Takilma! I was there in the late 70's, and again in the early 80's. I remember fun times with the river rats, and mountain yahoos. I remember Rick and June at the compound. Teeter, Scorpio Don, and mountain man John on Hope mountain. Lila's store. The space station. And a nurse who worked at the clinic, and who lived in a tree house. The time I spent there was incredable! It's seriously changed many of my perception. And although I know in my heart it will never be the same. I'd still like to go back someday.

Wow! What a great website. I loved seeing Patrick on the web! He is still here, and doing great; playing his saxophone regularly and even giving lessons. I just sewed some canvas walls for his addition on his house. He is a regular at the IV High School Basketball games - the most faithful fan the school has ever had. Takilma is alive and well. A new generation of young folks is keeping the beat alive. We have a true community with three generations living here. Many of us who have been here 30 years are the elders, our children our having children of their own who are attending the Dome School. What a wonderful cycle. We publish a local paper "Takilma Common Ground" four times a year coinciding with the solstices and equinoxes. It is full of our original, creative news - we just celebrated our 10th year! Anyone wanting to subscribe email: commonground@cavenet.com.

My name is Joan and yes I spent time at magic forest farm on several occasions. First visit was in the early 70's I was 19 at the time. I was doing a lot of hitchhiking and the road led me to Takilma. I traveled with my baby girl ...corrina. I remember picking berries topless with the ladies to make baby food. I remember Kathy and Darrell and getting up early to make homemade donuts. I remember a soft spring rain and walking with a gentle soul who toched me forever on that afternoon stroll...Oh yes I remember sleeping in a treehouse, the sauna, and of course the dome outhouse.. who could forget that Ha Ha. Hi, this is Pearl.
I have a very urgent request to ask of you. For many of us who lived
in Takilma (and surrounding area), 20+ years later we are coming down
with the deadly HEP C virus. Charlie Two Shoes just died of this awful
virus. I heard Clinic Steve (Shepard) did too. There are many more out
there with the virus. I personally have Chronic end stage HEP C.
Could you please please put on your TAKILMA FOLKS page (where
Patrick from the Wonder Dome is playing the flute) a SPECIAL MEDICAL
ALERT informing folks about the HEP C VIRUS out break? I feel a duty to
be responsible and get the word out. Won't you please help me spread the
word?
Thank you,
Pearl

Hi it's Anna, daughter of Lucia and stepdaughter of Leo Steve. My stepdad too has Hep C, was diagnosed a couple years ago. Funny there might be a Takilma connection? Sorry to hear there are others also dealing with this disease.
I remember bits and pieces of living out in Takilma, as I was just a wee one when we moved away to a cabin on Eight Dollar, about three years old. I do remember an A frame with a tree growing up through the middle-- whose house was that? Found this site doing a google search. It is very good to know there are still Folk out there keeping the community alive! I doubt anyone remembers me or my family, but I wanted to post my rememberances anyway. I'm a mama now! 4 kids and going strong, living in NC. I have fond memories of living on the commune, albeit hazy, lol.
Hi, Takilma! *waves*

Aloha, Rode through Taklima on my way from Maui to Sturgis in 04 could not find much of what I remember being there when I live there in 1969-71. I do remember Delbert he wasn't around his mill at the time. I was one of the orginal horse riders of the valley, we rode the meadows before any one was there,(except for Taklima Nick and Long Larry who hunted and camped there now and then) Its amazing its still going on anyone remember the cowboy Lou Duvall who ranched there or Deputy Queen. How about Big Dave and Alan Weiss ect. Let me know..cwbyonmaui Rick
