      WHY I CAME.
POSTED Feb 27, 2000

This is what I wrote back in Oct. 1988 about this question.

Comming to Sunnyridge seemed like the next natural step in our search for a place to live our ideals and lifestyle. In High School I was a middle-class B student deeply involved with the then hardly known health-food trip, philosophy, and inventions. After one semester at college I was introduced to Long Hair, drugs (pot, LSD.), politics, and the popular notion of "dropping out". I eventually wound up in the woods after that one semester and met Ellen Sue, my wife. We also met some people from the Hog Farm, a commune in New Mexico who invited us to a little festival they were organizing at Woodstock. Later we met Jimmy and Patty and started a communal garden but never reaped the harvest since a letter arrived from Dee who was in Oregon, describing what seemed to all of us the perfect place and saying "I can see you walking around here already". We were on our way.
