Hi everyone. My dad passed away on Feb 4th and we just got back from spending the week in Florida. My dad was truly amazing, happy and smiling up to the end. I think it was because a large part of his being was unselfish; not much thought of himself. Wish I could say the same for me. Later...
From: Mij 2/13/2008 6:21 A.M.
Sorry to hear about your dad ted, although if he was like
our pop then it was for the best..sometimes there's just
a point where living stops even though the body doesn't
quit functioning..i hope he has a great trip into that
unknown beyond, and i'm glad your back and safe. All our
condolences to you and yours..and don't sell yourself
short dude, selfishness doesn't seem to fit your...person.
We're all selfish in that we want to be healthy and happy,
but it's what we do to obtain that level of existence
which dictates selfishness..
Everyone here sends there love and good thoughts to you
and yours, especially your mom, i'm sure this is very
tough for her..the proverbial "time heals all wounds" is
true, and eventually all the good memories of your dad
will take over the feelings of loss. My mom has done well
since dad's passing, despite having to be around all of
us meatheads!..
i'm glad you've started a new page..it was getting so it
would take a couple minutes to load on our 1922 maytag
computer! Spring is around the corner, and everyone is
ready for a change, so as always everything happens when
it's suppose to and for a reason..death and rebirth, the
ever continuing cycle of this crazy little thing we call
life. Keep your thoughts on the high, and never look down
to the lows..
My condolences to you Ted. My father Jerry passed away almost 2 years ago. Still coping with it.
I hope everyone had a healthy and happy holday season. Today is a GOOD day, my girlfriend is flying in from Phoenix tonite and we are packing up my stuff from here in Houston, aka redneckville, and I am moving back to Phoenix. Spent about a year and a half here. My daughter is 14 now and she lives in Phoenix. I will get to see her lots more and have a little more influence on her life. MIJ, remember when we were 14? nuff said.
Well, I got my Hillary for President bumper sticker last week and proudly display it on my new KIA. I get 38 mpg. Al Gore would be proud!. My old car also had a bumber sticker on it and it said "BUCK FUSH"
See ya

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE
lOVE IS IN THE AIR, DRINK DEEPLY
The commune days was such a wonderful experience--
Love was the essence of its being--we'll certainly
throw in lots of laughter too--And I think 99% of us
still carry that communal feeling in our lives today,
although not so pronounced--
Wishing everyone oodles of love and laughter--

hello all of you sunnyridge family and offspring and relatives etc. please begin to think a bit about the upcoming reunion sometime in august 2008. it will most likely be at the same spot on caves highway as previous. you will be informed as the future unfolds. today the sun went into pisces so we may all be a bit dreamy...and there is an eclipse of the full moon coming as well. hold on to your schedule books but do'nt fret if things become a little unraveled. look inward instead. love from barbara w.
Hi all..
Hey Marc! Sorry i haven't written back a bit sooner..our
computer is about as reliable as a promise from MB.
What i remember most about being 14 was the things we were
not quite old enough to do, such as when we ( i think it
was me and you Marc ) tried to sneak into the beer garden
at the Lion's labor day festival. We were caught in short
order of course, but we outran and ditched the local..
i won't say pigs, how about the "wanna be's"..anyway, we
left them in the dust! Then, about 10 minutes later we
worked our way back, and Tyke gave us a beer over the
fence and we ran off and drank it!
And to think i'm not a NASA scientist..
A late happy presidents day to everyone..MB should NEVER
EVER be part of that holiday...might as well have a
Jeffrey Dahmer Day..
i just checked out the info on the eclipse Barbara. Here in
the Northwest it starts at 5:43, going into the total
phase from 7:00ish to 7:50..reaching Complete total eclipse
halfway between those times. That's tomorrow, Wed Feb 20th.
it's going to be viewable for the entire western hemisphere
and many other areas..punch in "Total Lunar Eclipse" on
one of the search engines such as Yahoo or Google for
more info..
it's dinner time so i'll say adieu for now..hope that
"mush-bag" feeling gets blown away with the serene winds
of contentment Ted..
Peace.

Ok, time for me to whine and complain a bit.
Where is everyone? Not even strangers seem to visit this place anymore, including the "Mad Spammer".
Perhaps sunnyridge.net needs a shower or something.
Anyway,
There are a lot of pages I feel haven't even been looked at and I thought they were pretty cool.
Sunnyridge Reunions (Redesigned and "adult" section password protected...any shocking comments?)
History in Photos (page looks much better and I started digitally enhancing the old photos. There are new pages too...The "Middle room", "Snow", and "Miriam" as well as below)
Sunnyridge SEARCH (there are now 3 ways to search thoroughly the entire site, including a "custom" search by google)
Where was Sunnyridge? (Redesigned "map" page. No one has posted anything on the new aerial page at all! You can drag a cross-hair grid and pinpoint locations on the claim.)
The Barber(Not only a new and interesting photo but you can instantly post to the page via a new technique I have been wanting to test)
The Old Kitchen 2 (Rescanned photo and same method of posting as "the Barber". Only one person has posted to it)
Bob Hale (Not even one posting about this original member and now controversial figure)
Sunnyridge Blog (I finally got some dificult kinks out of this particular method of posting online and was hoping we all might play with it as a forum for the upcoming reunion... I think one person left a comment)
There. I am sure karma will come up and bite me in the ass for expressing such negativity and I am only expressing half of it.
Thanks for taking the time to read this all. Actually I am mostly fine; happy and enjoying the end of winter here in Santa Barbara.
From: stan 2/28/2008 10:39 A.M.
I checked the blog... Has the August 8 day been decided for the reunion? And I thought it was going to happen at the campsite, not SR. That date would be fine with me.
I check the site nearly every day even if I don't comment.
From: Rita 2/27/2008 8:23 P.M.
Hi Everyone--Hey Ted--no apologies, it's good for you
to shout, whine and do a jig every now and then--
It clears your seven sinuses--
I do check the blog everyday even though I haven't
posted yet--
And now I am apologizing to you Ted for forgetting
to post this well deserved greeting
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TED
It was last Sunday, the 24th of February--
I didn't forget, only forgot to post--
So let's all give our dear Webmeister a
resounding cheer for this wonderful website
and for being so good-natured at 59--
Love, Peace

just looked at the sunnyridge blog..i don't think august 8th is set yet , or is it? seems like it ought ot be at the place on caves highway where folks have choices about accomodations. larry and i will be in santa barbara next week and will be able to disscuss this live with webmaster and others. until then...don't get too fretful about the difference between hilary and barack.. i am not sure there is any..and not that that is so bad either..let's hope it's good i am babbling now but love to all of you out there.barbara

Thanks Stan and Rita. Sorry for complaining out loud.
Barbara, when are you leaving?
Are you making any stops along the way?
Can't wait to see you guys.
The weather has been gorgeous for the last few days.

This was my big 60!!!
From: Mij 2/29/2008 6:25 A.M.
Hey all!
Happy birthday Ted, and thanks for this wonderful site of
which i've neglected to write for too long..and as far
as whining goes i believe it would fall more into the
category of curiosity..
"Where have all the chatters gone"...by Peter, Paul, and
Ted!
Actually it seems to be feast or famine, one day there will
be 10 posts and then noone writes for a few days..but,
whatever the case, thanks for keeping and maintaining this
cool site Mr. Meister, and you can whine any damn time
you want!
What's a Jewish girl's favorite wine?
"i want to go to Hawaii"!
There's a reason i haven't posted in awhile!
Be back in a sec....
Whew! had to take a MB and wipe my Cheney! the morning
coffee doing it's thing...
Anyway, speaking of bodily excrement, i see John Mcain
is pretty much what the re-republicans have to dish up for
the American voters..he's about as inspiring as the MB
i just flushed! Can you imagine that stiif for 4 yrs in
the White House? Suicide victims would survive just so
they could kill themselves again! i'd rather get a check-up
from DR. Kevorkian and have dinner with Hannibal Lecter!
So, you still rueing my not writing?..that's what i thought!
Actually, in all seriousness folks, i really do think this
election can be a turning point for our ravaged country
and it's oppressed citizens. But, if we as a people allow
another one of those evil automatons with their creepy
smiles and bucolic personalities to continue to run this
country straight into the perverbial shitter, then pass the
toilet paper and soap because we'll be neck deep in their
offensive offal, poking our heads above the stench just
long enough to make Ted's whining look like a lilting
melody!
Sorry about the whining crack Ted!
Wow! time flies when your having none!
May the peace of a lifetime enfold us all in an eternal
embrace of happiness and prosperity..
Adieu...
Footnote: i'll make sure to take my meds!
Peace.
From: eugene hill 2/29/2008 9:45 A.M.
hello all...
i have not written here in a long time probably since i do
not feel very nostalgic these days... which is what brought
me to seeking out my 60's roots and how i found this site...
cold cold winter down here in new mexico... but have been
playing music on a regular basis at the local coffee shop
pizza parlor on friday and saturday nights... there are
really quite a few excellent amateur musicians around here
and i really get a kick out of it...
spring is in the air... finally... i really hate the winter
as i cannot tolerate cold any more... never really could
but damn... it did not seem as cold 40 years ago...
re: politics... is it really less than a year until this
abortion of a presidency will be gone... personally i am
on the obama bandwagon... i just do not want to see the
bush bush bush clinton clinton bush bush... thing go on any
longer... that first bush bush bush is because daddy was the
vice president in both ronald reagan terms... how
many people remember that?
i am just sick of these people... that is the negative
reason... the positive reason is that obama is inspiring...
i remember both of the kennedys and obama is the first
person since 1968 that has inspired me to believe in the
possibility of great leadership... of course whomever
gets the democratic nomination gets my vote... that should
go without saying... what do we do if another republican
gets into office... heaven help us... and i do not believe
in heaven...
wish i could get to your reunion... but finances are tight
as my wife and i are hoping to start a much needed remodel
of the house... both bathrooms are the pits and the kitchen
is at least 20 years old... even if i do all the work myself
it is at least $15,000 dollars... and probably two years
to complete... plus want to upgrade windows... heating and
cooling (high efficiency) and eventually add some solar
to green up the place...
though i do sometimes miss the wild and wooly days here at
sunnyridge... i think we were successful at driving off the
ones that made us so angry with their support of bush and
the christian right (or is that christian wrong... i think)
so perhaps success has become its own kind of failure...
we did so love to rant at the IDiots... that is a term now
prevalent on the science blogs for the ostriches of the
creationist/intelligent design ilk... how long have i
desired the chance to use 'ilk' in a sentence...
well that's it for now i guess... hope all is well up in
the northwest and southwest and where ever everyone else
is...

Hi there Eugene--It is great hearing from you again--
This family is on the same 'link' with you in many ways--
House repair--we are waiting for money to reroof "this
old house"--also strengthen gutters and inside some
floor work in the back--I'm getting excited about it
being done--I love this spot we call home--
I love your take on politics, it's our thinking right
down the line--Even before Caroline Kennedy endorsed
Obama, I was saying that Obama definitely reminded me of
JFK's bid for the presidency--Young people came forth in
droves just to hear him speak and to work for him to get
elected--The word 'grass roots' was born then, and I was
right on the front line--Now Obama comes along, and all of
a sudden, the young folks are flocking to hear him and vote
for him and work for him--I'm truly glad about this, but it
certainly surprised me too--
We do need a change and we will get one, but in the meantime. these last months have to be watched carefully--
Bush has no shame whatsoever--he's evil--he lies- sponsors
throughout the world secret prisons with torture for
breakfast--It makes me ill--Everything he does or wants
to do is illegal--You know all this, so I'll stop my
tirade right now--
Eugene, take time to drop in once in awhile==
Peace, Love

Hello Everyone,
It's been quite a while since I've posted anything in the outhouse. We spent the last week at our place in Cave Junction and ran into Rita Eaton (Hi Rita) in town and learned of the planned 40th Anniversary reunion set for this coming August. PK (my wife) and I will definitely be there.......since we're in CJ quite a lot. Anyone out there know who's planning on attending???
I look forward to seeing lots of old and young faces.

NEW DATA
THE PLANNED DATE FOR THE 40TH SUNNYRIDGE REUNION HAS BEEN CHANGED:
We found out that the place is booked for that weekend and are currently working on reservations for at least the 5 room motel for AUGUST 22ND or 23RD, 2008, FOR THE WEEKEND (the next week)
i haven't seen him in awhile, but i of course knew Patrick
and he was one of my biggest fans when i had a radio show..
i was talking to my friend's son, Brad, who's an IVHS alum
and current assistant coach for the wrestling team and at
first he didn't recognize the name..but when i described
the trademark long blonde hair he immediately said "OH!
You mean the biggest IVHS sports fan since Ken Mann!"
i guess he's been one of the most loyal cougar fans for
many years, rarely missing games for either the boys or
girls, often traveling to most away games too..which of
course was what he was doing, coming back from i believe
a IVHS girls basketball game..
Brad said he'll tell a lady he knows who's been involved
with IVHS boosters and other curricular activities for
many years and see if she'll look into a memorial of some
sorts for him..he would like to see his image put on the
gym wall where other past Alum/fans/etc have their
"silhouettes" posted..
i hope you have a good trip Patrick..
Sounds sort of strange at this point, but happy
St Patrick's Day to all..Patrick would want nothing less
i'm sure..
That's a nice pic Ted, that's how i remember him..
i think we need some laughter..too bad i'm the one who's
going to try and provide it!..

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE
Easter is spiritual, it is also fun--Enjoy the day--
The funeral was nice..quite a few people attended. It was
at his place, and he was buried in the field below the
house. They had a microphone and after the initial family
members said something in tribute to Patrick, anyone who
knew him and wanted to say something was given a chance to
do so..
Anyway, i gave him my own adieu while i was standing in
the back with some friends..we toked some joints and had
some laughs..and hopefully he went to that next phase with
a smile on his face..
We're getting ready for the Easter get together..hope
everyone has a great day, and remember: You can prick

Good morning everyone. I am so ready for it to stop raining. The weather guyss are promising a great weekend...70 degrees! I hope they got it right this time.
I reserved a motel room for the reunion. Not because I'm too prissy to camp, but it will probably be towards the end of a week long camping trip and by then I will need a shower. I can't wait see you you all. I don't think we will be able to go to the swimming hole. My husband broke his back 20 years ago and has been in a wheelchair since. We have been up to the claim and he can get around up there, its just that the path to the swimming hole is certainly not accessible. Does anybody know if there are any accessible swimming places? Thanks, see you all in August.
From: barbara w. 4/8/2008 8:58 A.M.
how nice to hear from you ruby.. i agree about the weather. it,s abominable but that is often the oregon early spring story. can,t do much about it. i hope you and the weather godesses are right about what is coming. i don,t think you are prissy for moteling it. i am just glad you and your partner will be there. it might be possible to swim right there. there is no hill to navigate to sucker creek right behind the campground but it depends on the water level. if it is high there will be more water and less rocky beach.
Wow, I got a request from Albert Tabackman for the sunnyridge password and discovered a lot more about our neighbors, FOREST FARMS.
They are having their 40 year reunion the week before ours! Maybe we should reconsider the date and have a west coast woodstock 2008 festival!
Here is Abie's email:
Hi Ted
I was a member of MagicForestFarm in 1969 and visited "The Mining
Claim" numerous times. Peter and I and several others went to High
School at Bronx Science. I had originally connected with folks in
New Paltz in 1967(?) then took a trip around the country with my wife
Judith and 1 year old son Aram to look for land. We came back to NY
and extolled the virtues of Oregon to our friends in New Paltz
including Alan and Reva Weiss. After getting caught up in the NY art
scene we finally cut loose from the city in '69. We had word that
many of the folks in New Paltz had heard our glowing description of
Oregon and moved there. We found out from someone that Alan and Reva
were in Takilma and we headed out. When we arrived in Takilma a few
weeks later we discovered that A & R had just moved to NM. We
happened on MFF and felt that it was home. A couple of days later we
visited Sunnyridge and discovered while sitting around the table one
night, shooting the shit, that nearly half of the people in the
discussion had attended Bronx Science. A small world.
I plan to return to Takilma this summer for the MFF 40th reunion.
Check out the reunion website magicforestfarm.org. I've noticed
that my image appears in about a third of the photos on the site.
Do I qualify. Just kidding. It's fascinating and nostalgic to look
back at these images etc. My life has changed so much.

CHANGE NUMBER AND COLOR AND THEN TYPE HERE hi barbara! my email's in the private section of the address book. i'm woefully bad at correspondence, but i do try. i owe several email now. i don't have a lot of energy for sitting at the computer. i see elizabeth pretty often - we live a few miles from each other.

Just changing the font back to normal.
Glad you had fun playing with the features, Alice. Looking forward to seeing you in August. I think we are all a bit slow these days, so don't fret none.

I was cleaning up my email and ran across one from Ruby. I think she wanted to share the following pictures with everyone from her trip to Newport, Or. (2007)
And Ruby...I added Mckenzie's picture to the updated, re-scanned, reunion page called Shaman
From: Ruby 4/22/2008 2:09 P.M.
Hi Ted, Thanks for adding my Christmas day pictures of Newport. It was nicer in December than it is now, go figure. Spring is bound to arrive some day! It's Earth Day, Happy Earth Day everyone.
Also thanks for updating McKenzie's picture on the Shaman page. She looks a little different these days and rarely ever naps. That photo was her college graduation Dec. 2007. She just graduated again, this time from Portland State U with a masters degree! We're proud of her. She heading back to Denver to find work and play house with her boyfiend. Boo Hoo for me - and the beat goes on.
I heard that Aleph (my oldest son) and his family might come to the reunion. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I hope you are all having a nice day.
Barbara, I finally got to make your cranberry bread recipe. It is go yum! Thanks!! I had a can from Thanksgiving still so I used canned.
Nice to hear from Alice too, I sure hope you can make it.
Love to all

I left a note on the Bulletin Board, Ruby and everyone. You sent me an email a ways back about an idea for the reunion.
From: barbara w. 4/23/2008 2:22 P.M.
hi everyone...You are certainly right about last december being nicer than now, Ruby. but eventually it will come round...maybe those of us who persist inOregon just need stuff to keep us stirred up , more than other people sometimes. L arry would hate that idea i am sure. He is really moaning about the yuk outdoors so send him some warmth eveyone. also send me some good luck cause i just submitted my work to a couple of upcoming shows so we shall see. Leah, I hope you can make it.

Hi everyone who isn't someone who was never anyone that
was at Sunnyridge..
Huh?
Glad to see that so many of you have plans to be here for
the reunion, should be an awesome stroll down what's left
of my memory lane..
As for what's up here in the beautiful land of Southern
Oregon, not a hell of a lot! We're currently in an eerily
cool and damp weather pattern that's more akin to
February than late April. We've recieved about 2" of rain
the past two days..low snow, down to the valley floor at
times..just 5 days ago it was 84 degrees! But, luckily this
has absolutely, positively, unequivically, NOTHING to do
with that global warming crap!
Actually, my experience with warming globes has always been
quite pleasurable...
Ted, sorry i haven't taken up a bit more space lately on
this most wonderful of websites, been caught up in other
things..actually, i'm trying to write a little story..so
my compute time is being directed more towards that in
the recent months..anyway, i still check in all the time
even if you don't have to be assaulted with my questionable
diatribes!
Our town has a few changes on the way..many of you may
remember "the new cafe" a little place that was in the
middle of town for many years. Anyway, to make a long story
that's not that interesting even less interesting and
longer, it will soon become a "Dutch Brother's"..i suppose
it was only a matter of time, they have a coffee stand in
every city and town between Tim, Buck and Tu.
Pretty damn exciting huh?
While i'm at it, i'll tell you that other incredibly
exciting story about the paint drying...
Maybe later.
Ok, that's about all the excitement one hippie chat site
should have to stand for one evening..hope everyone stays
healthy and we all see each other soon..
Peace.
