The fecundity of the place is seen not only by the ladies and babies in the foreground, but by the greenery in the background. That green is the garden in late august or early September.

Faith was born after this picture too. Her brother, Jamal, was already getting into mischief. See "THE LOFT".
Faith was born in "the middle room" in the old couryard. I had made a special couch for us that could fold down into a bed (wish I had it now, with its log frame and all). When Ellen Sue was in labor, people congregated in the room and music played and we had a grand old party.
