The "beast" was only the last(?) of the machines we used for woodruns. Originally the fleshmobile ( a 1950 or so crummie, in a flesh tone color) and Larry's blue VW van were used, then the red chevy truck, then the beast... Ah woodruns... I am certain that part of the hearing loss I now suffer was caused by running the chain saw in those days... or by holding the wood as it came off the saw with my head even closer than when running it...

that could be the reason i lost my hearing ? but this truck was like a mule...with a pto wench, it could do anything....i remember jamal & august driving it into the wood shed, using the starter.....

A wench is always useful....

Funky. Functional. Using a glass coffee perculator top to repair the gas filter along with some bailing wire. And remember the "double shifting"? First, neutral, second, neutral, third.

Cool photo. that's a Dodge isn't it? back in highschool, my buddy's pop had a six-wheel drive version. The clutch was frozen, so you had to start it in gear & start driving as soon as it fired up. "Safety First" His dad had purchased it from a US Govt. auction after the Korean War. Oh yeah, it also had an anti-aircraft spotlight mounted to a trailer. (That was about the size of a Jeep!)

A bridge behind the building on the left was a perfect place to work on vehicles. Once positioned on the bridge, a few blanks were removed alowing easy access to the underside of "the beast". But beware of scorpions.
