substances by the age of 35 than most entire labratories
of rats and mice and guinea pigs put together, and have
been thumped, banged, whacked, boinked, frapped, and
konked on the head more than a MB pinata at an Iraqi
frat party!....so don't put too much stock in what the hell
i say!..

Peaceagain.

From:     Ted     8/7/2007     8:20 P.M.

Ah what a beautiful mixture of insight and humility. You are a good guy, mij notae.
It's funny how both sides of an issue can be completely right. To change or not to change...that is the question.
To polarize the issue...that is the bane of mind.
Luckily we have all been a pinata at that Iraqi
frat party and are for the most part out...of our minds.

From:     stan     8/8/2007     7:00 P.M.

out...of our minds... and PROUD of it. To borrow an old trite saying; If you're not crazy then you're not seeing life as it really is.
But would we trade it? For normality?
Changing gears.... We don't need to do anything about the reunion nown aside from letting everyone know. Action can wait till springtime.

Then flushed.

Probably google again tomorrow..

of course the older we get googling doesn't come as easy

it's mind googling really..

The rooster in the morning says "cock-a-google-doo"..

Of course, spelled differently, it could mean something
else entirely; Googull..a bird covered in slime.

That's about it for todays lesson in google/googull.

Peace.

2 times! I had beets yesterday and googled 3 times today. I love beets and that is one of their wonderful side-effects. I'm sure everyone is hearing more than they actually care to about this, but I'd venture to say most of the senior citizens of sunnyridge appreciate a good google. Maybe this is the start of a new adventure, like the "tabtee" fiasco.
On another note...
Llucy...what memories the blackberries in Holland bring!
Bet the grandkid loved the ice cream.

Cool Paper Sculptures

Hello everyone, It's been a while. I am so glad to see Barbara and Larry online! I have so many wonderful memories of you guys! The tabla, the bellydancing, stories of Max and Selma. The reunion sounds great!

I have been living in Portland for a little over a year and so far I really like it. Denver is really extreme. Too hot, cold, and crowded.
I googled you Barbara and I see that you have art up at the Beanery. Very cool - I remember the book you did for Leah's birthday! That was so awesome! I wonder if she still has it?

Had lunch with Stan yesterday. We shared stories and pictures - he goes back to Cambodia today.

I do paper sculptures too, but not amazing ones like this guy! Check it out!

Hi to all you Eatons! Thanks Ted!

Hi Larry. Good idea.
Barbara, you used to have a website with your work on it.
Do you still have it?

HEY...FOR THOSE WHO NEVER READ THE ABOVE MENTIONED "TABTEE FIASCO" HERE IS THE BEGINNING FROM ONE OF THE EARLIEST "ARCHIVES" FROM THIS CHAT ROOM:
ARCHIVE 2

FROM Bill ...................Sep 3, 1999, 22:59 (EST)

Hello, looking for and info about what i remenber being called tabtee or something like that , its been a long time but i remenber the effects as mind blowing.

FROM Peter...................Sep 8, 1999, 15:46 (EST)

Who is Bill? Tabtee?
Is he daft? Most people would be unwilling to share such knowledge with just anyone, but we at Sunnyridge have always been magnanimous, and altough I know there are those who will be upset by my revelations, here goes: In fact I remember Tabtee
very well and on those occasions when I was involved it certainly provided a very positive experience- I remember Aron Greenberg waxing on poetically on its esoteric and holy properties, especially when applied to some eroticaly esoteric fol-de -rol... on the other hand when Larry saw it in a chart it was alwaays a Sign of something and Barbara's
Tarot deck would have to be consulted so that the tabtee could be properly put into its cosmic context especially when someone walked up the driveway with a pouch full of them. Also, as I remember it they were of many colors and when we took them to town to the laundromat it was always easy to tell them apart so that Beany could nail them up in "his" workshop, formerly kids room, middle room, sauna, while others could be planted in the garden.
Oh yes the Tabtee... I remember them well... remember when the dogs got a hold of them and we found them out on a far away wood run, among the detritus of the logging operations. One time I acdtually saw some of them hitching a ride up the mountain on an empty logging truck and then hours later saw them waving from the top of some logson the truck careening on the way down. But when you ate some with your oat meal and honey in the morning, with the kids around the black stove and coffee and Jimmy and Rita then you knew that later in the day at the swimming hole you would see them and the eel making their nest. Yes you could also hear them once in awhile while we chanted or the drums and the flutes were doing it oh yes the Tabtee ... it was good. I also remember Tabtee on the planks of food we brought into the Lodge when we inaugurated it and Tabtee was also there when babies were born and ...all the time... Got it Bill?

Painting 2
I'll probably make a page for these and more to come, I'm sure.
Also going to make some pages with photos that are just plain beautiful rather than historic. Soon to come.
Meanwhile I rescanned (digitally remastered) the following web pages:

Much appreciation from this webmeister to Michelle Silver for a generous donation!
I should probably put a little more emphasis on some money-making gimmick. The "virtual commune" seems to have been a big flop. But, like Sunnyridge itself...things manifest as needed.

Barbara--It is so wonderful having you on this
chatline--And when I viewed your paintings all I
could say was 'WOW'--And I do love that line you
wrote "love to the Sunnyridge of the Imagination"--

Ted--Thanks for rescanning the 'Old Kitchen"--It is so
much clearer than the one I have hanging on the wall--I never noticed before, but Lefty is half hidden behind
Bob and Ron, who is holding or hanging from the rafters--
I tried accessing your 'wine press' picture but after 10
minutes it was still downloading, so I clicked off--
All the other pictures came up okay--
Lefty made some great Elderberry winein the early 70's--
I was the 'brew meister'--I brewed and bottled many bottles of beer--It was yeasty tasting, and strong--
some folks called it 'Mead'But through the early 70's,
the bottles were drunk with pleasure and so were we--HA

Peace, love--

"Ted the Head" in 4th grade Can you find me?

From:     Ruby     8/21/2007     8:22 A.M.

Good morning! I say WOW too about Barbara's beautiful paintings! You are a pro! I went to art school from 1988 - 1991. I always loved art, but during and after attending art school I've looked at the world so differently and with much more appreciation and attention. It forced me to do things I normally wouldn't have done, like life painting and life drawing! My first attempts of the human form resembled squids...the bodies seemed to have no bones! I got a little better with time. I have some pictures I will scan and send to you Ted, if you want to post them.
The guy hanging from the rafters is Goerge, my ex-husband and father of my 2 sons. Aleph was born at Sunnyridge 38 years ago, on August 19th. Kahlil was born up in Newport a yeart later and then we returned to Sunnyridge for another round.

Love that dress! And who did your hair?

But why were you so pissed off?

From:     Ted     8/21/2007     6:14 P.M.

Man, I thought it would take forever for someone to recognize me in that picture. Good job, SIG!
The reason I was pissed was because of my hair. Mom did it. As far as the dress goes, what's wrong with it?

Ruby...definately send those photos and I'll post 'em.
And HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO ALEPH!!!

Barbara, I just posted a message on the Questionnaire (on the pending page right now). It's a sunnyridge episode about spaghetti. Check "what's new" to read it.

From:     Rita     8/22/2007     8:15 P.M.

Ted--I guess that is you--I still have a sneaking
suspicion that you are 'pulling our legs'--The
hair is okay , but the dress?? Were you in a play
or something?--The other boys were all in suits and
ties and no mixture of girls between them--At the
same time across the country in Phoenix, Arizona-
Bob's 4th grade, boys and girls sat together, and the
boys dressed in Levis and T's--
The East is still prim and proper while the West is
definitely more laid back--I like them both--
But please Ted, why did you wear a dress????????????

Peace, Love

From:     Ruby     8/22/2007     9:12 P.M.

Ha ha ha...did anyone think that the boy that looks exactly like a mini you wasn't you? I see which one you are!!!

From:     Ted     8/23/2007     6:19 A.M.

Mini-Me...wasn't there a movie about that?
Yes, Ruby, that's the actual me, complete with clip-on tie and corduroy pants. The girl was named Susan Svelte (actually Velt, I think...an definately not svelt[slender]. I apologize if this sounds like I am making fun of her. All the kids I grew up with had problems. In fact just about everyone I know has problems.)
And Rita, sweet Rita...I am beginning to think that either you are quite gullible by nature or that you have come to trust me a little too much. Either way, we all share gullibility. In fact, I have heard that the Goddess, Shiva has duped all of humanity as well as each individual into thinking we actually are the shadow of reality rather than reality itself. Hey...got a fortune cookie the other day that said, "Look towards the sun and the shadows will all fall behind you".

From:     Sweet Gullible Rita     8/23/2007     10:45 A.M.

Ted--Yes, I prone to being gullible, bur trusting is more
me--I still was suspicious if that was really you, but you
'got me' with giving accolades to Sig--I didn't think you
would go to school wearing a dress--
But that was fun Ted--

Peace, Love

Been busy so haven't had a lot of pute time..cool to see

I just got in from my softball game, we beat the only
undefeated team ...which means they are no longer
undefeated! Anyway, i hit a three run home run that turned
out to be the game winning runs..

Well, i'm off to bed, it's late and i'm still blitzed
from the smoke session which we have in the parking lot

Hi Everyone--
A little trivia from the Eaton household--
Last night I went to my great granddaughters
birthday party--She is nine--the party was fun--
Llucy's daughter Gracie was there and Donnalee's
two granddaughters were there too, Willow's
girls, Camelia and Anika--Torun got a guitar that
she was thrilled with, but her prize was a DVD
player and some discs and she jumped up and hugged
her mom when she saw the title 'Hello"--I immediately
started singing 'You say hello and I say goodbye'
Torun was so surprised that I knew the Beatles--And
it made me laugh--here is Torun 9 and I am 82, liking
the same music--Who says 'never the twain shall meet'

Peace,Love

From:     Ted     8/25/2007     6:11 A.M.

Well HAPPY BIRTHDAY TORUN!!
And so happy you got such a wonderful revelation, Rita.
It's a small world (yet vaster than we imagine).
time keeps on slipping into the future (yet eternity is in the present moment called "now").
Got any pictures of this grand occasion?

From:     Mij     8/25/2007     7:17 A.M.

"Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin', into the
future..time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin', into

fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me..i'm going to fly
like an eagle, till i'm freeee.. whoa, whoa, whoa, there's
a solution"...

Steve Miller circa 70'-something..back when the brain cells
were plenty and noone ever heard or cared about a Bush..
unless of course it was naked and swimming at the swimming hole!

i know! i said i didn't have a lot of computer time, but
the old adage of there being an "occasion for every song
and a song for every occasion" is so true...for instance,
"the deeper you go, the higher you fly, the higher you fly,
the deeper you goooo, so come on!..come on!..come on and
take it easy, come on and take it easy, come on take it
easy...come on and take it easy, take it easy..take it
easy..everybody's got something to hide except for me and
my Monkey Boy!"

it's time to go..join us next time for "lyrics with MiJ"!

Peace.

Side note: it's weird writing down and actually looking at
the lyrics to past songs which we've heard more times than
MB's reasons for going to war..we've "grooved" to them
and enjoyed them, but when you look at the actual lyrics
they seem so repetitious and basic...almost as if a five-
year-old wrote them!..Sorry John, as in Lennon...just an
observation from a guy who never wrote a lyric in his
life!..and besides, we still love them and couldn't imagine
the songs any differently..

we're all just lyrics in this song of life..i just happen
not to rhyme..or make sense!

Peace..again.

Hello all..

A total Lunar Eclipse tonight..."the moon will touch
the dark inner portion of the shadow at 1:51 AM and will
reach mid-eclipse at 3:37 AM"..
That's the official text from the Weather Page of the
"Oregonian", a newspaper some of you may remember from your
travels of yore. Now, what the hell that means i'm not
exactly sure! it doesn't just say when the hell it will be
totally covered, i'd guess around 2:00AM or so, but i'm
sure the exact time could be found easily were one to
apply himself...( leaves me out i guess! )

Should be viewable to most of the west coast, so check it
out if you happen to be weird enough to be up at that
ungodly time of night!

Peace.

Well, I didn't get up in the middle of the night but awoke at my usual time, 4:30 (I know...I'm weird)
The moon was still half covered by the shadow of the earth.
If the moon is representative of the lesser light...
the mind...
It was tonight overshadowed by, eclipsed by, out-created by...
The glory of this creation.
Something to think about.

From:     Ted     8/28/2007     8:43 P.M.

I've seen some of these before, but they're still heartwarming to read again. We all could learn a lot from small compassionate little ones.

What is Love?
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean?'
The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:

'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'
Rebecca- age 8

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'
Billy - age 4

'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.'
Karl - age 5

'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.'
Chrissy - age 6

'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.'
Terri - age 4

'Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.'
Danny - age 7

'Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss'
Emily - age 8

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.'
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

'If you want to learn ! to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,'
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.'
Noelle - age 7

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.'
Tommy - age 6

'During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching
me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.'
Cindy - age 8

'My mommy loves me more than anybody. You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.'
Clare - age 6

'Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.'
Elaine-age 5

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.'
Chris - age 7

'Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.'
Mary Ann - age 4

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes'and has to go out and buy new ones.'
Lauren - age 4

'When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.' (what an image)
Karen - age 7

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it's gross.'
Mark - age 6

'You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a
lot. People forget.'
Jessica - age 8

And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, 'Nothing, I just helped him cry.'

Rita...ask Torun "what is love"...let us know what she says.

Barbara...Looking forward to some of your paintings and Larry's artistry now too.

Watched a fascinating show two nights ago on Pol Pot's regime in Cambodia. 1.7 MILLION men, women, and children murdered, many after forced confessions, by a psychotic and paranoid regime. Those who carried out the executions were often in their mid- or late teens. To date, no one has ever been prosecuted for any of this.

Fascinating?
Well, I guess that word's appropriate.
I would tend to use Marlon Brando's famous line from "Apocalypse Now"...
The horror...
The horror...
I just checked YouTube on Pol Pot's regime and was horrified. I remember "The Killing Fields" also, but at least the movie had some heros in it to compensate for the horror.

Khmer Rouge tribunal is to begin soon, however, most of the bad guys have already died of old age. The government has stalled for years, probably because too many in power today will be mentioned in the proceedings.
In fact the US is ultimately and largely responsible for pol pots carnage because the CIA deposed a legitimate government in 1970 then started a secret bombing campaign which further destabilized the country and gave Pol Pot a great recruiting tool.
And to further pour salt on the wound, we kept the KR in the UN for several years after Vietnam invaded and kicked them out of government.
Anyway knowing the people now, as tolerant and easygoing as one can imagine, it's mystifying what happened except to understand that once a despot gets in control it's extremely difficult to unseat him.

Back in 72 when we had our summer of 80, Jupiter was in Sag. It feels like reunion time so i'd guess it's back there again

LABOR DAY--The Working Man's Holiday

Facts you might not know--
In 1894 President Grover Cleveland made
Labor Day a National Holiday--
In 1937 the minimum wage was 25-cents an hour--
In 1941, I worked for 20 cents an hour--
Did anyone work that low or lower?
In 1942, I worked for the General Electric Co--
Their Union(CIO) was strong and I made $1.20 an hour--

Wishing all you delightful Sunnyridgers a most
Joyful Holiday--
Peace, Love

I made a new page for the photos Barbara and Larry are sending. It's on the LINKS page and is called THE WEINSTEIN GALLERY

From:     Rita     9/6/2007     6:54 P.M.

Hi Everyone--
Barbara, those were excellent photos and the pictures
of you and Larry are great--You both look so healthy
and vibrant--
Ted, that is a wonderful link page--I've only been
a few places on it, but the nostalgia is
"tragi-melancholy"--And thanks a million Ted, for posting
my Webpage--WOW--I felt like a celebrity--

More Trivia--
We watch "Who wants to be a millionaire--Yesterday
a guy won $500,000 and was going for $1,000,000--
I've never seen a million dollar question, it gets
exciting and you're rooting for the 'guy'--Now he has
already won the $500,000--If he goes for the million
question and loses, he drops way down to #25,000--
Here is the question--I knew it 100%--I screamed and
jumped and was as excited as if I had won the million--

What British ship was NOT in Boston harbor for the
famous Boston Tea Party--
A.Eleanor, B.Dartmouth,
C.Beaver, D.William--

I know Sig knows because only a month or so ago,
I asked for the names of those ships--I knew two
of the ships and Sig knew the third--
Thanks Sig, it was so much fun just knowing that
answer--The contestant hemmed and hawed and finally
said "I'm walking, that's my FINAL ANSWER"
He did know the correct answer, but you can't
feel too badly with only $500,000--
Any fellow chatters out there know the answer??

There was a Tea party? And i missed it?! Thanks alot for
inviting me!

i was sure the ship was Lipton.

By the way, it's REAL early...

i didn't have time to check out the pics Barbara, but i
will as soon as possible..thanks for sending them.

Been busier than a one legged man at a..whatever a one-
legged man would be busy at!...( maybe a prosthesis fitting
contest? )

Speaking of tea, my coffee is getting cold.

Did you know the name of the four ships at the Juan Valdez
coffee soiree?

Did i mention it's REALLY early?

i'm off to rent a "Margaret" in GP ( Thatcher )..going to
give my girlfriend's lawn a facelift before winter. i must
say i've never used one, so i have no idea how it works
or what it's like..hopefully the lawn will look better than
Margaret!

Once again, for those slower than me, that would be a
THATCHER!

Thatch all folks!

Peace.

Hah! thought i was done, didn't you?!..

When eggs are in an incubator, they are getting ready to..

Well?

You got it! THATCH!

Peace-again.
