This is a full-size picture of what is left of the water-wheel at the Sunnyridge Mining Claim. See the "History in pictures" page for a picture of what it looked like when it was functioning.
If you look carefully in the weeds under the frame you can see some rusty object.
That is one of the original "buckets" that drove the wheel. They were made of two coffee cans bent and attached with bailing wire.

Ahhh. Just kidding. This is just a test to show how we can all add our comments to each picture.

That water was mighty cold! This is the swimming hole where we spent much of the summer. It has been improved and maintained by local residents, obviously, but lacks the original sandy beach. Also missing is the "sweat lodge" we used to go in before jumping in the water.

A girl and her dog. Thank goodness that guy on the right (me) is discretely hidden.

Thanks, Leah, for getting this shot. I forgot to take this artifact found at the claim. This is one of the buckets used on the waterwheel; two coffee cans attached with bailing wire.

Both Ellen Sue and I fell in love with this
beautiful picture Leah K. took.
It's not on the kodakgallery site but on
Leah's blog.
Enjoy this full-size view of the
signature tree of the Sunnyridge Mining Claim.

Larry Weinstein, one of the few to brave the icy-cold Althouse creek.
