hello everyone - just checking in...a retirement community, hmmm? It seems so far away, but that's just illusion, i know. I just finally got a scanner, and tried to upload a "now" picture in the address book. Teddy, I'm sure you've explained it before, but could you do it one more time

Alice's Profile

Hi Alice
Congratulations on uploading a picture...you look great!

The address book doesn't have the capability right now of uploading pictures so I designed something new.

You can be the first to try it out.
It's an individual profile page.
You can edit it yourself, upload pictures, and hide personal information from the public.

Click on the link above.
Click the "edit" link and use the password "alish"
(we'll change it later...for now anyone else who wants to experiment can do so)
Type something about each of the pictures.
Click Save.
You can add (or replace) 10 pictures and write as much as you like about each...or no picture and just write.
The last picture (the 10th) is "hidden" on the page so that's where you can put your email address or phone number etc.
(us sunnyridgers can see it if we click "private" and enter the "Sunnyridge Password".

Have fun!!!!!!

Welcome home ILLINOIS VALLEY LIBRARY

OUR WONDERFUL Branch Library has been closd for
two and half year--To me that is DISGRACEFUL--
Having said that, I won't look back, only look to the future--
And the future is promising--
This morning at 11:00 the door was officially opened, and it
truly was a grand event--Half the population of Cave Junction
attended--I was a little misty-eyed remembering my nineteen
years there and remembering most of the people there too--
Small towns are great for that--Again, it was a most happy day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the Lions club LABOR DAY FESTIVAL began today--
Three days of fun, games, bingo and lots of Hotdogs--
Some of you Sunnyridgers might remember the Festival--
It was born in 1972--

Have a most enjoyable weekend all you wonderful Sunnyridgers--
Peace, Love

ted - why are you assuming that? it's been a week - and the possibility is intriguing and i look forward to using it. about 2 wks ago i spend over an hour with tech support and finally figured out how my scanner works. first, i need to get my photos digital...we're not all geeks (i mean that in a warm and loving way ted, this site is great). anyway, give us old non geeks some time to make it into this century.

i'm on a lot of email lists for liberal causes - i sign a lot of petitions. anyone here want to be sent those requests? i think once they have your email, you won't be able to get off the list, so i like to ask friends first.

Ah...I knew I'd regret venting a little frustration. Sorry about that.
I too am on a couple email lists

I have been chatting with friends from college days in New Paltz. A bunch passed through SR and many stayed awhile. Gosh, there were so many people that shoed up in the Summer that we hardly learned each other's names, but I said that I'd ask. On the outside chance that someone reading might remember Roz Zarr and Freida Eisler from a visit in 1970, Roz is trying to locate Freida who stayed in Oregon. If you know her whereabouts, please let m know. Thanks and plenty of hugs to all of you.
P.S. The photo is Faith's son Jack who is 16 months old.

Well, I just realized, half-way through the day that it was the anniversary of 9/11.

I am still thinking about that awful day, awful to the human heart, but nothing out-of-the-ordinary to human history. We are all just dreaming and half the time it's a nightmare. My prayer, if I choose to call it that, is that we all wake up.

From:     alice     9/11/2009     2:17 P.M.

thanks for the "wake up" ted. too many thoughts are flooding my brain when thinking about why the world is as it is, and why so many beautiful religions, all teaching the same underlying principles of living life in the moment, leads to atrocities.

From:     alice     9/11/2009     2:21 P.M.

ellen sue - i can't believe roz was at sunnyridge. she was my roomate at gage hall. i spent most of that quarter staying over at my boyfriend's apartment so i never really got to know her. in 1970, i was living in takilma or obrien with Mike Menges, so i guess i missed seeing them

From:     barbara w.     9/12/2009     10:30 A.M.

my thought about atrocity is...someday if all us humans are totally free of judgemental thoughts, anger, and resentment towqrds others than atrocity, which is the bigger picture of all that small petty stuff, will also fade. i doubt if it is really possible until we are ascended into other forms... seems like part of being incarnated in human form is about the constant struggle of seeing thenegativity or prejudice in our own selves and then wotrking really hard to change it into something else... just my thoughts.. love barbara w.

What a beautiful truth you share Barbara. Perhaps the most consoling words I ever heard spoken concerning atrocities was this: Nobody ever dies! I can't help but surmise that the deeply humanitarian drive in us is a point-of-view from hard won past life experience and the efforts in this life to let the sweet cream of our nature rise to the top so it an be passed around without hesitancy.

From:     Mij     9/18/2009     7:07 A.M.

Hello all!

It's so nice to see the chat going strong, i've been in my own little world
lately and haven't had, or thought i didn't have, the time to write and say
hi and of course to annoy and basically make everyone scratch their heads
in total bewilderment!

First, i'm already in retirement...i go to work tired and come home tired
again...or, "Retired"! It's an old one i know, but then again, i'm old!

Been a really nice summer here in good ol' CJ..we had a fun season of
softball and "D" Section...."D" Section is basically where all of us illegal
and obnoxious players and fans hang out and smoke, drink, and be....
obnoxious! We're illegal because of our pervasive attitude of partaking in
massive amounts of that horrible weed that seems to be so prevelant in
our valley....actually, we use to hang out in the park proper until they told
us we had to take it elswhere, so me and my friend Morgan asked an old
high-school aquaintence if we could use his land that borders the park
on the other side of the left-field fence..many of you may well remember
Doc Versteeg? He was the only doctor here for many years back when we
were running around naked and taking acid?...a good man, just wasn't big
on painless proceedures! Anyway, his son, Ron, said as long as we were
careful and respectful to the property, we could set up shop and use his
property, so about 15 or twenty yrs ago we started "The D Section" on
Labor Day so we could all watch the softball tourney and basically be the
annoying dickheads we've always been! We've done lots of work to make
the area a place that's nice to hang out..cut all the weeds, cut stairs into the
ditch for easy access, etc...this year we put up a tarp for rain...
Anyway, over the years it's become a tradition, and many fans and
ballplayers look foreward to it and i do believe this year we had at least
50 or 60 people out there! We even made signs that say "welcome to
section D", etc....there was a barbecue set up and a very festive and fun
time was had by all...we had players whom came from places like Crecent
City or Bend, etc, tell us that they've heard about it and couldn't wait to see
what it's like!....it's pretty cool....

So much for the Softball portion of the program!

Let's see....what else is going on that you don't want or care to hear
about?!....

AHhhhhhhhhhhh.....the mints! you would not believe how amazingly prolific
it is this year! Just an example...i saw one the other day that woud make
Johnny Hempseed think he'd died and gone to heaven!..about 15 or 16 ft
tall and probably just as wide...and not just one, but many! i can't help
but think of you Stan whenever i see the absolutely amazing size and
number of said mints that is being grown in this valley! ( i'll always
remember that time you had plantzilla Stan!..i remember my dad standing
next to it, a big smile on his face!..i was just a kid so maybe it seemed more
massive than it was, but it was pretty cool! )..
Anyway, the sheer amount and size of gardens in our little valley is almost
ridiculous....you can drive down any of the roadways and see them...
Some might say it's gone too far, but i think it's just a small space in time
where we're able to do this before things change and it will never be like
this again...

Anyway, so much for the mint portion of the program!

As for myself, i've seen the end of one relationship and have seen the start
of another. My friend Vickie and i are no longer together, but have remained
friends of which i am so glad...she loves this site Ted and always is
commenting on what a great job you do to maintain and keep it going...it
was of course a very tough and sad time for both of us, but we've
maintained our friendship and still keep up on each other's lives...she'll
always be someone whom i think of with a deep fondness and hopefully
we'll always be the good friends we always were...i wish her nothing but
great things and happiness. My new friend and i are just seeing each other
on a casual basis and get along real good, and i hope to keep having the
pleasure of being her companion and friend...i have no idea why i'm
blessed with the great pleasure of being with such nice ladies, it must be the
mickies i slip into their drinks!..but seriously, i'm awed and amazed to have
had the incredible pleasure of being with Vickie and i hope when she reads
this she'll smile....

Everyone in the family is doing well...mom has healed up from her broken
shoulder and is still able to stand all of her sons! We don't make her dig
ditches anymore, but she's still able to split wood!...i'm going to have her
change my oil later today!..

That was sarcasm folks!

Well, i'll say adieu for now and wish you all a great rest of summer..the
weather dickheads are saying we'll be back up near the 100 degree
mark next week, so summer is definately hanging in there! it's good for
the giant mints, but not very condusive to lowering the fire danger..i was
looking at the long-range winter outlook and "they" say that a developing
"La Nina" will give us a dryer and warmer than normal winter...also not
good news for future fire danger...

i'm sure there are things i haven't said that i wish i would have, and things
that i've said that i wish i wouldn't have! But i'll make amends when next i
take up valuable chat space!..

Stay well and all the best to everyone...

Peace.

Glad to see the mints are proliferating and not facing the Federal Mint Patrol. Reminds me of living in Yunnan Province China where it grew on the main streets in the 90's. Lately the cities have been deminted, but it's still everywhere in the countryside.

Seems like we are on Earth to problem solve inside a matrix of intelligent life forms living in a complicated environment that involves suffering but also amazing beauty and hope. This is the balance we have to seek in our daily reality. There's an old Chinese proverb that says, "We count our misseries carefully and accept our blessings without much thought".
I personally want/need to focus more on gratitude! There really still is a lot to be grateful for...

We live in times where if you watch the news it can be pretty depressing, but gardening is one thing that manifests hope.

From:     Ted     9/22/2009     5:03 P.M.

Wow...awsome garden, Ruby.
I like your suggestion. I have even found that the more your count your blessings, the more seem to come.
And I've found that looking at things that we take for granted with an open mind we are suddenly flooded with whole new reality. How cool is it that we have bodies that actually repair themselves? How cool is it that women can actually birth and feed another human being! How cool is it that the world changes the sceenery all the time.

Thank you for the nice comments Ted, i'm glad my rather warped sense of
humor and strange diatribes do more to incur smiles than frowns..which
of course is my goal when i'm writing said comments. i've come to realize
as time rolls on that i've been blessed ( or cursed! ) with this innate need
to bring things out in a humorous light without seeming frivolous in my
feelings...a sort of subdued seriousness which is the only way i know how to
deal with what sometimes seems like an overwhelming flatbed load of
life's craposis...

If that made sense, i'm glad...because i'm not sure i understand what the
hell i just said!

Moving not along......

Good to hear from you Eugene, and awesome pics...it's sunsets like that
which brings back hope and serenity to what can sometimes seem like
un-serene times...i'm beginning to think that the news should come with
warnings..."may cause uneeded and unwanted depression and sadness"...
the latest being that Mackenzie Phillips has now written a book declaring
that her dad John of the famous "Mamas and the Papas" had an
incestuous relationship with her for over ten years...also, that she was the
"victim" of very early drug use when she was only 9 or 10 yrs old...
why she's coming out and declaring all this ten yrs after John's death i
don't know..Michelle Phillips is denying that any of it happened, although
the younger sister verifies it all to be true...

I myself was also doing drugs and smoking pot at a very early age..i think i
was 10 or 11 when i did my first hit of acid, and we can see that it had
absolutely no adverse effects!...effects!...effects!....effects!...........
( that's me twitching uncontrollably! )
Anyway, i have no idea what the hell my point is! Just reflectiing i guess
on things....i'm saddened though to hear that about John and would hope
that it's not true, but....

Other than that the news is a glorious and uplifting thing!

Don't mind me, i'm just rambling!...

Let's see, what's new..or old..or just plain not interesting! How about the fact
that noone has anything to say politically..especially about Obama. Less
than a year ago the chat was filled with everything political and
presidential..and a slow day was having only 30 bad things to say about
good ol' MB!...anyway, my point, of which i rarely have one, is that i'm
wondering what everyone's take is on the current state of affairs?...
Personally i think that just what i thought would happen has occured, and
that is, the country would get bored with Obama's attempts at righting the
countless wrongs that the last inhuman administration so purposely and
successfully indoctorated, and eventually their original elation would turn
to a sort of political ennui, and that the far right has successfully blitzed any
and all things Obama tries to do with an organized campaign towards
making anything he does a negative instead of a positive..so now of course
as usual the very short and cerebrally limited attention span of your average
american has become tired with such dumb things as war and health care
and is back to their good ol' "Reality TV" soaked existence....

Boy! Glad i didn't get too opinionated!

Well my friends, i'll leave you to scratching your heads over another one
of what i hope is my never boring but always senseless little blurbs!

Later!

Mij

( Oh yeah...that's an awesome garden Ruby!...)

Peace.

I do believe we get a glimpse of that illusive thing called "truth" when we contemplate paradox and pun.
If I am honest with myself, I find I am "here after" some pretty seedy stuff...recognition, pleasure, avoidance of pain at all cost etc.
I must say I am not so much into what is "after here" but rather what is hidden in the here (and, of course, the Now).
It's all about love, forgiveness, brother and sisterhood, and the yearning for the ideal, the true self, masters that exemplify the ideal, and the willingness to identify with and be that ideal.
But my mind has other agendas it still thinks are worthwhile keeping me hostage to this world of hard knocks.

Delbert ~ That was inspiring to read. One would hope that all could see how rational his presentation of the flaws of today's health insurance structure really is. In this chat room so many of us have been focused on wellness for so long that it's plain to see that the present system is not about wellness at all but profit to the elite AMA class of doctors and the powerful pharmaceudical industry. Those who have been following this saga from the perspective of alternative healthcare also know that their concerns have been greatly challenged and attempts have been made to push those services out by certain spokesmen of the pesent administration attempting to keep the status quo in which most are trapped. I'm not interested in what we are buying right now with health insurance. I hope for the best outcome but maintain my right to choose a healthy lifestyle and wellness care provided by those who tread the "road less traveled". Here's to everyone's good health and peace.

Hello everyone. I first came to Takilma in July 1970. Rode up in a van with JD, Michael, and more I don't recall. Met Vern Russell there, campng near the Meadows. We left together and travelled for some years, regularly returning to Takilma in a series of ever-bigger rolling homes. In 1976, we bought a 5 acre plot of the newly divided stretch between 4-corners and Delbert's old place at the bend. Moved our big bus on there and started growing gardens, kids, etc. Built a big rock house. Planted many fruit trees. Many memories, especially fond of Dunn Creek swimming hole, the Mother's Day pig roasts, solstice parties, fund-raising, building, and partying in the community building, kids asleep beneath the tables, Easter Egg hunts at Sunnyridge. Also remember the first clinic building, the old community shower, Doo dah Dome school, taught at Takilma Pre-school when my Bro was there, 1978 maybe. Neighbors Pradip and Sandra, Donalee (still there last I visited in '03); Long ago Old Goat and Ivy's kids played with my April and Bro; Crazy old Jerry (?) with the still; Ma and Pa and all those Chihuahuas; Alice Kendall - you taught my kids; Jim SHames, Jose, others at the clinic who guided us for years. Left in 1984 - went to Canada. "Life is change- how it differs from the rocks." Went to university, became a plant biologist. Clean many years now, raising 3 grandchildren, some stepkids, etc. Still make things with my hands all the hand, still build, never forgot how to chop wood!
I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada now. Write me, Julie, at plantdoc@shaw.ca. Love memories, but live each moment.

Hello to all!

I know it's been a real nice break not seeing those head-scratching,
weird, discombobulating little diatribes from me, but the sunny,
fair weather is over!!!!!..that's right, winter has just set in with a
vengence!....

Or not.

SOooooooooo..hello all. I've been busier than a one-legged man at a
butt kicking contest, so have had literally no time to even look at the
computer except to check my weather sites, tide and surf sites, and
of course porn sites!...( actually, i hit the wrong key and now all i get
are "corn" sites.....anyone need to know how to make cornbread? )

Sorry, there was no recipes for pornbread.

Moving not along as usual..

We've ( the entire valley it seems! ) have been....well, let's just say we've
been trimming, and not the petunias! i've been living and breathing
that whacky little weed for two straight months and now my farts smell
like Bubba Kush and Elvis!..( those are a couple popular varieties for those
wondering what the hell i'm rambling about! )
Anyway, i've literally been inundated with clipping for friends, to the point
where i'm not sure what the hell day it is half the time! Lot's of really
tasty herbage though, almost a smorgasborg of tantalizing tokes!....i've
tasted and sampled kinds i didn't know even existed...all of them of
the very highest quality.....pretty amazing..

Other than that i've been doing very little! I just am checking this wonderful
site for the first time in many days and of course it's just as awesome as ever
.... I'll try to do more participating when things wind down a bit...until
then many hellos and greeting's from the beautiful and pungent
smelling illinois valley!..

I have no time to respond to all the previous postings, so i'll just say this:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING AND JOYOUS HOLIDAYS TO ALL!....

Until the winds of nostalgia and fond memories blow again...

Peace.

Mij.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!

this is from a good friend of ours:

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, partly because of crisp cold air, crunchy fresh local apples, and brilliant fall color, and partly because it’s such a good reminder that there’s so much to be grateful for.

It’s so easy to get caught up in a daily routine, or stuck a mindset or an attitude, and forget that we have choices about how we think and feel. We may not always have a lot of choice about what goes on in the outer world, but we have enormous power to change our inner environment.

As Thanksgiving approaches, many Americans find themselves stuck in feelings of fear and anger. This is understandable given the state of the economy, the threat of the H1N1 swine flu, and the prospect of another endless war in a faraway place—just to name a few. Cable TV and the internet make it easy to hang onto and amplify these negative states of consciousness, by finding others who are fearful and angry and who are only too happy to help reinforce these feelings.

Is there an upside to nurturing and cultivating fear and anger? Aside from temporary feelings of excitement caused by the release of stress hormones, none, really. Negative states of consciousness tend to create a sense of loneliness and isolation, and certainly negatively impact health by keeping stress hormones chronically elevated.

Thanksgiving gives us a perfect opportunity to change the emotional channel. One of the most effective ways to tune into more enjoyable and healthy states of consciousness such as understanding, compassion and serenity, is to cultivate an attitude of gratitude; to give thanks.

At this time of year, I like to find a quiet moment, perhaps with a mug of hot cider and some quiet music, and make a list of things that I'm grateful for. Even better is to go around the Thanksgiving table and ask friends and family what they are grateful for. It’s truly amazing how quickly gratitude can transform tension and crankiness into relaxation and laughter.

Gratitude lists can be made any day of the year and needn't be restricted to quiet times. Standing in line at the post office, or sitting in holiday traffic are perfect occasions for gratitude.

In the spirit of giving thanks, I would like to express deep appreciation and gratitude to you, my thoughtful and proactive readers, who daily inspire me to step up, speak out and dig deeper for the truth.

May the blessings be yours,
Virginia Hopkins

As a family we are very blessed and very thankful--
Our love for each other permeated the atmosphere and

Even the losers at the after dinner poker table didn't complain--The
feeling is there all year, but this is a day we can openly express ourselves--
Thank you all, you wonderful Sunnyridgers and to Ted for keeping

Hey all, i'll keep this quick so it doesn't disappear into the cyber-world of
deleted messages!

I've written 3 messages in the past week, all of them annoying and basically
mind-boggling and about as deep and meaningful as a conversation
with John Mcain!....

All three were sucked up into the cyber-void of trivial blather..of which i
happen to be the king of! I'm not sure why they all vanished
into the nothingness of web weirdness, but all three are floating around
somewhere, hurt and saddened at their rather rude treatment...so now i'm
a bit gun-shy as to whether anything i write will ever get posted..good
for you because that means that much less of a chance you'll actually
have to peruse the useless blather that seems to ooze from my acid and
pot and any number of illegal substance soaked mind!

Anyway, as for your social feau-pax of gaseous emitions Ted, next time
when you release the sphincter vapors try looking at the person next to
you in an accusing manner before anyone can pin the noxious fumes
on you!...always entertaining and fun for the whole family!

Or, if nothing else, blame it on the dog...

Ok! So much for the what and how-to's of bleating butt blasts!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone and wish you all a happy and
joyous holiday filled with good food, good tokes, and plenty of silent but
deadly odiferous nose offenses...

By the way, we're all doing well and everyone sends all their best from
ye-olde stomping grounds here in Southern Oregon. Mom has completed
a myriad of tests to make sure her heart is ok, all of them have come out
ok and she's feeling alot better about things. She still has a couple of tests
to make sure all is well, but the overall concensus of the medical field
has been one of a positive nature so thats awesome....she's an awesome
lady and i'm glad for every day we're able to be blessed with her amazing
and kind peronae...

I'll try to write a bit more often ( ugh! ) and until next time may the
blessing of peace and tranquility envelope each and evey one of you...

Peace.

From:     Ted     1/6/2010     7:10 P.M.

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said,

'Jesus knows you're here.'

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze.

When he heard nothing more , after a bit, he shook his head and continued.

Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard

'Jesus is watching you.'

Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice.

Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.

'Did you say that?' he hissed at the parrot.

'Yep', the parrot confessed, then squawked, 'I'm just trying to warn you that he is watching you.'

The burglar relaxed. 'Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?'

'Moses,' replied the bird.

'Moses?' the burglar laughed. 'What kind of people would name a bird Moses?'

'The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.'

Hello one and all!..sorry i haven't regaled this wonderful site with
my rapier-like wit in awhile, but i've been caught up in having a new
girlfriend whom i met over the summer..and chores..and work..and all
sorts of otherwise useless information you really don't want, nor need, to
hear about.

Your welcome.

SOoooooooooo! Hope everyone is well and is starting out the New Year
without anything majorly bad or serious..i was thinking back on last
year for myself personally, and it was rather eventful to say the least. It
started on the day before my birthday on May 31st by me rolling and
totalling my car, which involved an ever exciting ambulance ride, and
ending with me hitting ice on Sucker Creek bridge last month and bouncing
like a pinball before exiting the bridge in reverse and crashing through a
fence..totalling my Jeep Cherokee. Inbetween there was the three times
i hit and killed a deer, one of those times caused bad damage to my Jeep..
i have been being stalked by an ex since early last summer...there's more
i'm sure, but either i've chosen to forget, or all the ridiculously strong
tokes the last three months have befogged my already befogged brain...

i'm going with that theory.

Anyway, i'm doing well and so is the family. I'm now driving a 2004 Hyundai
that the insurance from the Jeep helped pay for. it's the newest vehicle i've
ever owned!...or anyone in the family for that matter! It's a very basic car,
but it runs good and has a damn heater!..i've been driving it a few weeks
and so far i like it..
One of the reasons i decided to annoy everyone is to let you know ( you
in particular Ted ) about a somewhat potentially damaging and dangerous
weather pattern setting up..

Ever since early last Fall, there has been a developing El Nino going on
in the Southern Pacific. Overall statistics show that most of the time an
El Nino happens, California, especially Central and Southern California, get much above normal rainfall..
This pattern though usually takes until January and February and March to
really start, and it's now looking very likely that starting later in the
weekend and through next week, a string of very powerful storms are
going to be slamming the West coast, taking particular aim at California.
By the end of next week, major flooding, mudslides, heavy surf, and all the
other things that come with big storms such as power outages, etc, will
be the rule throughout central and southern California, also over into
Arizona and New Mexico...
My weather knowledge, which is about as plentiful as weight on Twiggy,
tells me this could be a big event for you guys down there Ted, so maybe
do any preperations you need to do before it comes...and, the weather
experts are saying the overall pattern of storms will go on for awhile, so
it could be a prolonged event...
It's good of course, because you DEFINATELY need the rain and snow, of
which there could be many feet of in the mountains in the next couple
weeks. So it's a perverbial catch 22, but it's also not only normal, but long
overdue..

Anyway, that's the latest from non-meteorologist Mij! I'll bid an adieu for
now and wish you all a happy MLK holiday...

Peace.

And by the way..good joke Ted!..

From:     Mij     1/14/2010     7:10 P.M.

Addendum:

-No! It's not your breath Ted!

-If you get a chance, DEFINATELY go see Avatar in 3-D...AMAZING!

Thats all.

From:     Ted     1/14/2010     7:19 P.M.
Hey, thanks for the warning mij! We do need rain but now I'll batten down the hatches before we leave for Florida.
(We're going to my niece's Bat Mitzvah and family reunion)

Hope you didn't waste those deer, mij.

From:     Mij     1/18/2010     8:01 A.M.

Let the fun begin!!!

Still on track for wild weather in the southern California area....
Thunderstorms, heavy rains, high winds, dangerously high surf....
from today through the week...up to 10 iches of rain in some spots by
Friday.....heavy beach erosion and rip-tides so be careful along the beaches.

Be safe out there!

Peace.

Ps. We'll be on the northern edge and will miss out on the heaviest rains
and high surf, although we'll still have some big waves hitting the coast..
Some places in California will have swells up to 35 or 40 ft!!! Whoa!

Adieu.

i noticed these several years that my neighbors still think milk comes from safeway but as they are not capable of keeping glassware sterile that may be a good thing...i don't have time to chat anyways so my best customers live out of town(i am referring to bedrock which is 6 households ) and have a long drive home...it must seem rude when i take the dollars and say byebye gotta scrub some sinks...the 3 ranch families that run the grange are all so busy farming we can't schedule a meeting but 2X a year! i wish i had time to catch some current fotos for you some of the stock is majestic. didn't know us old ghosts would be so busy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THEODORE PILGER, BETTER KNOWN AS TED PILGER--
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY--WE LOVE YOU--

From:     Mij     3/2/2010     4:14 P.M.

Hello fellow strangers in a strange land! I've been away from here for
awhile and now it's time to be graced with my....whatever it is i'm
gracing you with!

We just got "high-speed internet" earlier today and i'm completely
amazed and almost overwhelmed! For instance, before it took about
ten minutes just to log on to this wonderful site..serious! It's one of
the reasons i've been giving everyone a break from my rapier-type wit
and all around awesome vocabulistic rantings!..that, and ever since MB
has exited the building i've been in a post-presidential writing coma due to
the major drop-off of comedic fodder which his absence has left the world
in...no offense against Obama, he's just to intelligent and well spoken for
sarcastically sadistic minds such as myself....oh well, i'll have plenty of
awesome fodder when Sarah Palin becomes president!

So, that earthquake was something huh? i was just looking at a few of the
facts relating to the power of it, and it's amazing to say the least! One
of the things i read was that this quake was 500 times stronger than the
Haitian quake! And, it was so powerful it actually moved the earth off
it's axis a few hundreths of a degree and has shortened the days by a
second or two! Also, it turns out that there were localized tsunami's of
immense proportions, up to 50 ft high! Small towns were literally almost
washed away from the mammoth waves...
Now the "experts" are saying that the next one of this magnitude would
more than likely occur off the Oregon coast in the "Cascadia subduction",
a large fault that is long overdue to have a major slip. Of course, it could
be tomorrow, or it could be in 500 yrs!...

Well, i'm off to eat dinner, i hope everyone is doing well and i'll try to
check back more often for your reading un-enjoyment!..

Until then,

Adieu.

Peace.

From:     Mij     3/4/2010     4:02 P.M.

Oh my god, two messages in less than a week!....has the world gone
completely mad?!!...

Well, yes it has actually, but my two messages are not exactly the most
glaring example as to tangible proof of a world gone sananab!...oops,
i mean bananas!..
There's nothing really new or having just happened to make me point
out the state of the world, i was just browsing around on our new
"high speed" connection and thought i'd point out the obvious on my way
through!...

Your welcome.

So, this is weird having shit download faster than MB can butcher the
English language! Well, it's not quite that fast! But wow, it's definately
faster than that oh so annoying and headache inducing dial-up we've been
putting up with for what seems like the past 20 yrs! What's weird, is when
we first got dial-up we thought it was the best thing since the flush toilet
was invented back in the late 70's!

Speaking of turds! I saw Sarah Plain on the news this morning!...

That's it, saw her on the news and she made me think of a turd.

Moving not along....it's been a rather strange winter in these parts...much
warmer than normal and much dryer than normal. ( i know, me talking
about anything normal is like....not normal! )
Anyway, it's looking like it could be a long, hot dry summer...but on the
other side of the coin it looks like you've been getting a good winter down
around your neck of the woods Ted...which is good because your in the
same boat we are, probably even worse. The weather "pundits" are saying
you guys are actually above normal this winter which should help
immensly with your drought situation..although they also said it will
take a few of these kinds of winters to make up the deficit..but take what
you can while you can get it....

So much for the useless weather facts portion of our program.

Well, i see i've taken up enough valuable space! I'll say adieu for now and
hope everyone has a nice weekend..

Until next time..

Mij.

Peace.

Ps. Did you notice i still managed to get in a stab against MB?.....i still
got it!

Later.

Hi Everyone--Yes Ted, high speed sure is great--I click
on something, lay back to wait for posting, but its been
posted for two minutes--
I don't have a camera anymore--I was using Sue's, but she
took it back and won't let me reborrow it--I sure miss my digital--
So if you say its okay, I will send my puppy pictures to you Ted--
They are developed--so maybe you will post a few on the chatline--
I repeat, she is such a sweetheart--

Peace, love

Hi Everyone
Well, Ellen Sue and I have to leave Santa Barbara. Just can't afford it. Looks like we will be neighbors with our son, Jamal, in Colorado.

Our budget is extremely tight.

JUST LETTING EVERYONE KNOW THAT I MAY HAVE TO CANCEL SUNNYRIDGE.NET AND PUT AS MUCH STUFF AS I CAN ON FACEBOOK.

What a long strange trip it's been...

From:     stan     3/15/2010     9:29 A.M.

Big changes... so do you still have winter coats? How about golashes?
I was forced out of the states in 2001 because I was too weird to get a job, but couldn't possibly afford to live there now as a low-pension geezer anyway.
No Sunnyridge.net? How will I show my Cambo friends the big-bearded picture of me with my special herbs? They can hardly believe it.
Life goes on and often external pressure for change takes us to good places we'd never go if not forced by circumstances.
Anyway good luck Bro.

From:     Mij     3/15/2010     6:56 A.M.

Wow....it's like losing a family member Ted. I know i haven't been
as prolific as i use to be writing my weird and annoying messages
on here..it's strange, you always think you'll have time tomorrow, you
know? Well i just want to say that this site was, and is, an awesome outlet
for what is probably seen as a rather strange and warped mind by many,
and i was just looking through some of the archives and was amazed at
all the many hours of enjoyment i had writing what was hopefully at the
very least entertaining, but sometimes a bit verbose, rantings and diatribes.
i'll miss this site very much Ted, and i wish you and Sue Ellen nothing
but the very best in all your endevours...

Is there a way to save all the messages, pics, and other cool things that
have been such a big part of our lives these past...wow, 12 years! You
have mentioned Facebook, of which i am not a participant, but what about
maybe putting everything on a CD or Disc? i'm saddened to think i'll never
be able to go back and look at all the zany, fun, serious, sometimes
sad, but always entertaing pages of what has been an almost
encyclepedic memoir of all of our past lives and how we were and what
we've become. I consider this to be a true retrospective of what we were,
what we became, and what we are now.....i'm just going to miss this awesome site Ted...sigh....

Stan's right of course, change can be as beneficial as it is painful
sometimes. I'm saddened at the fact that this is an end to an era really...
we've been able to use this unique site as a sort of tangible proof of
who we were, and the amazing lifestyle that was chosen by an entire
generation of young people who opted for something totally different from
what at the time was considered the norm for social protocal. Many factors
attributed to this mass migration of change, music of course being one of
the most powerful sources, but also it stemmed i think from the fact that
life is a circle of events and we change and adapt to the current
phase of this wonderous cycle of life. Which brings us once again full
circle to another page, another story, another chapter...

My mom of course will also miss this site dearly...it's been a great source of
keeping up on each other's lives and she's already talking about getting on
"facebook"...have to see how it goes, she'd probably have a great time on
there. i myself will just remember all the great avenues of discussion we
had on here! Just a guess, but i'm thinking MB won't be missing it all that
much! ( Hey! i got one last MB dig in! ) of course, you have to be able to
actually read first, which leaves him out!...it was pretty amazing really
when you look back at that time period and all the input and discussion
which was expressed by all the many fellow ex-hippie compatriots...and
although there were major differences sometimes in how each of us looked
at things, it was always done with tact and a pension for courtesy...
( Ok! not always, but most of the time! )

Overall, you constructed one hell of a cool site Ted, and i'll miss it very
much....a heartfelt thanks to you.

I hope you and Sue Ellen find that next phase, and we all wish you both
nothing but the very best in everything you do....

Thanks again,

Mij

Peace.

Thanks mij and Stan

Here's a bit of the predicament. Like I said, our budget is extremely tight but the future does looks bright. (gotta wear shades)

In April the hosting.com quarterly billing is $44.85.

If we get some donations that will cover that, I have no problem letting it bill as usual. If not, we are just getting further in the hole...really.

You can see the financial schedule and donate using PayPal by clicking the link above.
Or you can send a check to our address (it will get forwarded if we have moved already)

From:     Mij     3/16/2010     4:14 P.M.

Ted, we'll gladly pay the $44.85, it should be taken care of later this
evening, and thanks for still keeping keeping on.....( sounds like
lyrics to a song! )

Spring has sprung around here! After a relatively mild uneventful winter
with below average rainfall alot of things like the Forsythia etc are saying
Yeah!...Thursday and Friday highs around here in the 70's! But it was just
on Friday that we were getting pounded with snow! ( got a few inches here
and almost a foot over Oregon Mountain ) that crazy spring weather!..

The El Nino, which is responsible for our below average rainfall and
California's above average rainfall, is suppose to last awhile still, which
means we could have a warm dry spring here...it's also the reason why
the Eastern half of the country has been getting a winter for the record
books! Some places have had 8 times their normal snowfall and of course
now torrential rains are causing bad flooding. Now, is this just a part of
a timeless cycle that has nothing to do with man's presence upon this
earth, or is it just a sign of things to come as our climate and world
go through a long predicted catacalysmic cycle of violent unpredictable
weather and massive earthen upheaval? Or, the even bigger question,
does anyone care!
Anyway, i personally have long been a weather geek and have read and
studied weather patterns, etc., and it's really hard not to be convinced
that things are changing very rapidly and it all coincides with the
industrialization of our planet....

or not.

i wonder whether it's the weather, or whether the weather would be
weather whether or not we weatherman would wonder why weather
is changing....

Huh?

Later!

Peace.

....couldn't figure out how to get them across the cyber connection though....

Then we were going to send Foodstamps! But once again, not sure exactly
how that would work....( and did you know that those stamps are not
actually made out of food!?....)

Then we were going to send you the old Volkswagon that's been parked
out back for 20 yrs....once again, when i tried to put it in the computer it
just created a big oily mess and now we have parts scattered all over!
( a whole new meaning to "hard-drive"! )

Ps. Then we were going to!....

From:     stan     3/20/2010     9:33 A.M.

Mij,
I'm a weather freak also. I bought a $200 weather station to bring back to Cambo with me... but our weather never changes much. We did, though, have an exceptional event a few weeks back. Got 5 inches of rain in two hours, in the middle of dry season! We don't often get that much rain at one time in rainy season. Thanks for keeping the site alive.

From:     Mij     3/20/2010     8:18 A.M.

Hey Stan, that is ALOT of rain in a couple of hours! That's how much
moisture comes out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth during one of his rants!
( they're asking him to stay away from the Red River so as to minimize the
flooding...."We can't even handle what mother nature is doing, not to
mention if Rush adds his spewage to the mix it could be catastrophic"! )
That was a quote from the Govenor of North Dakota concerning his
worries on the Red River's flood potential......

or not.

Last winter i got a weather station for Christmas..measures everything from
rainfall to wind speed to humidity and barometric pressure...and you read
all the data from inside the house.....pretty cool. Our winter was pretty
uneventful though...way below average rainfall and very little exciting
weather......about as exciting as watching MB mate...( ugh! )

I'm off to take a drive and check out some local scenery, hope everyone has
a great weekend.....

Until next annoyance,

Peace.

From:     Mij     4/2/2010     3:06 P.M.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

Hello!

Sitting here with my afternoon coffee watching a rather wet Friday
unfold....we've been having a good run of storms the past couple
of weeks, with a wide variety of weather wackiness...wind, rain, hail,
graupel,...( that's that little fluffy stuff thats not quite hail and looks like
tiny round pieces of styrofoam )...we've also had some intense snowfalls
that dropped a couple inches in about twenty minutes..
Highway 199 has been closed numerous times the past few weeks, in
fact my brother and our good frind Norm went down Monday and were
witness to big rocks rolling across the highway and many area where
gravelly mud had, and was, cascading from the sides of that impressive
canyon. His truck got hit three times, two of them leaving very noticable
dents. i went down the next day and it wasn't quite that exciting! But there
was huge waves and i went where noone else in sane mind and body
would go to watch them! Something about huge crashing waves that's
memerizing to me...

So much for your Southern Oregon Weather and stupidity update!

Other than the weather you could give a shit about, eveything's pretty
much just easing along on an even par, so i'll do you all the
tremendous favor of making this a short message...

Gees, you didn't have to clap!

Here's wishing everyone a very Happy Easter and Holiday weekend! And
PLEASE! don't all write at once!..

i kill me!

Adieu..

Peace.

Hello all!

I'm sitting here on this beautiful Sunday morning with a cup of
beautiful coffee, and thought i'd drop a line and see just how uninteresting
i could be!

Hope everyone is doing well.....except for the usual aches and pains and
massive brain-cell loss i'm fine! I'll be turning 50 in about a month and so
i suppose having most of ones hair, teeth, and body parts is a major
accomplishment!
The one subtle but glaring difference i notice as the years go by is how it
takes a little longer to heal each time i do something stupid...like checking
the amount of gas in my tank with a lighter....( still haven't grown my hair
back from that one! )....No! i didn't really check the gas with a lighter! Not
even i would do something ridiculous!.........i used a match of course!

i was serious once....

But seriously!......everyone is starting to catch the perverbial spring fever,
even though the weather has not been very condusive for such projects.
We've had more actual winter-like weather the past couple months than
we did all.....winter! Just a few days ago we watched pretty much every
form of precipitation Mother Nature has to offer, from pouring rain and snow
to even a few blasts of thunder....me and my friend went golfing and we
might as well have been golfing in the damn bayous! i lost three balls on
the fairways! But it was fun sliding and doing brodies in the golf cart!

I went out to the local dives last night with friends and we had a lot of fun
just observing and commenting on what seems like the same people who
were there the last time i went! Not that i hold myself above anyone...for
one thing my arms would get tired! But it just seems like there's a whole
segment of our local society that have done everything in their power to
get rid of what they must consider annoying teeth! i swear if they all
went to a restaurant together they couldn't chew there way through a
bowl of oatmeal! Of course, who needs teeth to drink!

Our newest edition to our humble abode is sitting on the couch looking at
me with her big brown eyes and so i do not stand a chance of not going over to pet her..she's a chocolate Lab and already runs the household!
I'm going to have to take her out for awhile which is a blessing for everyone
due to the fact it means i'll have to sign off for now! I hope everyone has
a nice Sunday and Earth Day week....

Until next time,

Mij

Peace.

If any of you have the means, that is, a high-speed connection of some sort,
check out the guy Jimmy Kimmel had on his show last week called
"The Regurgatator"!.....Yes, it's exactly what you'd think, except he just
so happens to "Regurgatate" weird things like quarters and pool balls! I
swear, we were all in tears watching this guy! You'll either think it's
disgustingly weird and funny, or just disgusting! But it's actually completely
amazing and mesmerizing that he can do what he does....check it
out if you get a chance....

That's your "i wonder if there's something really gross and funny i can
watch" portion of the program!

Adieu....

SUCH THAT WE ARE TOUCHED BY,
REMINDED OF,
AND REUNITED WITH

Hello fellow websters and meisters and....whoever! That's great Larry
and Barbara, another quarter covered!

I'm sitting here with an afternoon cup of coffee, watching the amazing
spring weather continue to unfold. We are currently getting a good dowsing
of liquid sunshine, so much so it brought the rivers to a muddy stage. i
drove towards the snow park this morning and turned around about mile 7
due to what i thought was enough snow....former days of being a young and
brainless dumbass i'd have kept going so i could have gotten stuck, had
to walk, gotten soaked and frozen to the bone, etc...

GOOD TIMES!

Our valley is getting ready for another season of providing medicine to
the sick and impaired!...both of which i am of course! I see as i drive around
many more "tall wooden fences" than there was a month ago...it's amazing
just how many new fences have appeared the past few years, even people
from out of town comment on what seems to be a rather strong collective
community affinity towards fences!.......

it's getting a bit offencive...........get it? offencive?...

WHAT! DO I HAVE TO SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU!

SOoooooooooooo......how bout this crazy Earth lately! Earthquakes, Floods,
Volcanos, Tornados....and not to be left out, man makes sure to add his
two cents with a massive, ongoing oil spill that's sure to make it's way into
critical wetlands and bayous and coastal eco-systems the size of.....well,
lets just say it's bigger than a football field! i was looking at a satellite
earlier where you can clearly see the snaky trail of viscuous black snot
extending hundreds of miles....

GOOD TIMES!

Have i ever mentioned i can sometimes, on occasion, every now and then,
once in awhile, every so often, periodically, be just a bit sarcastic?

i was in town the other day, annoying the local folk, and i ran into ( not
literally ) an old friend whom i knew from my weekly show i had on
Takilma FM radio. He reminded me that there's a "Takilma FM Radio" on
the internet and wanted me to do a show again.....i've thought about it but
it's just not the same as being in the station live...anyway, if your bored and
haven't checked it out, google Takilma FM Radio and you'll find it easily...in
fact, i pretty sure Ted at some point in the past has already posted the link,
and if i didn't smoke so much damn pot i'd remember that!

i do miss doing a radio show though.......

What was i talking about?

Well folks, i'll say adieu for now and once again thank L and B for there
generous donation....

Until next time,

Mij

Peace.

Ps. Did you hear that Tiger Woods changed his first name?.....he changed it
to Cheetah....

From:     Mij     5/22/2010     7:51 A.M.

This is a test. ....

-What's 7000 x 3000?

This is only a test.

Hey! Hope eveyone is doing well, i thought i'd drop a line and say hi. We're
still here, still kicking, still annoying! The test thing is due to the fact i tried to post a couple of times and wasn't able to. i just figured you finally wised
up Ted and put a block on my diatribes!

We've had rain, wind, thunder, hail, and even snow the past couple of
days...more like late February than almost my B'day! i'm only on for a few
minutes ( YAHOO! ) so luckily for you this will be short!

The family is doing well, except for the normal abnormalities, we're all
hanging in there. I find the news to be very sad, what with the oil spill
and the eventual catastrophic enviromental damage it's causing and will
continue to cause...it's weird, but where did everyone think all that rancid
oil was going to go? And did they think it would magically disappear and
be easily cleaned up? As soon as it happened, anyone with an inkling of
intelligence could easily see that this was the beginning to an unprecendented ecolocical disaster of which our children's children would
only just be beginning to fathom...BP of course immediately spewed lies
faster than the oil spewing from the broken pipe, and noone could see
every little thing they said was, is, and will continue to be complete and
utter bullshit? Have we not figured out the ways of big corporations yet?
They're NOT looking out for ANYONE'S best interest but BP's.....they
immediately had a crew of people who's only job was to blow smoke
up the public's asses, and are still of course doing so, and of course will
continue to do so. No surprise there, or at least there shouldn't be.

The spill is, plain and simply, catastrophic in human and wildlife terms. It's
probably the single biggest catastrophe we'll see in our lifetimes. There's no
magical fix, no magical solution, there's just rancid oil by the hundreds of
thousands of gallons being spewed daily into what was once a pristine and
amazing place of diverse life and beauty. End of story. All the people's
lives living anywhere along the Gulf Coast are now and forever completely
ruined and forever changed, there is no happy ending or magical fairy dust
to change that glaringly obvious sad fact.

BP has definately perpetrated the biggest single life and earth changing
crime ever seen on this amazing planet by mankind.

Other than that they seem like pretty cool guys.

i feel so bad for the generations to come whom will here how amazing life
was before the "Event"...we've only just barely bugun to see the
horrible ramifications of this spill, and anyone who tries to say otherwise
or somehow tries to paint any kind of positive outlook for the Gulf is either
working for BP, or is braindead.

And believe me, i know all about braindead!

Don't mean to be some sort of doomsdayer, but just calling a spade a
spade. For some reason noone wants to come out and just say it like it is,
as if this can end up being anything but what is is, a horrific, catastrophic,
life-changing event. And all because of one company's greedy negligence..

Oh well, if you didn't think oysters were slimy enough, try them covered in 30 weight......Mmmmmmmmmm!

Did you here their going to change the name to: "The Gulf of Texico"..

Hey, it sucked i know, but it's hard to find humor in something so......so
sad.

Adieu........

Sunnyridge is coming up for renewal again...price has settled in at $41.97 a quarter. I'm think'n of a few possibilites:
Since I've had so much problems with the current host and there is so little activity on the web site, and there are cheaper hosting companies, I may just cancel the account.
I may resurrect it on another host or let sunnyridge continue on the free places...

Just letting everyone know that sunnyridge.net is coming up for renewal in July and the cost is covered for the next quarter. So we're good till October.
If anyone wants to cover the rest of the year...it's now $41 per qtr.

Hello all!

It's a very warm Sunday evening and i'm sitting here having just eaten
an awesome Sunday dinner and having also just partook in a most
tasty joint.....
Hope everyone is doing well, we had a really pleasant surprise today
when we got a visit from Larry and Barbara! They were nice enough to to
stop by and say hi and reminisce a bit about the good ol days..( it was
awesome to see you guys and i hope your trip back up north was safe and uneventful!..)

So Mr. Meister, i'd like to put $40.00 towards the website fee, i'll give it to
my mom, she likes to do the paying and technical work! i'll go grab it as
soon as i get done taking up valuable webspace!

Been busier than, as the old saying goes, "A one-legged man at a butt
kicking contest"! Having just turned the big "Five O" a few weeks ago
i feel the work a bit more nowadays! But i'm still able to do alot and stand
up at the end of the day, so i guess i shouldn't complain....but i am!

Speaking of complaining, i'd bitch about the oil spill but it's to sad to even
be sarcastic about...i mean, i could probably come up with something
stupid were i to put my mind to it i'm sure! But the whole thing is just so sad
and tragic...and i suppose the biggest tragedy is that it could so easily
have been avoided were BP held accountable to their countless
violations that they just happy-go-luckily blatantly refused to comply with...
Such is the nature of things when big corporations run the government.

Good times!

So we hit the mid 90's today, the warmest temperature we've had all year!
I can't cmplain though because Larry and Barbara were telling us they've
barely seen the sun up there..it's been a rather unusual spring/early summer
as far as weather goes that's for sure. I like it myself, i'm not a big fan of
the high 90's/100 degree temps anymore. We've had so many summers this
past decade that were just a smoky, eye-burning, ashy mess. It's been really
nice seeing blue clear skies. The official beginning to the fire season
is going to begin this week...it's been averaging much earlier so hopefully
we can get away with just a regular fire year..

Well, i've written enough! Would hate to actually start putting people into
literary comas! I hope the $40.00 helps Ted, it may be all i can do for
awhile....but take it one day at a time!

Have a great evening..

Mij

Peace.

Hi Everyone--
Yesterday, the 4th, Jimmy was playing softbaLL at "Out and About"
and the ball hit him 'smack-dab' right below his right cheek and
causing him much pain and a day at the hospital--I have to make an
appointment tomorrow with a plastic surgeon--He has to sit up straight
and can only eat soft foods for awhile--He's feeling quite miserable as you
can imagine--

Peace, love,
Rita

My sympathies to Jimmy. Reminds me of my childhood...not much into sports I still played with the local kids....and everything went straight for my nose...baseballs, snowballs, you name it.
Hope he has some medicine.

From:     Mij     7/11/2010     3:56 P.M.

Hi all....

"i am not an animal!".......( Elepant man..circa early eighties..)

Yep, it was a fun 4th! i was playing left field , a line shot was hit, i decided
to see if my face would work better than my glove......

It didn't.

To expound a bit on what happened..it hit me and immediately both my
ears rang REALLY loud before slowly fading. I stood for a minute,
telling myself "it's not too bad, it's not too bad"..but i knew it was. i took off
my hat and slowly sat down on the field, soon surrounded by a number
of people. i could see my shirt had blood dripping on it, and also felt
a sort of...tiredness come over me. ( good ol' shock was setting in..) my best
friend kept talking to me and keeping me from passing out while a couple
of the people who were in the stands and who had nursing/medical
experience covered my eyes and did the whole concussion test of
dialated eyes, etc., and immediately it was determined an ambulance
should be called right away. i was taken by a golf cart out to Takilma rd
where i was picked up by said ambulance, all the while being calmed
and looked after by at least 6 or 7 people, all of them just trying to keep
me in as calm and as concience as they could. i was taken by ambulance up
to Grants Pass and Three Rivers Hospital, where they took cat scans and
X-rays of my face. i already new from the way it felt and from the comments
of everyone that my cheekbone was fractured, as there was a very
noticable indentation in my cheek..and although i've been through my
share of different kinds of pain throughout my life, i just have to say that
this FUCKING HURT BAD! i remember i kept saying to the ambulance driver
on the way up to the hospital how much it hurt...he of course kept agreeing
and saying he imagined it did! But really, i'm not ashamed to say i was
plain-ass crying...
This happened about 1:30 in the Afternoon and i didn't get back home until
3:00am in the morning, my mom and sister with me the whole time. ( i give
them so much credit for having stayed and comforted me all day and night..
i don't know what i'd have done without their awesome attitude and
strength, it would have been alot more miserable to say the least..i'd just
like to say how much i appreciate they're being there and how much i love
them..)
It turned out i had fractured my right cheekbone in three spots...my entire
right side of my face felt.....smashed. But i was lucky in that i didn't lose any
teeth and my eye, although very sore and swollen and red, seemed to be
at lest functioning and doing it's thing..
i had to wait a couple of days to try and get the swelling and possible
infection under control, and had surgery on Thursday, which knock on wood
seems to have gone well. At least it doesn't look like you could eat soup
from my cheek anymore!..
My face from my nose eastward to my ears has NO feeling and is
so numb it feels like a big slab of steak....REALLY weird sensation and
one i hope remedies itself at least to some extent. The doctor did say it
takes quite awhile for the feeling and sensation to come back, and that
some may never return, but that's a wait and see thing at this point. i can't
be impatient and need to let it do it's thing...the pain is still bad of course
although the past day or two it's gotten at least bareable...needless to say
i'm on some pretty heavy painkillers and antibiotics...i have a list of
things i take and the times to take them, and i mostly eat very soft foods
or broths, etc.....that too will just take time and patience..
It's been a long week to say the least, but between my family, my friends,
the surgery, and the meds i've managed to make it through what has been
one hell of a long week....

So that's where it is...i've been sleeping ( if you want to call it that..more
like a twilight-type doze..) in a recliner due to the fact i'm not allowed to
lay flat..it just puts too much pressure on the bone and also feels really
uncomfortable....

But soon Mij the annoying, Mij the unbearable, Mij the dumbass! will be
back to normal, and i'll hopefully only have bad memories of the incident.
I'd once again like to thank all of my family, especially mom and sis, for
they're awesome suppot and love, and all of my friends too...

i hope everyone has a great week and i'll write again in awhile and give
an update. I've already made jokes about it of course! I'll regale you with
them when i feel better...

Until then peace and serenity to all, and remember to use your
glove!

Adieu....

Peace.

From:     Ted     7/12/2010     7:18 P.M.

Geez, mij...you been having your share of painful experiences this year.
Like you said...at some point this will just be a memory.
Hope that happens real soon.
The whole time I was reading your story I keep thinking how the movies make getting smashed in the face seem like a common day event. Here's the truth!
Wonder how that steak on your face cooks up?

From:     Mij     7/13/2010     8:09 A.M.

I personally like my face well done!.....

Your right Ted, in fact we were talking about that too! In a movie or TV
show people or characters will get SMASHED in the face with any number
or types of objects and walk away with the perverbial little blood drop
that they casually wipe away! We were just watching a movie and a guy
was hit in his face twice with a baseball bat, yet his only discomfort was
a red spot where he was hit!....in reality he'd have been drinking his
food through a straw for the rest of his life!

And all this time i thought everything on TV and movies was real.

So of course now anytime we happen watch or see a baseball game, either i, or someone in the famiy, has to mention how THEY seem to use their gloves to catch the ball.....good to have caring family and friends!

I'm doing a bit better each day though and i'm in that stage where i need
to be very patient and realize it's a slow process. And i'm not a sit around
and do nothing person so it's hard for me to just vegetate in a chair and
find stuff to keep my mind occupied..( internet porn isn't working either! )
But i see the doc on Thursday for my first follow-up and hopefully i'll get
the ok to do a few more things such as not trying to sleep sitting up....i've
tried multiple pillows, cushions, etc., but you just can't get that good
comfortable sleep and feeling when your in that position. Hopefully i'll get
the ok to start laying down..( Hey! It's the little things sometimes! )

I'm glad to see this wonderful site is taken care of financially for awhile,
i know how much of a strain and mental burden it is and can be for you
Ted, and i hope it's always here for future rants and diatribes!

I'm heading back to my chair and my pillows, but it's good to get up and just...do normal things now and then. I'm even having a cup of coffee this morning and it almost tastes normal....( it goes well with steak! )

I'll annoy again soon,

Peace.

The various messages on Sunnyridge.net and the various emails that have circulated may have been suspicious...ill timed, considering the identity theft that has been happening, especially on Facebook.
But here is an email from Ruby concerning the event:

"I don't know if you knew Lance Wolf and his wife Jayne. They lived in
Takilma and spent some time with us at Sunnyridge. He and Jayne have
been divorced forever, but she got a call from the Israeli consulate to
say he was found severely beaten and in a coma. They later called back
to say he died..."

REST IN PEACE, LANCE. IT HASN'T BEEN A VERY PEACEFUL WORLD.

From:     Mij     8/25/2010     6:45 P.M.

Hi all......

I'm doing much better, and each day i know i'm that much closer to
being whole...i'm done with painpills and except for some swelling and
a scar under the eye i'm advancing along with the physical damage..

We of course knew Lance Wolf. He lived here in the valley and visited us often, one of the many awesome souls to pass through our humble abode over the years, and my sister went to highschool with him in Phoenix, AR.
I have nothing but fond memories of him...i'm sitting here listening to
my family reminisce some of the things they remember about him, and
i have to say that mine aren't very extensive due to my being young
at the time, but the picture immediately brought back a very vivid
recollection of him. i hope he finds peace much more bountiful in his next
journey than in this one. Our existence on this planet can be very violent
and it's sad he had to experince just how bad it can be. From me and my
entire family, our sincere condolences to his family and friends....

Until next time,

Mij

Peace.

From:     Mij     11/8/2010     7:27 A.M.

Good morning!

Wow! Amazing how time just rolls by and before you know it months have
passed...it's been 4 months since my injury and i'm doing great, or
so say the people who have to look at my face! But seriously i'm very glad
and somewhat amazed how well i've healed...i still have numbness
and my face sometimes feels like it's metamorphasizing!..a combination
of tiny sharp pin-pricks combined with tingling and itchyness. You can
see where one of the 3 metal plates is just under the right eye...

But overall i'm just slightly uglier than before the injury!

So i've been in a sort of political lethargy..almost numb to the pervasive
moronic atmosphere the American people seemed to have fallen into.
The attention span and memory capabilities of a majority of the people
in our country is only as prevelent as the newest electronic gadgetry
that they're holding in their hands as they try to drive down the road!
It was ineveitable that all the shit that those last insect-like, non-humans
whom were in control for 8 yrs was passed directly down to Obama and
his band of ball-less misfits! If any of the democrats would have just grown
a pair, and been the strong political adversaries they claimed they would
be during the last election, Obama wouldn't be the powerless, almost
inconsequential president he currently is....and leading those spineless
dickheads was, and is, Nancy Pelosi. She's a discredit to womankind..and
i think that just maybe she tears her face off when she gets home and
underneath is an even uglier version of Dick Cheney!

But that's just my thoughts on it.

SO! I hope everyone is doing well, and thank you Ted for continuing to keep
this always awesome site up and running. I know there hasn't been
nearly as much interaction as there was in the past, but mostly i think that's
just due to people doing other things and not having as much time to
be at the computer....

Or not!

What the hell do i know!

I know that for the past month and a half my life has pretty much been a
combination of scissors, rubbing alcohol, and black sticky fingers! It's
been nothing short of awesome actually...in fact i'm heading back for more
of that mind-numbing activity as soon as i get done annoying and
offending all you kind wonderful people!

Once again thanks Ted for all your time and energy you put into keeping
this site up, and i'll try to check in more often and maybe even write
something unoffensive and intelligable to read!

Probably not though!

Peace to all....

Mij.

Adieu..

From:     Mij     2/14/2011     4:35 P.M.

Hi all! Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

I SUCKED on the puzzle! Stevie Wonder could have done
better than me!...in fact, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Jeff
Healy, and Helen Keller could all have done better than me...
and most of them aren't even alive anymore!

Other than that i did just fine.

So i hope things are well for everyone..the valley has settled
into the winter Doldrums and the biggest topic is weather, of which
there's been very little of for the last 6 weeks! Other than fog it's
been pretty uneventful weatherwise. We're finally going to get our
first real rain today since early in January..needless to say the creeks and
rivers are quite low and so is the snowpack...

I did have a "Deliverence" type of experience yesterday though! I know,
your all saying "Oh, please tell us Mij"!....well how can i refuse
such an enthusiastic response!

I was down at the second bridge South of town, the one just before
Westside rd. I've gone down there to skip rocks forever, so i went down
there to enjoy the sun, the river, and to "Scuff" a few stones! ( the
official term is Stone Scuffing...i think! )
Anyway, i was standing with my pile of skippers, and i noticed two
girls standing on the bank across the river. They looked to be
in their very early teens, and they were just staring at me with a rather
blank expressoin on their faces, even aftert i said "Hey, how's it
going...Beautiful day huh?" they still had that weird..nothing there look...

So i quit paying attention to them and forgot about them as i skipped
my rocks. I was doing awesome actually! I had some amazing skips and
i was in a skipping "zone"..
I noticed a quick strange sound..sorta like something that's really small
going into the water really fast..a "vsst" sound..i at first thought nothing
of it, but noticed the sound getting closer to me. I stopped and looked
around, and saw something hit the water right next to me, making that
sound i'd been hearing for several minutes...
I looked over to the bank on the other side, and there was one of the
girls out of "Deliverence" shooting at me with a pellet or BB gun! I
yelled at them, saying what the F---! are you doing!...
She calmy pumped the gun, took aim, and shot again! This time it hit the
rocks next to my feet!....i picked up a rock, and as the expressionless
weird girl took aim at me again i threw a rock at her...
I can throw a rock like nobody's business, and hit the bank right below
her feet, followed immediately by another that smashed into the bushes
right next to her and was going tothrow a third when she and her
just as weird frind/sister took off through the trees...

I ran back to my car, drove to Westside Rd, turned on the old highway,
and went down towards where i figured they might be...i found the house,
told them and their "Deliverence"-like parenets what i thought, and sprayed
gravel when i left.....

Another day in the valley!

Anyway, a strange experience! I'm off to town for icecream, have a great
evening everone and a Happy Valentine's day!

Peace.

Hi all!

I'm just writing a quick Happy B' Day to you Ted, mom said you
had one just recently and it's very rude and unsociable of us to
not have bid you a happy one!

So Happy Birthday!

Now, if she's mistaken and your birthday isn't until July, then forget
i wrote and act like it never happened!

Have a good one and peace to you and yours...

Mij

Peace.

Ps. We've been a winter-wonderland! Last Thursday ( the 17th ) 16 inches
of snow fell here! And GP and Medford didn't get a flake! Strange
how things work sometimes!
We had another 5 inches this Thursday, and last night we were 18 degrees..

Enough winter!

Adieu...

Thanks for the Birthday Wishes.
Being of Facebook gets you lots of wishes...but none quite as sincere as old friends and family.
My mom treated us to a dinner out and here we are at a brewery / restaurant enjoying ourselves.
Alex's choice was fantastic...tell her I wish I could have joined you all!

Thank You Ruby for keeping sunnyridge.net going.
Your donation covers this upcoming quarter and a little more!!

I know this web site is not used much but it was once our own little Facebook.
There are many things that have not even been used and many things that have fallen into disrepair until as a group we decide on favorite alternatives to the "Spam Monster's" forced closure of many of the 100 plus pages.

Blah Blah...
Thanks again, Ruby!

My pleasure! Even with Facebook, it's nice to check back home. This is indeed our own FB, we thought of it first! Well, Ted did anyway. I wish I was tan like that picture, but instead I'm pale and waiting for the real spring to appear. It won't be long now. Mij - I can't believe it snowed so recently and got that cold! No snow here, just clouds and rain.

Hello all! Just when you thought it was safe to go into
the chat...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA..........HA! ( That's an
ominous laugh in case your wondering! )

I've been rather lax on my diatribical input lately i know, and you can
all thank me when you get a chance! ( Diatribical?...not sure about
that one! ) I'd like to say it's because i've been busy, or because i won the
lottery and moved to my own private island in the South Pacific, or because
i went to the gas station and met a beautiful, voluptuous, rich, single
movie star who wanted me to do two things..have sex with her and spend
her money...

None of those things occurred though.

So, the not-so-exciting truth is that i've been doing alot of nothing! And doing it quite well actually! You'd think i went to a distinguished university
which specializes in teaching all the highly technical proceedures
and nuances of how to actually do nothing.."Sluglike University" or
maybe "Lethargic U", or "The College of Ennui", or.......

Huh?

So! I hope everuone is doing well. It's been a rather long winter actually.
We're still in a very cool, wet wintry pattern and since mid-February we've
had no lack of rain and storms and the mountan's snowpack is looking real
good. Crater Lake has 615 inches of snow on the ground which for you
IV graduates such as myself equates to just over 51 ft of snow! The downside
is that EVERYONE is SOOOO tired of the wet cold weather! I saw a lady
walking around with a bright heat lamp duck-taped to the top of her
head...and a REALLY long extension chord! Actually, i didn't, but what
the hell, sounds good! Anyway, the weather dickheads are FINALLY saying
this weather pattern is going to end after today and warm sunny weather
is on the way. They also said Donald Trump's hair is NOT actually a small
furry animal glued to his scalp, so what the hell do they know!

Speaking of the Trumpster! How is it actually possible for someone who's
able to wipe himself and drive a car to be so damn..dumb! I've seen
stuff i scraped off the bottom of my shoes that has more personality
and charisma than that emotionless and scary inhuman android who's
hair could scare Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Helen Keller combined!
I swear! I'm not sure whether to laugh or take out a shotgun and blow the
damn thing off his head! But i'm not sure if it's still alive you know? So
i'd hate to kill a poor defenseless animal who just happens to have the
unfortuneate luck to be Trumps hair! What did he do, go to a Taxidermist
and say, "Give me the roadkill special"!...

So much for the Trump portion of our program.

I did get quite ill a few weeks ago..we were having sunday dinner and
my neice said she was talking to me and i looked like i wasn't all there..which of course isn't that weird in itself but she called over my
sister and she looked at me and wanted to call an ambulance ( usually
people want to call the cops! ) but i've had way too many damn ambulances
rides and i wasn't going for it, even in my empty, vacant, not all there
condition! They drove me to the ER and immediately put me on an IV filled
with all sorts of good stuff, one of which was to immediately try to bring
my 103 temperature down. I was there for 6 hrs and sent home with more
drugs and the opinion that i had a VERY bad case of the Flu, so i was pretty
weak and out of it for awhile..i'm all better now if you count being
sarcastically verbose and annoyingly unfunny normal!...

Guess i'm normal!

Mom has been battling her own craposis, that being Pneumonia. She's
also getting much better, although she'll not be toking anymore which
is almost hard to fathom...i can't believe reporters and news people
from around the world are rushing to cover some BORING and
completely uninteresting Royal Wedding when there's the rather
calamatuous, earthshaking, hard to believe news that Mom Eaton
will no longer be toking.....where the hell is Matt Lauer!

So yeah, everyone could use some warm sunshine and a change of
the weather. I'm also SOOOOO ready to get back to work, not
only for my wallet's sake but for my lethargic body's sake as well..
i was going to quit doing manuel labor and become a teacher at
Cambridge University, but the appeal of digging ditches and
pouring cement was just to damn strong!

So i'm sure those reading this message are wondering if it will EVER
end! I'm also reading it and wondering the same damn thing! "Will
i just STOP already! Don't i have a damn ditch to go dig"!!..

No, i don't.

Hope everyone is having a good spring and enjoys an even better summer.
I'll try to write more ( i can hear a collective moan throughout the
Cyberworld! ) and may the warmth and beauty of all our amazing
world fill you with happiness and joy...

Mij.

Peace.

Ps. I wonder if Donald Trump feeds his hair? It must need food and water!
How does it survive?....

Just wondering.

Adieu.

Ted,
I understand what you're saying, low traffic, etc., but it would be a big loss to lose it. I check in regularly but don't contribute much. Maybe you could scale it down and get a cheaper server. I know it's a big hassle but I also know you can get service for half or less than what you're now paying. I wish I had a better answer. Facebook has definitely stolen SR net's thunder. We all appreciate your efforts. Do what you think is best.

From:     Mij     7/18/2011     4:31 P.M.

Hello all!

Yes, it's once again time for these fine pages to be tainted with the
noxious fumes of my always bizarre outlook on life and it's strange
and weird ways!...( Run! Run Far, Run Fast!! )

So i hope everyone is well on this...18th day of July, 20011. According to
my calculations we're just about 17 months or so from the end of the
world as we know it..that being the 12th of of December 2012? I'm not
exactly an expert on the end of the world, but i think that's the big date! I'm
spending all my money, partying, and living life like a man who's just
found out he has...17 months to live! Not a care in the world! Not paying
my bills, eating and drinking whatever the hell i want, when i want it, and
in whatever quantity i want to consume it! i'm not even showering or
bathing anymore! Why bother? And it's sure nice not having to worry about
brushing my damn tooth!..( not brushing has caused significant lessening
in the actual number of teeth i have to brush! Ergo, tooth! )
I've also quit being nice! Once again, why bother!..it's a real hassle to have
to be considerate and kind, takes up too damn much time! So now when
i walk down the street and someone says "Hi, how you doing"? i answer
with "fuck off, the world's ending you dumb bastard"!..

I must say though that it's not been recieved with the open-mindedness
and exceptance i thought it would be! Gees! What the hell's
wrong with people nowadays anyway?

Of course, the downside is that if the world were to somehow magically
not come to an end on December 12th, 2012, i'll have burned all my bridges
and spent all my money and not be able to chew my food...but that's a small
price to pay for the glory and enlightenment of being a complete dumbass!

Other than that i'm doing well! Our weather has been anything but actually
summerlike for most of the summer so far, in fact we're currently about
20 degrees below normal with clouds and rain..strange! We'll get warm, even hot for a few days, but never for any sustained duration that would
normally be the case. I'm personally not too upset with it, but it seems to
be a bone of contention to most people! "When the hell will summer
get here"!...."My tomatoes look like shit"!..."What's summer without a
nice, raging hot forest fire"!...
Ok, noone says that! But in general it's as if everyone has taken this
strange weather personally! Chill out for christs sakes! It's just
weather!..

"Whether we want the weather, we'll have the weather, whether or not the
weather is wanted....weally!

So much for the weather!

Let's see, what else is going on that i can somehow twist around to fit my
version of how i think my version should be?

Not much! So that means that now i'll be flying by the seat of my vintage
verbal pants! That could be the end of the world as we know it!

Oh wait, we've already covered that.

I'm playing my first softball game tomorrow night since i decided to
use my face as a glove over a year ago and my face was turned
into a soup bowl! Won't lie and say i'm not a little nervous..i mean cmon!
The last time i was on the field i proved the theory of "hell"itivity"! But it's
something i need to do..why i have no idea, maybe just for my own
self-confidence if nothing else. I know i can't just quit the game i've played
for 35+ yrs on that note, so if nothing else i'll play another year and then
put my face into retirement! But yeah, it's a bit nerve-wracking
to say the least...i do have a face-mask i'm going to wear which will be
weird in itself! It looks a bit like a catcher's mask, except...not! I've been
going down and practicing pitching with it on and i'm going to have to
get use to it...just feels weird..

So much for Softball and all it's inherent dangers and subtleties!

What else can i completely bore you with?...

Hold on! I'm thinking!..

Oh yeah! How about if we travel down memory lane for a bit? Your
all, like me, still somewhat hanging onto what remains of your
faculties, so i shall ask you to think back to when you were living here..
oh those many years ago..and picture our beautiful town..and the three
businesses that lined the bustling street! There were more than that i know,
but there are only a few which stick out in what's left of our dwindling
memories! One of those businesses was "The New Cafe". The little Blue and
White building in the center of town that for many many years was one of
those few places we all remember when we walk down memory lane..kinda
like Hammer's Market you now? Anyway, it hasn't been a
restaurant for many yrs of course, but the building has always remained, and
was still cool in a nostalgic sort of way. But alas, last week it was leveled
to make room for a Dutch Brother's Coffee stand! A very poignant reminder
of our rocket-like blast into the 21st Century! The thing is, we have two
local, longtime coffee businesses which both do well and are actually
functioning and prospering businesses in a town that has very few to
boast about. The eventual opening of the DB's will of course effect them
in a not-so-positive way, and there's much speculation as to how they will
do after DB's opens up....

So much for the stroll down memory lane and CJ's businesse's..business.

Huh?

Well, that's all i have! I'm empty! Done! Kaput! Finished!...i hope everyone's
summer is going well and i'll probably annoy again in what your
hoping is the not-so-near future!

Until then,

Mij.

Peace.

Yahoo! I can always count on you, mij, to stink up the outhouse again.
Just kidding...couldn't resist...what I mean is I can count on you to add some life to this chat room.
Wonder if it will still be here on 12/13/12?
Weather here has been getting progressively hot.
Everyone comments on how brown I am, swimming a playing in the pool with all the cute kids here. The kids call me "Mr. Teddy" or "Pops" or "Target" ('cause I'm the only adult willing to be shot at with the water guns). But we try not to use the expensive air-conditioning to keep cool in the afternoons. All we have to do is wait for the afternoon thundershower to cool off. If that fails...I use my Sunnyridge technique of a wet T-shirt.
Glad you're going to face your face-smashing experience.
Good Idea to wear some protection.
As a kid I was a magnet for face damage...especially nose damage. So I can relate.
And you're right....weather is just weather...what's the big deal.
And the end of the world is just that. We've been through our personal end of the world a million times.
Thanks again for liven'n up the place, mij

Do Do Do Do....Do Do Do Do...!

That's suppose to be the Twilight Zone theme, but if one looks at it and
just sounds out the words without inflection it looks more like...
well, STUPID!! But luckily for me stupid has never really been
a problem to deal with! I can stupid with the best of em'!

Speaking of stupiding ( stupiding?..hmmmm..) with the best of em'! I wonder
if i were to make some reference to our Republican Senate and Congress
as to just how...not so intelligently minded they are, would it cause
feathers to be ruffled and opinions to be rapidly forthcoming?..
Nope! Let's face it, we've all entered that almost coma-like political state
of mind where we've said all we can say long ago, and now it's just
scraping the perverbial shit from the flabbergasted shoe of political
bewilderment! I mean cmon! Is there actually ANYONE out there whom
can muster even the slightest support for our representatives whom
we've elected to represent us? It's like supporting bleeding hemorroids
at a Preperatin H convention! Ok, maybe not, but ( or should i say Butt! ) it's
not exactly a winning proposition! I'd love to say that the Redumblicans hold
the cards in high-stakes stupidity, but the Dumbocrats definately have the
ability to call their hand! We should just elect Sarah Palin and call it quits!
We had a good run, now it's time for complete chaotic governmental
collapse! Maybe we can really go that extra mile and have Donald
Trump as Vice President! At the very least there would be endless
politcal humor to be had at their expense! Just Donald's STUPID, UGLY,
and rather offensive hair could provide months of comedic opportunities!
You ever wonder who killed that small animal he wears on his head? And
what kind of animal is it? Maybe it's a rabbit, and ergo he's really
wearing a "Harepiece"...

Or not.

So much for politics! I never had an opinion on that topic anyway! But the
next best subject in order of interesting is..sex! And Ted may frown on
my verbose verbage on that subject!!

I hate sex!...especially when it doesn't involve me!

So much for sex! Damn, the opportunities for an intelligent
and deeply meaning conversational subject is rapidly decreasing! I
suppose the weather is always a good non-confrontational subject...

BORING!!

Ok, so we've eliminated politics and sex and weather...damn, i never
realized how little we humans have to talk about! no wonder animals
never say anything, they learned long ago it's all been said already!

Ok, how about if we just talk about..life. I've been on this planet a little
over 51 years now and it seems like no matter the conditions of the world
or what catastrophe is currently befalling someone somewhere, there's
always things to make you smile or just enjoy being able to experience.
I sometimes have to make myself remember all the good things we have
and are able to do, and not let the negative's of life overtake
everything. If you watch the news for ten minutes your only a couple
stories away from moving to Russia and watching Sarah Palin's house
from your doorstep!...but then you turn the TV off, and you look out
at an awesome deep-blue sky filled with incredibly bubbly and bright white
fluffy clouds, you hear the myriad of sounds from all manner of life that's
literally erupting all around you, and you remember how this amazing planet has been doing it's thing for a few billion years and all of a
sudden Donald Trump and Sarah Palin become exactly what they are in
the scheme of things..paltry little nonconsequential blurbs that will be
swallowed up and forgotton as quickly as i forgot wear i put my damn
glasses!..

Where are my glasses? anyone seen them?..

I'm off to visit my good friend whom i've known since highschool and
who just recieved a Pacemaker yesterday after days of a
ridiculously low pulse..at one point his pulse was 30! I told him that
earthworms can manage more a a pulse than that! We like to give each
other full rations of verbal shit, pretty much on a regular basis! When i
got injured last year after i tried to catch the ball with my face, he so
very kindly pointed out to me as we drove out to meet the ambulance
that he could use my face as a soupbowl! What are friend's
for!
( He's been on Dyalisis for over 11 yrs now...3 times a week he goes and has
all his fluids drained for 4 hours at a time...he's without a doubt
the toughest person i've ever known. The past few weeks he's been having
a tough time just doing even the most basic of physical activities. They
finally MADE him go to the hospital the other day and hence was told he
needed the Pacemaker..hopefully he'll feel a lot more energy than he's
been having..) It's these things that slap you right back into reality as far
as what's important in life and what's just...filler..

Thanks for the opportunity at letting me be the above mentioned filler!
it's always a pleasure. And once again thank you Ted for keeping this fun
and nostalgic site up and running, i hope it's here 20 yrs from now....

Have a great weekend everyone and don't forget to stop and smell the
perverbial roses...we'll miss them when they're gone...

Mij.

Peace.

Mij, you should emulate me and write a lot of nifty stuff which you try to get published and make money from but not too many people read and only once in a while gets you a kudo or two from the six or seven who actually read it. Really you're good (except you've got to remember that your is not the same as you're). Get yourself a blog Mij, it'll make you feel important. You know, we should form a union of pretty-darn-good writers.
If we get enough to join we'll have other writers to read our stuff.
Here I am bitching and moaning again about not being a great and recognized writer... anyway I do it because I can't stop myself and besides I like it. Keep it up, Mij, what better do you have to do besides catching softballs with the wrong part of your anatomy.
Actually, that brings up a fine story. I was in a local bar a couple years ago sitting on a stool which wasn't well balanced, a fact which I only discovered in the breech. So there I am leaning way back and oops over I go. In the split second I had to think about how my head would feel crashing into a hard ceramic floor I turned sideways and bounced my nose off the floor instead. Well after the swelling went down and it started to feel normal again I realized that the crash had corrected a previous break which had turned my (ample) nose sideways. Now it's still far from straight, but a least it's pointing straight ahead instead of 10 degrees left.

From:     Ted     7/25/2011     8:44 A.M.

Wow, Stan....karma is remedial!
If I haven't said it before...I enjoy reading your blog. I actually trust your analysis of things, even if your point of view is indeed a "rant".
The trouble with the world of blogs is probably that there is too much out there to read! I saw a movie years ago about generation X. The kids are bombarded with so many opinions and philosophies that they become jaded and withdrawn. Also the collective consciousness is kind of losing its attention span with so much multi-tasking.
Anyway...even is such an environment, we probably don't realize how much power we have to affect the world. Just put it out there.

days in the hospital but it is healing nicely--I was playing with
my O;Riley,German Shepherd and I bent down to pick up his ball
and fell smack-dab on my hipbone--it will take about a month to
heal completely and I should regain full use of my leg without needing
a walker--My sons and daughter take excellent care of me--
I cried at first but that is a nowhere street My head is in a good place now--

Much love to all you wonderful people--
Rita

They have it in all different formats... you can read it on a computer if you don't have an ebook reader.
It's dirt cheap but if you don't have a debit card to make it easy to purchase online I'll send ya a copy.

Just a test. I'm developing a new "template" for the many pages that haven't been working. Remember the "Spam Monster"? All the new pages should allow us and the public to post messages...add links and even upload a picture to the many history pages. And I am hoping the spam monster is still as ineffective as ever.

$10 from 4 sunnyridgers could do the trick!

By the way PLEASE TRY the new format for the many pages that have NOT been working (due to the Spam Monster).

Hello all! I hope everyone's summer is going well and the winds
of time that forever blow through our live have been kind. Mom is doing
better after a fall broke her hip over a month ago..she went back
a couple days ago for her first evaluation by the doctor since
the injury/surgery happened and was given the ok to start putting "some"
pressure on her leg. She had been on a strict "No Pressure" regime which
meant always being in a wheelchair, etc. It's a very slow processs but she's
doing well and seems to be keeping a good head about it. I've been trying
to do exercises with her twice a day which are very important to
getting her strength and mobility back to a semblence of normality. She's
using the walker now and has ditched the wheelchair for the most part. Like
all things in life, time has the last word in when and how much she'll
be able to do, but i think she'll be fine when it's all said and done. She is
without a doubt one of the toughest and amazing ladies i've ever had the
pleasure of being the son of! Kudos to her perseverence and patience..and
for putting up with all of us for the past..however many years she's been
putting up with us!
I myself am doing fine..i played sofball this summer for the first time since
the injury that i sustained on the 4th of July two years ago..i won't lie, the
first few times i flinched like a beaten dog when the ball was hit at me! But
i wore a mask and just did what i'd done for 35 yrs...catch the damn ball with
my glove and not my face! Amazing how much more fun the game is when
your not using your face for a soupbowl! Anyway! it was a great year though
because after losing our first game of the season we won the next
11 straight games to win the league at 11-1! It was alot of fun and i'm
glad that i didn't let the fear keep me from something that i've enjoyed
for most of my life....( I was going to wear a glove on my face but
everyone frowned on that! )

So there's quite a natural phenomonon occurring here in Southern Oregon
and Northern California...many of you may remember when you lived here
that every summer there would be an occasional strange, web-like
structure that would usually happen on the end of Madrone branches?..
It wouldn't be anything too eye-catching and you probably went years
looking at it every summer but thought nothing of it..
This year is..well, almost fucking scary excuse my language! The webs,
which turns out are made by a small moth/caterpillar called a
"Webworm" or "Tentworm" have INUNDATED the madrones and other
broadleaf deciduous trees! Some trees have literally been COMPLETELY
covered and de-foliated! It's quite an amazing sight and event of which
there are many differing opinions on as to just what the eventual outcome
will be. Scientist from OSU and other Universities think there shouldn't be
any long-lasting serious effects..others, like Ed from Redwood Nursery, think
the trees will die and never recover from their web inundations..it's
really amazing though! I'm looking out the window as i write at a small
modrone out by the road and it is basically just a giant, weird web! The
leaves are completely gone and there's nothing green left on the tree!
I've seen some BIG trees that are nothing but big structures of webbing!
All up and down the hillsides from the coast all the way up to the
evergreen tree-line towards Crater Lake all you see is webbed trees! The
caterpillar/moth seems to only attack broad-leafed deciduous trees,
modrones being the most severely infected, although many of the Wal-nut
and Legume-type trees are also completely inundated. It's really an eerie
site to tell you the truth..i find myself mesmerized by the sheer quantity
and prolific coverage of the weird web-like cover. I'd send a picture of
some of the more severely covered trees, but all i have is my cellphone
so i suppose if you'd like to give me a number Ted i could take some
pics and send them to you and you could put them on here..suffice to say
it's a major topic of conversation and worry around here..( you can go into
the Grants Pass Courier's "Friday, Sept 2, 2011 edition and they had a story
and picture on the strange phenonmonon engulfing our Valley..)

Well! Speaking of webbing! The webbing on my mind needs to be cleared
so i can get my bony ass to work! I'd like to sit here and write more
on all the things that do not need to be commented on, but for now my
job here is done!

Until next time...

Mij.

Peace.

Some amazing news, Mij!
Rita, you are indeed a strong and amazing woman and I wish your complete recovery. Hopefully your son's humor is partly responsible. It's the best medicine. Also some friendly herb I guess.

Congratulations, mij, for getting back in the saddle again. I would have liked to see the glove worn on your face, however. I'm laughing just picturing it.

Weird stuff, the caterpillers. If the best you can do is cell phone...my number is:
805 680 3167
I hope the madrones come back and aren't lost. I love those trees.

I found this picture from Medford.

SUNNYRIDGE FINANCIAL REPORT
Ok, guess it was my turn this time.
We're set till January 1, 2012

From:     Mij     10/8/2011     9:44 P.M.

Hello all! Hope everyone is well! Ted, i tried to send you pics
of the webworm on my cell, but unable to due to idiosynchrocies ( hope
i spelled that somewhat close to how it should be! ) with my
phone. The sight is quite amazing, EVERYWHERE there's that webbing
on madrones and other types of trees...( not oaks or any conifers )
It will fit right in around Halloween! it's eerily strange, although i've gotten
somewhet use to it. Anyway, i just wanted to thank you for the number
and i'll try to write again soon. Until then i hope everyone is having a nice
fall! And btw, mom is doing well, she's putting full weight on her hip now
and might forgo the walker for a cane eventually..we're hoping anyway.

Glad the site is payed until January! Awesome! Sorry i couldn't help this
time but i will next.. a bit tight right now for moolah..ugh! But make sure to
throw a reminder my way when we're due next and i'll definately help out.
But for now it's great to know this is still up and running! Kudo's Ted for being the King Webmeister that you are! I know i don't check in nearly
as much as i use to, but i'd be very bummed were this wonderful site not
up and running...

Until next time..

Mij.

Peace.

Stan's tripeast.com
I finished an wrote a review on Amazon.com for stan's newest book.

"Since I know the author and many of the locations and events described, I can vouch for their authenticity. There was no exaggeration but rather a gleaning of wisdom from each experience. Hitchhiking embodies a unique point of view on life, an attitude of randomness and trust and receptivity to lessons that can easily be missed. Stan makes the life-style an adventure and a platform for his philosophy on the health of the psyche, the environment, the economy and politics. Whether you have ever hitched or not, there is excitement and food for thought in this book"
